It has been a while since I've been to THE BAR°N. What better way to visit them again but this time around at their brand new third outlet located at Pavilion KL. Famous for their porky cuisine such as pork sausages, crispy pork belly, pork satay, and slow roasted pork belly which I tasted on my last review and this time, I was pretty excited to try out their latest Tomahawk Steak promotion. THE BAR°N has always my favourite choice for their scrumptious spread of meaty-licious steak. lamb, pork ribs and chicken.

The BAR°N at Pavilion KL is the third outlet under the brand. It comes after the success of its earlier two outlets – Mont Kiara (September 2014) and Gurney Plaza (May 2016) – bringing yet another iconic outlet for wine lovers to imbibe in in one of the most exclusive high-end malls right in the heart of the city, Pavilion KL.

The BAR°N @ Pavilion KL officially launched on September 8, 2016, at level 4 of the shopping mall. An ideal place to wine and dine as The BAR°N is a tapas, wine bar and restaurant all rolled in one establishment offering good food with a great selection of alcoholic beverages from beer to wine to whisky.

The 5,500sf bar & restaurant located on Level 4 (Connection) of Pavilion KL boasts a long bar the length of an adult sperm whale. At 17.5m long, it’s possibly the longest bar in Malaysia. It's rustic, cosy, classy interior design sets itself apart from its competitors, exuding the perfect ambience for busy executives to destress, network or to socialise.

Wine Ambassadors are on hand every evening to assist guests in their selection of wine, to pair with their food or simply for social drinking. Aside from wine, The BAR°N offers guests an extensive menu of alcoholic beverages, with fresh from the tap beers, liquor and delightful cocktails.

THE BAR°N takes its steaks seriously by offering Tomahawk Steak – The Ultimate Full Flavoured Steak in their menu, an absolute pure indulgence for meat lovers. Diners would enjoy the Tomahawk, which is cooked perfectly to just the right degree for a tender, juicy bite by Head Chef Marcus .

If you are probably wondering what is a Tomahawk Steak? It's the Ultimate ‘Wow-Factor’ Steak. Named because it allegedly resembles the Tomahawk axe. This beauty is a richly marbled, full rib eye steak attached to a long, exposed bone. Each steak is the width of a rib bone which results in a generous cut about 2" thick. Each Tomahawk served at THE BAR°N weighs between 850g and 1000g – dependent on the cut.

The Tomahawk is cut based on the thickness of the rib bone and is usually 5cm/2 inches thick. A Tomahawk makes an ideal sharing steak for a special occasion or romantic meal, as it can easily feed two to three people. 

As it is bone-in Rib Steak, it gives out loads of flavour when cooked, as flavours are released during roasting to give a sweet gelatinous flavour. An infusion of juices from the bone into the meat elevates the depth of flavours, whilst maintaining a juicy and tender interior. So if you like bone-in steaks such as T-bone or Porterhouse, you’ll love the Tomahawk Steak.

What I like about the High Tea Board is that it has a variety of dishes to taste and try. Besides that, it's perfect for sharing between 2 to 3 pax and meat lovers will appreciate the generous splash of ingredients. My top favourite has got to be their  Deep-fried Pork Roll, Deep-fried Button Mushrooms, and  Deep-Fried Chicken Wings which I can never get enough of.

Crispy Pork Belly is a choice pick tapas that pair well with wines, cocktails, beers and liquor. Their signature dish is both delicious and addictive with a good ratio of fat and lean meat, tasting similar to the Chinese roast pork aka Siew Yok but with the saltiness toned down.

We loved these Oven-roasted Baby Back Pork Ribs. They are meatier than spare ribs, with a stronger meat-to-bone ratio. Well seasoned and marinated with the perfect flavour of oven-roasted pork ribs. Finest pork ribs are baked for a full two hours in the oven to fork-tender with the marinade also helps to tenderise the meat and allows the flavour to penetrate in before it's oven roasted.

Get ready to sink your teeth into the succulent slab of baby pork ribs that's indulged with satisfying meaty goodness at every level. I loved the tender texture infused with a savoury, smoky flavour with accompanying sauce was sweet and sour, bringing out the best in their ribs.

Feast with the sights and sounds while treating myself to the sizzling live visual performance of a handsome young waiter as he uses a blow torch to caramelize the ribs. Haha... if you love ribs, and you love fire, then you will love even more an intensified flame 'burning' the baby ribs prior to serving.

Coffee and pork ribs. Who would have thought that such an unlikely combo? Definitely, an off-the-beaten-path look that goes with the off-the-beaten-path taste. First time tasting this coffee flavoured meaty dish and I didn't enjoy it at all.

The BAR°N @Pavilion KL also offers a range of special promotions and events. At present, guests may enjoy Happy Hour from 12pm till 8pm daily (all-day long on every Tuesday), while lunch-goers can indulge in Executive Set Lunch options every day from 12–3pm (including public holidays and weekends) with complimentary fresh salad and soup-of-the-day. 

What’s more, as a family-friendly place, children below 12 years of age will receive a complimentary kids meal with every main ordered. On Thursday and Friday evenings, guests are treated to exhilarating live band performances.
