Spacious and Elegant Setting

Known for its spacious and elegant setting, walking into The Spread at noon gave a different perspective of the restaurant with bright light streaming through its full-length windows.

Ginseng Soup
RM 24

Our first dining experience started off with an excellent serving with one of the most luxurious herbal soup, The Ginseng Soup. Herbal soups are always my favourites, perfect for nourishing and rejuvenating oneself.

The Ginseng Soup was filled with chinese herb aroma being simmered or double boiled in a broth of herbs of wolfberry (Kei Chee) and fresh ginseng with chicken. The comforting bowl of ginseng soup clears the palate and freshens up the mind with a dose of ginseng. Seriously you can go no wrong with a dish that's the epitome of chicken soup to the soul!

Canadian Cod
RM 79

Our lunch commenced with Canadian Cod, a lightly pan fried Canadian Cod with sauteed vegetables, parsley potatoes and ginger shoyu sauce.

A decadently delicious seafood dish, the ocean fresh Canadian Cod Fish is a rich cod dish that goes really well with the mash potatoes after being drizzled with the flavourful house made ginger shoyu sauce. Enjoying it as we savoured through the tender white fleshed, moist and flaky fish. Well-executed!

The sweetness of the fish was accented by the light soy sauce dressing topped with a generous amount of julienne carrots and scallions.

Let's us drizzle the accompanying flavourful shoyu sauce over the cod fish

Fish never fails to entice me whenever I go. Rich with essential nutrients especially protein and omega-3 fatty acids, I enjoyed eating fish any time, any day!

Prawn Aglio Olio
RM 38

Simple and Good Prawn Aglio Olio

Their traditional Aglio Olio Spaghetti was a real winner for me. The ala dente pasta was sauteed with succulent-tasting prawns, flavoured with lots of garlic, parsley, chili flakes and olive oil. The moist, aromatic and flavourful pasta transports one back to the pleasant simplicity of a Italian cooking leaving behind a calming after taste.

Pretty tasty in its own right

A good and simple dish, traditional spaghetti aglio olio was really delicious, combined with lots of fresh prawns and fresh garlic slices thrown in. The moist and aromatic pasta was well cooked - ala dente making it an easy, comfort food in terms of it quality and standard.

 Rogan Josh
RM 53

Rogan Josh was an unfamiliar dish name to me. But anyhow, it was recommended by chef from their menu - Tastes of India. After a search in the google, I found out that Rogan Josh is one of the better known Indian classics, and this fiery lamb or mutton dish from the Kashmir region of India is now popular all over the world.

It's a rich, aromatic and spicy slow-cooked lamb dish of Persian origin. The word Rogan Josh thus means cooked in oil at intense heat.  Another interpretation of the name ~ Rogan meant 'Red Colour', the source of the French 'rouge' and the Spanish 'rojo' whereby ~ Josh meaning passion or heat.

The Rogan Josh was redolent with the taste of spices but was not overwhelming and the traditional dish is mild enough to be appreciated by Western palates . The lamb meat was tender and perfectly seasoned and goes well with the basmati, a long grain rice from India and Pakistan.

Diners can enjoy the rich lamb sauce with basmathi rice, crispy papadum, sweet and sour chutney together with salad, cucumber and tomato slices.

The Spread's Mixed Grill
RM 84

Meaty-licious mixed grill serving of juicy and tenderly grilled Australian Beef Rib Eye, Chicken Breast, Lamb Chop and Chicken Sausage, served with sunny side up fried egg, grilled vegetables, side salad, potato wedges or mash potatoes. With everything in place, this dish makes a satisfying meal for anyone who loves grilled meat.

Mixed grill comes with several selection of sauces such as Classic Veal 'Jus', Truffle Butter, Sarawakian Black Pepper, Mushroom and Creamy Lemon Butter. You can choose to your liking from choices of 5 sauces  to go with your smoky melt-in-the-mouth treat.

Chicken & Mushroom Pot Pie
 RM 42

The Spread's version of pot pie consists of a oblong pastry pot of minced chicken cooked with mixed mushrooms in cream sauce and baked with a top buttery crust. Serving portion is good for sharing between 2 persons.

While I enjoyed eating the flaky, golden pastry especially the side crust, the filling was not savoury enough, could have do better with more creamier and richer sauce. Please note that this comfort classic dish is baked to order, kindly allow 30 minutes cooking time.

Banana, Cheese & Chocolate Pizza
RM 40

A special sweet bites creation from The Spread. A dessert styled pizza, an unassumingly simple combination of Banana, Cheese & Chocolate placed on a pizza dough. I never had a pizza for dessert before, so I was in for a real treat-literally.

Sliced bananas, fragrant coconut jam and shredded cheese topped the thin crust dough, drizzled in chocolatey sauce, the pizza sure hits the right spots. The flavour was rich and they are generous with the cheese.

While sweet pizza may sound odd, there was really nothing strange with topping a neutral-tasting crust with sweet instead of savoury. Baked to perfection, simply delicious. Trust me, nothing can get any better than Banana + Cheese + Chocolate on a super crispy thin crust pizza.
