I’ve never been a fan of desserts, with an exception for cheesecake. I have an absolute soft spot for cheesecakes… that comes with being a lover of all things cheese. So, when I was invited to sample some of the premium cheesecakes by
Cat & the Fiddle , it almost felt like a dream came true. If you haven’t heard of
Cat & the Fiddle before, fret not as this
online specialist cheesecake store only started in Malaysia since July 2016.

King Cat of the Mountain ~ Musang King Durian
This store actually originated from Singapore, created by
Singapore’s iconic dessert chef, Daniel Tay. Chef Daniel Tay is one of the most well-known names in luxury desserts in Singapore. He is trained in the art of classical French pastry and dessert making.
In Singapore, he was the
Pastry Chef of the famed gastronomic French restaurant,
Les Amis. The renowned chef has also won many awards such as the
Pastry Chef of the Year (2001) and World Pastry Cup Gold Medal (1996).
Showcase Of Cheesecakes By Cat & The Fiddle
Having heard of Chef Daniel Tay’s accolades, I really couldn’t wait to try the cheesecakes selections available here in Malaysia. Compared to Singapore, there are only 6 flavours of cheesecake introduced here. In Singapore, there is a total of 15 different flavours! Of all the 6 flavours available, there is bound to be something for everyone!
Over the Moon (New York Cheesecake)

This is called “Over the Moon”, which is actually a New York Cheesecake. This cake looks cuter than most typical New York type, because of the dots and the wall of the cake. The dots are actually because of the chocolate powder added in for the design and unique flavour.
The cheesecake is made with rich cream cheese, enriched with vanilla beans to give you that hint of vanilla in your cake. This is your go-to cheesecake if you prefer a plain type one.
Queen of Hearts (Strawberry Cheesecake)

Meet the
“Queen of Hearts”, a Strawberry flavoured Cheesecake. You’ll find a thick layer of strawberry and raspberry puree, on top of the deliciously rich cheesecake. Unlike other types of cheesecake, this cake has a crust for its bottom along with the sides too. This is how the cheesecake, despite its creamy goodness.. is able to maintain its shape.
The Modern Duke’s Pudding (Oreo Cheesecake)

This is the “The Modern Duke’s Pudding”, a cheesecake which Oreo’s lover would be smitten by because it is an Oreo Cheesecake! Let me share with you why Oreo’s lover would like this, imagine rich creamy cheesecake with sandwiched between the two layers of the crunchy Oreo’s cookie crumble… the top and the bottom! Ah, so delicious.
The Russian Whiskers (Mango Cheesecake)

Then there is the
“The Russian Whiskers”, a
Mango Cheesecake which is actually my personal favourite. From the exterior looks, it appears to be your typical fruit flavoured cheesecake. But in
Cat & the Fiddle’s version you’ll bite into a creamy cheesecake of biscuits’ crust and white curl chocolate chip on the side wall. Another bite deeper, you’ll get fresh mango chunks and finger biscuits within your cheesecake. Such a lovely surprise!

These four cakes above are the few initial flavours available when
Cat & the Fiddle was launched in Malaysia and is priced at
RM99, with a size of 7-inch and weighs 1.1kg. Recently in September,
Cat & the Fiddle have launched two additional no-bake cheesecake flavours.
King Cat of the Mountain (Mao Shan Wang Durian Cheesecake)

One of the new flavours is none other than our local favourite fruit of the
Musang King Durian.
Cat & the Fiddle’s durian cheesecake is called
“King Cat of the Mountain”, the
Mao Shan Wang Durian Cheesecake. This cheesecake is unlike your typical durian cheesecake because you’ll find cubes of durian soft sponge on top, with cream-licious durian cheese… giving you different texture as you bite into them.
The durian flavour is rich and after one bite, you really can’t stop. This is my next favourite cake after the “The Russian Whiskers”, a Mango Cheesecake. This cake is priced at
RM139, with a size of 7-inch and weighs 900g.
Naughty and Nice (Chocolate Cheesecake)

The next cake is one made especially for the chocolate lovers in mind, because “Naughty and Nice”, the Chocolate Cheesecake is a devilishly sinful chocolate cheesecake. This cheesecake is topped with a rich layer of premium chocolate mousse and with fluffy chocolate sponges. Yums yums! This cake is priced at RM119, with a size of 7-inch and weighs 900g.
These cakes are all made from imported premium quality ingredients, which one can easily tell how rich in flavours the cakes were. I would definitely recommend these cakes for cheesecake lovers! Another plus point is that
