Nam Heong Ipoh, the famous local casual quick Kopitiam chain serving authentic Ipoh cuisine, with a history opening since 1958, has 'recruited' not one but ten 'Beauty Goddess Celebrity i-Waitress Robots' in their outlets in Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur.

Recently, thanks to a wonderful invitation, I was one of the lucky few people to experience first hand of being served by these two amazing i-waitress at  Nam Heong Ipoh Damen Mall. You see, Nam Heong has brought in a total of 10 Novelty Robot Server which is named after Beauty Goddess 女神 of the world.

Now, you can come with your family and friends for some cheer and fun dining at Nam Heong Ipoh being served by these i-Waitress robots at Nam Heong Ipoh Soho Outlet or Nam Heong Ipoh Damen Mall.

When you pay a visit to Nam Heong Ipoh, you will be greeted by eight of these Beauty Goddess 女神 like Dilraba Dilmurat, Hannah Quinlivan, Michelle Reis, Fan Bingbing, and Angelababy at Nam Heong Ipoh SOHO outlet while at the Nam Heong Damen Mall outlet, two i-Waitresses Robots, namely Zhang Ziyi (章子怡) (9) and Cecelia Liu Shishi 刘诗诗 (10) shall be in attendance to amaze and delight you with their antics.

These i-Waitress Robots don't come cheap as they were reportedly cost 30,000 yuan (approximately RM18,467). These artificially intelligent robots run on rechargeable batteries that could last up to eight hours and can travel at a speed of up to  60km per hour.

Although these robots are actually capable of conversing in 36 languages, they have been programmed to speak only in English and Cantonese solely for the use of Nam Heong Kopitiam outlets. How amazing, right?

 Nam Heong Ipoh's i-Waitress Robots Serves To Improve Service Efficiency

The intention of using the robots was to improve the service efficiency and to cut down the waiting time by half from the present of 20 minutes during peak hours. Apart from this, it's much fun to watch these celebrities i-Waitresses Robots move around to serve food to diners at the restaurant. 

 "WELCOME", "YOUR FOOD IS SERVED, PLEASE ENJOY"

 They are programmed to say "WELCOME", "YOUR FOOD IS SERVED, PLEASE ENJOY", "I AM IN OPERATION, PLEASE GIVE ORDERS", and "EXCUSE ME" if you are blocking its path. These red and white mechanical humanoids have sensors so they do not bump into customers and will stop on its track if there are obstacles in front.   

What the i-Waitress Robot do is that it will bring food that you ordered to your table. Next, you will be greeted with a command that your food has arrived. How cute! You collect the food from the serving tray and remember to press the exit button on the robot's hand for it to return to its station to pick up the next orders.

I have seen some diners that were too excited snapping or doing selfies shots with the robots that they have forgotten to send the robots back to their station. How cute!

So how does it sounds to be served by robots at your favourite kopitiam now? For me personally, I think it's good fun, innovative and creative way having these robots to serve customers in restaurants. The wait staff duties are lightened while the diners get light entertainment especially for young kids that will be happy and get to play with a real robot for the first time. 

So the next time you walk into Nam Heong Kopitiam at Damen Mall or Ipoh SOHO, be prepared for a LIVE visual performance of the working i-Waitress robot as they move around the restaurant waiting to take your orders!

According to the manager, Nam Heong Ipoh has always been forefront in introducing innovative technology to its outlet; for example, you can place your order from your table using the iPad instead of having a server to take your orders. He continues that Nam Heong Ipoh will continue to be in the forefront to bring in more technology and creativity to its F&B businesses.
