I recently had the pleasure of dining at Goon Wah Restaurant, a place that's famous for its one and only XO Fish Head Noodle dish. As soon as I heard about it, I knew I had to try it out for myself. The dish is priced at RM 29, which I thought was reasonable considering the generous portion size.

The clay pot arrived at my table, brimming with large pieces of fried fish head, fried yam sticks, firm tofu cubes, tomato wedges and salted vegetables. I ordered the "Medium" size portion, which could easily feed 3-4 people. To fully enjoy the flavours of the fish, the waiter suggested that I soak it in the soup first.
I have to say, the flavours were incredible! The soup was light and milky, yet packed with flavour. The fish was perfectly cooked and went so well with the other ingredients in the pot. The yam sticks and tofu cubes added a nice texture to the dish, and the salted vegetables gave it a nice tangy kick.
One of the things I loved about Goon Wah Restaurant was the generous portions. The service was also excellent. The friendly aunties were super quick with their service and made me feel right at home.
In conclusion, if you're a fan of fish head noodles with a light milky broth or if you're a sucker for FOC soup refills, I highly recommend giving Goon Wah Restaurant a try. You won't be disappointed!
