“Treat your body like a temple, not a woodshed. The mind and the body work together. Your body needs to be a good support system for the mind and the spirit. If you take good care of it, your body can take you wherever you want to go, with the power and the strength and energy and vitality you will need to get there.”
~ Jim Rohn

Having said that, many times we tend to neglect our health especially in this fast-paced 21st-century lifestyle that is taking a toll on our health.  In today’s fast-moving times, the hustle and bustle of urban routine can take its toll on our health. As such, it has become even more crucial that we pay more attention to our wellbeing as we tackle and juggle the stress our hectic lifestyle demands.

It’s time to take charge of your health! Regular health exams and tests can help find problems before they start. They also can help find problems early, when your chances for treatment and cure are better.

Health Talk By Dr Timothy James Watson, Medical Director and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist

This was followed by health talks - the first exclusive health-talk in Malaysia by Dr Timothy James Watson, Medical Director and Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at HSC Medical Center and Dr Alvin Yeow Yee Siang, Medical Officer at HSC Medical Center.

Dr Watson spoke on an interesting topic of  '10 Things You Don't Know About Your Heart' giving us an insight into whys and hows to have a healthy heart for life. He went on to explain that our lifestyle which includes diet, exercise and mental health is important for our well-being. Our age, health and family history, lifestyle choices (i.e. what you eat, how active you are, whether you smoke or drink) plays an important part in having a healthy heart.

Our Malaysian diet is not helping us to a healthy heart with the oil-laden nasi lemak, rendang, mee goreng, curry laksa, roti canai and much more. By exercising regularly, eating healthy and getting regular medical screenings, you are taking steps for a living a longer, healthier life.

If you have any concern or worries about your heart health, do get in touch with him for an appointment at HSC Medical Center KL now!

Dr Alvin Yeow Yee Siang, Medical Officer at HSC Medical Center

Moving on, Dr Alvin shared with us on the ' The Importance of Health Screening'. Many people neglected their health and choose to ignore the symptoms that come along with it. 'Prevention Is Better Than Cure' is crucial to us when it comes to our health. Many diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease are preventable and can be managed much better if identified earlier on.

So was your last health screening? If you are guilty as charged, then it's high time to get a proper health screening at HSC Medical Center for at least once a year.  A regular check-up with your doctor helps them to assess your overall health and to identify your risk factors for disease. By knowing what's normal for you early on, you'll be able to detect any serious changes later this saving medical cost in the long run.

Full House During The Health Talks

We were honoured to be given an opportunity for a Q&A Session with Dr Watson and Dr Alvin after the health talks.

I find Dr Watson was a warm and friendly doctor to talk to and he's easily approachable, so if you have any concerns or worries with your heart health, do get an appointment with him for your piece of mind!

NOVO Ampang

Right after the talks, we went on a 'Stamping Hunting' activity which required us to everyone to go on a 'hunting expedition' dropping by, checking out and getting stamp from nine participant partners such as Klinik Ghealth, KL City Dentists, Synapse Physiotherapy, Oracle Beauty Center, TAGS Spine & Joint Specialists, Somerset Ampang Kuala Lumpur , Novo Ampang, Café Drs Choice and Souled Out.

Oracle Beauty Center

The 'Stamping Hunting' although quite hectic as it requires us to go from one place to another but it was a good way to get the public to check out each of the HSC's tenants and the services they offered. After completion in getting the stamps from the nine participant partners, each entry have a chance to win awesome lucky draw prizes such as 4D 3N cruise to Phuket for 2, 2D 1N stay at Somerset Ampang for 2, LED TV, Apple iPad, Microwave oven, Google Home mini and so much more amazing prizes to be won!
