Gone are the days when cafes served simple snacks of cakes, pasta or sandwiches to go with coffee or tea. Now, many cafes out there put as much emphasis on satisfying appetites as quenching thirst. One such place is Eatropica Cafe in Nu Sentral Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur.

I chanced upon this new-kid-on-the-block on one of my shopping trip with my hubby at Nu Sentral recently. Located at the 6th floor of the Upper lower ground lobby of Menara 1 Sentrum Brickfields, Eatropica is a two months eatery that serves a good mix of Western and Asian dishes to tempt your palate.

Upon entering the new cafe, you will be impressed with the spaciousness of the simple and chic decor. I just love the bright and cheery yellow, white and black furnishing that makes the place looks so inviting and comfortable.    

You can choose a few spots to just sit and chill with your family or friends for a nice gathering at these comfy and nice-looking sofa private dining area. Just a perfect for a nice quiet space for an informal meeting or a quick break.

Or perhaps with this very pretty 'Instagramable' backdrop which will make you and your photos look great just by posing at this spot while chilling or unwind with a good cup of coffee or tea!   

Oh yes, Eatropica Cafe may not be easy to locate as it's not in the shopping mall but in the office block instead just next to Nu Sentral Brickfields Shopping Mall. To reach there, you may need to go to the fifth floor of Nu Sentral which is also the GSC cinema floor. 

From that floor, take the lift to reach the sixth floor and you exit to take a left turn and walk over the Sky Bridge into the next building, Menara 1 Sentrum. Eatropica Cafe is just next to Gloria Jeans' Coffee on your left. 

MALAYSIAN CLASSICS

Curry Laksa

Eatropica's menu is vast but naturally, true Malaysian like me must try some of their local offerings such as this amazing big bowl of Curry Laksa. Priced at RM 15, it features quite a hefty bowl of a delicious looking bowl filled with yellow noodles, poached chicken slices, bean sprouts, long beans and cockles with lots of tau foo pok.

The curry soup is just nice - not too oily with aromatic flavour of rich coconut milk cooked with fresh herbs and spices. This dish is only available for lunch from 12noon to 3pm and for RM 15, diners get a complimentary drink of ice lemon tea or lemonade drinks. 

 

Classic Nasi Lemak With Chicken Rendang & Traditional Condiments

Next, from the RICE TABLE Menu, the Classic Nasi Lemak With Chicken Rendang & Traditional Condiments was a good choice for those looking for the de facto national dish of Malaysia.  

A good nasi lemak recipe is not to be taken lightly; it should have amazing quality, texture, flavours, and the right ingredients. Eatropica manages to get it all good in their version of a good nasi lemak with a serving of fragrant coconut milk rice, sweet and spicy sambal, deep-fried crispy ikan bilis, peanuts and sliced cucumber on the side.    

Check out this creative version of the nasi lemak - fragrant with pandan leaves - white and green grains of rice that goes well with the delectable rendang chicken. What I like is that diners can have the option to choose either white rice or brown rice for this dish. It's only available for lunch from 12noon to 3pm where diners get a complimentary drink of ice lemon tea or lemonade drinks.  

WESTERN CUISINE

 Penne Carbonara

The Penne Carbonara was a hearty meal of pasta dish with Turkey bacon and a generous topping of Parmesan cheese scrapping. It is a rich and creamy rendition of the perfect carbonara, just simple and delicious without many frills. Recommended dish to try if you are a fan of that cheesy and rich-tasting pasta dish!

Get this dish for RM 20 that comes with a free drink of ice lemon tea or lemonade drinks.

KETO FRIENDLY MENU 

 

Sirloin Steak Grain Fed

Eatropica also offers a KETO-friendly menu comprising of pure meat dishes with HIGH in healthy fats and LOW in carbs in this special menu. There are beef steak and tuna steak that comes with sides of watercress salad, salsa verde and sweet potato wedges.

Beef lovers will enjoy the Sirloin Steak Grain Fed ~ it's a 250 grams solid piece of Australian beef aged for 21 days, rich in flavour and char-grilled to your liking.

We had it best at medium rare where the beef retained its juiciness, still tender and lightly cooked on the outside. You can savour this steak with four kinds of sauces, namely the black pepper sauce, mustard, garlic sauce or the mustard Hollandaise sauce for a change.  

 

Maguro Tuna Steak

A healthier choice should be the Maguro Tuna Steak. A mildly flavoured 180 grams tuna steak served pan-fried with Wasabi Aioli. For this dish, you can also pick the black pepper sauce, mustard, garlic sauce or the mustard Hollandaise sauce to go with it.

 Melting Moroccan Lamb Shank

Those lamb lovers should try the  Melting Moroccan Lamb Shank. I think this is a good-value-for-money for RM 36 for this chunky piece of lamb shank.

Cooked till fork-tender and juicy in the house made apricot chutney and served with sweet potato mash, one must enjoy the lamb with the smooth and creamy mash that complement the dish to the max.

Pulled Lamb Burger

Another lamb dish to look out for is the Pulled Lamb Burger ~ Generous portion of pulled lamb is served with bun topped with feta cheese, tomato and tzatziki relish. I find the taste of lamb a little too gamey for me but nevertheless, some lamb lovers may particularly love it.  

Tzatziki Relish

This burger dish is served with salad and fries and comes with coupes of a scoop of vanilla ice cream with minted fruit salad inclusive of Coca-cola or ice lemon tea for RM 25 only.
