Curiosity got the better of me after seeing so many food platforms raving about Leong Meng Fatt Hakka Yong Tau Foo in Seri Kembangan, so I swung by for lunch!

Run by a Hakka family led by a 70-year-old Hakka Grandma, this time-honored roadside stall has been around for 40 years and is constantly packed with locals.

They make their tofu fresh daily and serve up classic home-style dishes like paper-wrapped chicken, braised pig’s trotters in vinegar, Hakka fried pork, and slow-cooked soups.

While the selection is wide, I have to be completely honest—the food fell short for my personal liking.

Freshly Made Yong Tau Foo RM 2 each

The fish paste texture felt quite different from what I’m used to—not as tender or bouncy as many others I’ve tasted, and the soup base was a bit too bland for my palate, although it was boiled with fish bones.

Hakka Char Yoke

Just okay for me. The gravy was on the watery side, and it lacked the deep, aromatic punch of Nam Yee (fermented red beancurd) and 5-spice powder.

My ultimate go-to for top-notch YTF is still Restoran Wai Kei Old Klang Road. Wai Kei's are bouncier and more filling, with generous portions priced at only RM 2 per piece.
