DON PASQUALE ITALIAN RESTAURANT
CAMBRIDGE, ENGLAND

We took a short drive of 1.5 hours journey by car from Maidstone in Kent to the nearest bus station en-route to the city of Cambridge. The bus station offers a convenient stop for tourists where we park-and-hop onto the bus to reach the city.

Traffic and parking can be a problem in Cambridge, so it's advisable to just park your car at the station and we can enjoy and tour the city on foot. Walking tours are highly recommended where we can explore some of the most wonderful sights in Cambridge City.

While looking for a lunch bite, we chanced upon DON PASQUALE, an Italian Restaurant, situated strategically on the market square in the centre of Cambridge. One of the city's longest standing and most admired restaurants - Don Pasquale is known to the local residents as the original and best Italian restaurant in Cambridge - this family-run establishment has stood on Market Hill for over 35 years.

Don Pasquale first opened its doors in June 1973. It was well known for fine dining in the heart of Cambridge. Ever since Don Pasquale has been the hub of the Cambridge market square. Running into its fifth decade, Don Pasquale has survived the test of time, mainly due to its loyal clientele and fans from afar.

FETTUCCINE PROSCIUTTO
£ 11.80

My son's favourite dish of pasta has to be the ones that come with mushroom in the white sauce rather than tomato-based pasta. So his ideal choice was their FETTUCCINE PROSCIUTTO.

The combination of the Porcini mushrooms, diced prosciutto and peas cooked in a cream sauce was simply amazing. The delicate Porcini is meaty with an intense flavour - rich and subtle nutty undertones providing a flavoursome taste, especially when cooked together with the salty Italian dry-cured ham - prosciutto!

FETTUCCINE GAMBERONI
£ 12.50

FETTUCCINE GAMBERONI ~ features a homemade flat, thick pasta cooked in a rich and creamy white wine sauce served with big succulent King Prawns and baby spinach leaves.

Bet seafood lovers will fall in love with the generous portion of the King Prawns in this dish as there are a total of six big juicy prawns for you to enjoy with the pasta. Great dish indeed and real value-for-money at £ 12.50 only, both my hubby and I truly enjoyed each strand of the pasta to the last strand!

No meal in an Italian restaurant is complete with two pizzas instead of one. We opted for a spicy pizza -  CAMPAGNOLA PIZZA and a non-spicy QUATTRO STAGIONI.

 CAMPAGNOLA PIZZA
£ 10.90

For CAMPAGNOLA PIZZA, the housemade thin crust pizza is topped generously with tomato, mozzarella, bacon, peppers, spicy sausages and chillies for the extra kick.

 QUATTRO STAGIONI
£ 10.90

On the other hand, the  QUATTRO STAGIONI ~ also known as the four seasons pizza is a classic renowned Italian pizza. It features four different toppings, but Don Pasquale's version came literally with more than that - toppings of tomato, mozzarella, artichokes, mushrooms, anchovies and Italian cooked ham too!

We just loved the authentic pizzas which were cooked over an open fire, thus giving the pizzas a slightly smoky flavour and a crisp crust too! Yummy-yum-yum!

POLLO ALLA VALDOSSTANA
£ 15.50

The chicken lover me, yours truly - just have to order a chicken dish for a more filling meal that day.  This consists of baked-to-perfection butterfly chicken breast topped with parma ham, Fontina cheese and tomato sauce served with ratatouille and chips.

Whether you're looking for somewhere to sit back and relax with a cup of coffee, enjoy a light lunch or enjoy a leisurely evening meal, you'll find Don Pasquale the perfect city centre location – with the Grand Arcade multi-storey car park just a two minute walk away and the heart of the city's shopping district at you finger-tips.

FULL MENU

Locals, shoppers, tourists and businesses enjoy the family welcome and the restaurant provides true Italian family dining in a lively and fun atmosphere - so if you're in Cambridge the next time, do come by and check out Don Pasquale to see what they have to offer you and your friends too.
