Had an enjoyable good night out with friends at Brotzeit's Official Oktoberfest 2016 Barrel Tapping Ceremony with delicious German dishes paired perfectly with famous Paulaner German beers at great prices to mark the start of Oktoberfest at Mid Valley this year.

This symbolic and traditional tapping officially marks the commencement of the largest and most celebrated bier festival on the planet. It’s the go-ahead for Oktoberfest taps to be officially be turned on.

Brotzeit’s bier lovers will be one of the first to savour this year’s brew on tap from the breweries of Paulaner and Hacker Pschorr - two of the six allowed to officially brew Oktoberfest bier. Complement this with authentic modern German cuisine prepared by Brotzeit’s native Bavarian Chef, Helmut, you would be in good stead for a celebration to remember!

Oktoberfest traditions date back to 1810 to the fairytale royal wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese, where for the first time the local community was invited. With the free flow of bier and abundant food, the celebrations went on for 5 days. So much fun they had, that it was repeated year after year, each year on a grander scale than the last, to what has today become Munich’s famed Oktoberfest – often coined, “The Biggest Bier Party In The World”!

Celebratory dates have been scheduled for 7th and 8th October 2016 at Brotzeit @ Mid Valley, ensuring two evenings of pure Munich style fun and revelry. All the way from Germany, the fabulous Paulaner Musikanten will most certainly bring the spirit of Oktoberfest’s music, song, dance and merrymaking to Kuala Lumpur.

And to add flavour to the evenings, Chef Helmut has crafted a gastronomic Oktoberfest Platter priced at RM280 inclusive of 6% GST, featuring Brotzeit’s signature pork knuckle, Lumberjack Steaks, Garlic Sausages, gypsy belly bacon, a trio of sausages ( garlic, spicy chicken and nurnberger pork sausages served with sauerkraut and potato salad, making it the perfect sharing platter amongst 4 friends or family.

Reservations are by way of pre-purchased tickets priced at RM 60(inclusive GST) includes a pint of Oktoberfest bier and a night of non-stop entertainment.

It's the time of the year again for the annual Oktoberfest Celebration, where like-minded folks get together to celebrate the finest in German heritage through German cuisine with traditional food to beer to polka dancing. Also known as the world’s most famous beer festival, Brotzeit is coming up with a special Bavarian menu to celebrate with good beers and delicious food.

Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest festival held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany during late September and early Oktober. In Malaysia too, this celebration has inspired many around the world, thus bringing folks together to celebrate with beers and great food. This year what better way to celebrate the Oktoberfest 2016 early at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant Sunway Pyramid, Bandar Sunway in Petaling Jaya with my foodies kakies.

Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant have specially crafted a special Oktoberfest Platter (more of this later) to go with the Paulaner Beer from Germany to satisfy your craving for crafted beers and delicious pairing food.

For the new menu food review, our first dish is the Kassler Flade - Smoked Pork Loin Pizza - This is a thin crust pizza with tomatoes sauce as its base, with thin slices of slightly salty smoked pork loin topped with olives and freshly grated horseradish and Mozzarella Cheese.

  German Style Meat Loaf

The second mains is the German Style Meat Loaf - it is a traditional homemade meatloaf topped with a fried egg and bacon, served with Asian salad and fries.

We like the texture and taste of the meatloaf which goes well with a fusion Asian salad which has a vinaigrette taste (much like a Thai Salad). Really love it, as the pickled salad goes in-hand-in with the savoury and flavoursome meatloaf!

 Mozzarella Pork Fillet

 Good Choice Of Meat Selection

Mozzarella Pork Fillet is the next course on the table. It is served with boiled Ham, Pork Fillet, Tomatoes and Mozzarella on a Sourdough Bread served with coleslaw and fries on the sides. If you are a real fan of cheese, you find this dish just the kick for you.

 Mixed Platter Of Sausages, Glazed Lumberjack Steak & Gypsy Belly Bacon

The star of the review is the Oktoberfest Platter; which is a super platter for sharing (4 to 5 pax) consisting of an incredibly delicious Pork Knuckle, Garlic Sausage, Gypsy Belly Bacon, Mini Pork Cheese Sausage, Nurnberger Sausage, Honey Glazed Lumberjack Steak served with Sauerkraut and potato salad. Serving a mix varieties of pork meat the German style, it is best eaten with a glass of icy cold beer.

 Apfelkuchle - Apple Fritters

For desserts, the chef has specially crafted the Apfelkuchle - Apple Fritters - which is; slices of cinnamon sugar dusted apple fritters served with homemade Vanilla sauce.

There is a saying that "Eat Breakfast Like A King, Lunch Like a Prince and Dinner Like a Pauper". With this in mind, my blogger hubby and I went to taste out the latest breakfast menu at Brotzeit German Bier Bar and Restaurant located at Bangsar Shopping Centre.

Sundays & Public Holidays Brunch Specials Available Till 3pm 

Brotzeit is renowned for its German cuisine as we have reviewed earlier. Click Here for my earlier review; it is also popular with its hearty breakfast set. As an add-on, you can start your breakfast with a chilled glass of orange juice to detox your body.

Signature Breakfast Set

With the new breakfast menu, our first brekkie is non-other than the Signature Breakfast Set. This set is on the heavy side and is great for those big eaters while the small eater can order this to be shared by 2 persons. 

Loving This Mouth-Watering Shot Of Ham & Belly Bacon

This platter comes with two farm fresh eggs, slices of streaky bacon, 2 Nurnberger sausages on a creamy bed of mashed potatoes with slices of ham, belly bacon, Emmenthaler cheese, onions and tomatoes served with multi-grain bread.

Must Try For Roast Pork Belly Lovers!

The next dish is my favourite as I just love roast pork belly. The set is called the Crispy Pork Belly. Laden with a layer of fats, the pork belly are roasted to a deep crunchy crisp. 

Served on a bed of sauteed spinach with mushroom and tomatoes; it gives a different texture, taste and flavours of this set. It is served with a choice of either fried, poached or scrambled eggs and comes with a multi-seed bread.

 Savoury Pancake

For pancake fans; you can opt for the Savoury Pancake for a change. The thin pancake is wrapped with bacon, feta cheese, tomatoes & olives. Served with fresh garden salad and a choice of either fried, poached or scrambled eggs and comes with a multi-seed bread.

 Farmer's Omelette

 This is then followed thru with a special chef creation of the Farmer's Omelette (RM22.00). The slices of potatoes together with bacon, sprinkles of herbs and eggs are fried omelette style. We like the combination flavours of the omelette and is paired with the fresh garden salad with pesto sauce and served with a sunny side up eggs and multi-seed bread. This is quite a filling meal for a person.

 Hangover Breakfast Set

Next on is the Hangover Breakfast Set; it comprises with a tummy warming goulash soup, slices of fried bacon, smoked salmon with a fried farm fresh eggs and served with a Laugen bread roll.

 Soft Crepe Duo

For the sweet tooth, you can try out the Soft Crepe Duo (RM18.00). The soft crepes are filled with Nutella and strawberry jam to give a sweet and slight sourish tastes.

 

 It is then topped with chopped nuts and fresh fruits to give a different texture and refreshing taste with a drizzle of chocolate and apricot sauce.

All the breakfast set comes with a cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea. So, if you yearn for some top quality western breakfast, the Brotzeit hearty breakfast set will definitely help to kick start your day. It's available on Sundays & Public Holidays Brunch Specials till 3pm only!
