Being a food blogger, I'm always on the lookout for some unique and exciting food promotion to share with my readers and followers.

Last week, I chanced upon Restoran Mahesha, an Indian restaurant that runs up a generous offering of giving out FREE 'BABY COCONUT BRIYANI' to everyone at their restaurant in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) in Kuala Lumpur on 28 September 2018.

You’ve probably heard of nasi briyani cooked in bamboo, but have you heard of coconut briyani? Well, my family and I were up for the excitement checking out Mahesha's 'EAT-FOR-FREE' Baby Coconut Briyani on that eventful day.

As part of their new menu promotion for their signature dish of 'BABY COCONUT BRIYANI', Restoran Mahesha, they gave off FREE Coconut Briyani Chicken to the First 69 Diners on 28 September 2018 from 12noon onwards to 2pm on a first come first serve basis.

Politician, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, member of Parliament was present to show support for this special event.

Thumbs Up From Tummy Happy Patrons

Malaysian from all walk of life enjoying a good meal of baby coconut briyani after redeeming it with the free coupons that afternoon.

The crowds were building up from 1pm onwards but nevertheless, everyone presents were certainly happy with the free food.

Mahesha's owners wanted to take it up a notch and infuse the dish with a special ingredient. They have chosen coconut, the special ingredient as it's a universally-known fruit and a local delight acceptable to many.

One Of Its Kind ~ The Mahesha's Baby Coconut Briyani

Giving the popular briyani a unique twist to the original version, the signature Baby Coconut Briyani comes in six types of Baby Coconut Briyani Rice, namely Chicken Briyani, Mutton Briyani, Duck Briyani, Stingray Briyani, Crab Rasam Briyani and Vegetables Briyani.

 Mahesha's Baby Coconut Chicken Biryani

Mahesha's signature briyani is served on banana leaf with raita and chutney. A pleasant surprise for me to find the briyani rice was served piping hot from the steamer to our table - right inside a young coconut.

We dig into the moist biryani rice to find succulent pieces of chicken, young coconut flesh and a hard-boiled egg, cooked to perfection.  It's aromatic with the spices together with the distinct flavours of the coconut in their briyani rice.

I was told that steamed Masala briyani rice, fresh coconut flesh, Masala meat, roasted cashew nuts, ghee, roasted coconut and a hard-boiled egg are placed into the baby coconut and steamed for 10 minutes prior to serving.

The Huge Steamer For The Baby Coconut Briyani

The preparation method of steaming the briyani rice in young coconut add depth to the dish. The coconut flesh and aroma will then seep into the rice and spices, taking the classic dish to a whole new level of flavour.

The rich and moist briyani rice was good enough on its own and do not require any curry gravy to go with it.

If meat is not quite your thing, the dish also comes in seafood and vegetable variants. The response has been positive with patrons leaving rave reviews on their Facebook Page

Good To The Last Grain of Rice

  2. I still can't get over this great place I recently visited! This isn't only a good place. It is also one of the best event locations around here. There isn't a listing of the unique offerings, although there should be! This place was magnificent!
