This is in fact, my long overdue post about my last trip to Hong Kong visiting my youngest daughter Dr Clarrisha in September 2019 last year. Missed travelling and missing my daughters even more, so writing these travel blogs does help and let me reminisce about those happy moments spent with them!

Cha Chan Teng Experience With My Lovely Daughters

Sept 17, 2019 - Day 3 In Hong Kong ~ Seeking out one of the best Hong Kong-style cafe at Kam Wah Cafe & Bakery 金華冰廳 for our breakfast at Prince Edward. This is today's 1st Pitstop for my daughter's favourite breakie of comfort food when she's in Hong Kong for work or holiday!

Happy Morning from Auntie Lilly! If you're new in Hong Kong, then some of the best fast food to have for amazing local delights has to be at Hong Kong cafes or better known as 'Cha Chan Teng' 茶餐厅 in Cantonese.

Awarded the titles of 'Best Hong Kong Style Tea Restaurant (2011) and Best Restaurant in Mong Kok (2012-14), KAM WAH CAFE 金華冰廳 is well-known and popular for offering some of their great-tasting Pineapple Polo Bun and Egg Tarts in Hong Kong since 1973 for more than 3 decades.

There is a long list of hearty and comfort food from Pork Chop Polo Bun, Club Sandwich, Satay Beef Bun, Hot Dog Bun to more filling rice and noodles dishes such as Cheese Curry Pork Chop Noodles, Chicken Chop Fried Rice, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Sing Chow (Singapore) Bee Hoon and Stir-Fried Beef Rice Noodles too.

Totally a great place for good and cheap breakfast, brunch or even for a quick bite for tea. Signatures are still their Polo Bun and Egg Tarts that goes hand-in-hand with the Hong Kong Milk Tea or Ice Lemon Tea.

Pineapple Polo Butter Bun + Milk Tea

Kam Wah's Pineapple Polo Butter Bun or Bolo-Yau tasted really good. Freshly baked daily, it was served warm with a crispy crust on the top sandwiched with a thick slab of butter in between the soft sweet fluffy bun.

Signature Milk Tea

You'll enjoy the hot bun with the cold slab of butter and the combination of these two makes it so delicious to eat. The best part of all is the sugary crust that crumbles as you bite into it. Take a sip of the fragrant, rich, creamy and smooth hot Hong Kong Milk Tea 'Yeet Lai Cha' as you savour this delicious pastry... so heavenly!

Don't be mistaken, HK's Pineapple Polo Butter doesn't have any pineapple in it and it's only called Pineapple Bun because just of the crusty texture with the criss-cross mark on top that resembles the skin of the fruit. So cute, right?

Pineapple Polo Butter Bun or Bolo-Yau

Oh yes, don't get mistaken with these Polo Buns as they come in two varieties - Pineapple Bun or Bolo-Bao is just the bun without butter while Pineapple Polo Butter Bun or Bolo-Yau is the one with butter.

Cheese Curry Pork Chop Noodles

My love for Kam Wah's Cheese Curry Pork Chop Noodles started from the first bite. So good and a hit with three of us as we dug into this plate of springy instant noodles and juicy pork fillet drenched with a mild but flavourful curry sauce enhanced with melted cheese on the top. Really Ho-Ho Shek wei!
