Celebrate this Mid-Autumn Festival with Summer Palace at Marriott Putrajaya as these special moments of traditions are enhanced with an array of authentic mooncakes delights specially prepared from its kitchen.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four most important Chinese Festivals for lunar worship and moon watching and mooncakes regarded an indispensable delicacy. It's the perfect occasion to strengthen the bonds of kinship; family and friends by getting together for a harmonious reunion.
Selection Of Exquisite Flavours
This year, Summer Palace Of Marriott Putrajaya celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival with five mooncake flavours for a dose of indulgence. Over the years, mooncakes have evolved in terms of flavours and tastes where the various flavours of mooncake and shapes have become more prominent, with exciting flavours such as green tea and durian both proving to be a popular choice.
Dim Sum & Mooncake Chef Chan Wooi Leong
The mooncakes creations are masterfully crafted and meticulously baked by mooncake and dim sum specialist Summer Palace's Chef Chan Wooi Leong. Ipoh-born Chef Chan had his basics in mooncake making with guidance from his beloved mother who was known for making delicious mooncakes. What's not perfect by learning the traditional way of making from a mother's touch.
Armed with 15 years of culinary experience in making traditional mooncakes and signature dim sum, Chef Chan passionately focuses on using only the best ingredients such as their premium lotus seeds, employ master skills to bake mooncake skins at a precise temperature for beautifully baked mooncakes. Apart from that, its pork-free with no added preservatives and artificial colouring/flavourings were used while the quality is not compromised to meet customers expectations.
Succumb to temptations and indulge in Chef Chan's collection of five tantalising mooncakes, all presented in a beautifully crafted black gold and red theme premium gift boxes. Summer Palace's VIP Corporate Gift Box of 4 available at RM 128nett (inclusive of an attractive Chinese Tea Set) makes for a stunning and elegant gift for business associates, clients or other corporate partners.
Featuring a mixture of five Summer Palace mooncakes offering both traditional and new flavours, including Crystal Durian Paste with Single Yolk, Crystal Green Tea with Single Yolk, Baked Mooncake with Lotus Paste & Single Yolk, Baked Mooncake with Red Bean Paste & Single Yolk and last but not least, the special Shanghai Mooncake with Single Yolk & Duo Paste of Jade Pandan & Supreme White Lotus.
Crystal Green Tea with Single Yolk
Appealing to the health-conscious, Crystal Green Tea with Single Yolk is the right choice for those looking for a healthier option. Made with pure green tea powder added into the white lotus paste, the aromatic green tea mooncake is wrapped in luscious green tea snow skin. Green tea lovers will surely be delighted with this pure Matcha mooncake.
Baked Mooncake with Lotus Paste & Single Yolk
For the classic and traditional mooncake, try Baked Mooncake with Lotus Paste & Single Yolk. It is made with high-quality lotus seed. The salted aromatic egg yolk fused splendidly with a classic sweet pure lotus seed paste makes this smooth and soft mooncake taste even superior.
Shanghai Mooncake with Single Yolk & Duo Paste of Jade Pandan & Supreme White Lotus
Shanghai Mooncakes are special as such for their buttery and crisp pastry with sweet lotus filling. I love Shanghai mooncake especially for its crumbly melt-the-mouth texture pastry skin, with the soft and sweet lotus paste filling and enhance the savoury taste from the salted egg yolk.
Chef Chan's creative fusion of the Shanghai Mooncake with Single Yolk & Duo Paste of Jade Pandan & Supreme White Lotus will definitely titillate your palate. The White Lotus and Jade Pandan paired up wonderfully together with the salted egg yolk, giving you a joint of different flavours in one bite. The pastry skin is not too thick and crumbles easily when you sink your teeth into it. Thumbs up to that!
Mooncake Tutorial With Chef Chan
Lucky me on that day, I was offered an exclusive One-To-One Mooncake-Making Session with Chef Chan Wooi Leong during the media review at Summer Palace Restaurant. Chef Chan shows us the step-by-step method of making Crystal Green Tea with Single Yolk.
Pretty Excited At Mooncake Tutorial Session
Chef Chan prepared the three main ingredients to make a snow skin green tea mooncake. I started off with getting the right portion in weight for the green tea snow skin paste at approximately 110 grams, followed by the green tea lotus paste at 60 grams only. Kneading and shaping the mooncake skin takes place, steady and easy under the watchful eye of the chef.
Next, make a hole in the lotus paste to fit a single egg yolk and roll and shape carefully with our palm into a ball shape. With the filling in place, Chef Chan guided me to wrap the snow skin firmly around the lotus filling.
Awesome Experience At Mooncake Making Session
Finally, sprinkle some flour into the mooncake mould and place the mooncake into the wooden mooncake mould. Lightly press the mooncake, then remove it from the mould by hitting it firmly on the table. Voila, here you are my personalised handmade mooncake by Auntie Lilly!
