The stall is now run by Mr Loo Kia Chee, who inherited the business from his father. He has been using the same traditional Hainanese curry recipe for over 40 years, and it's still a crowd favourite. The curry is aromatic, rich and smooth, with a creamy and luxurious texture from the addition of coconut milk. You can taste the subtle gingery undertones in every bite, adding a refreshing kick to the dish.

But the real stars of the show at Loo's are the meats. The Crispy Pork Chop is a must-try for any meat lover. It's coated with a biscuit crust that's thin yet moist and succulent.

The Pork Belly is also a favourite among customers, with thick chunks of meat that are creamy and melt-in-your-mouth. The smoky braised sauce is rich and complements the pork perfectly.

Add-On For Vegetables

To make your meal even more satisfying, pile your meat and vegetables on a mound of rice and top it with a frilly fried egg with dark soy sauce. It may look messy, but trust us, it tastes like heaven.

Hot Favourite Sambal Sotong

One of the things that makes Loo's so special is the authenticity of their food. They serve up traditional Hainanese dishes like Dark Soy Sauce Stewed Pork, Sambal Sotong, Sambal Prawns, Curry Chicken, Chap Chye (cabbage), and more. The queues start forming early, and the popular dishes do tend to sell out fast, so make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment.

Overall, Loo's Hainanese Curry Rice is a true gem in the Singaporean food scene that has stood the test of time. It's a taste of history that's still going strong today, thanks to Mr Loo's dedication to preserving his family's traditional recipe. It's the perfect comfort food that'll warm your soul and fill your belly. So, if you're ever in the Tiong Bahru area, make sure you stop by and try it for yourself!
