My makan adventure brings me to this unique 2 in 1 eatery serving Japanese Barbeque called yakiniku and Shabu-style cooking in hot pot where fresh food are served using a hassle-free conveyor belt.
I have a huge fascination with food served on conveyor belts. Sazori reminds me of my 1st visit to a popular Taiwanese Shabu-shabu in Taoyuan. My first experience with the conveyor belt was in Tang Dian Shabu Shabu, an eatery that serves fresh food on small bowl on a non-stop conveyor belt to all its diners. There was something about seeing the little, covered bowls of food go around and around and around.
Most steamboat restaurants use shared steamboat pots but Shabu Zone and Grill ~ Sazori in Sunway Mentari, Petaling Jaya offers individual ones. The individual pots are great for those who are concerned about sharing food and utensils. Restaurant manager, Ben Senjaya said that he is very particular about hygiene and the individual pot also offers diners their own choice of soups.

There are four types of soups to choose from - Clear Chicken Soup, Seafood Tom Yam Soup, Beef Soup and their speciality soup ~ Ponzu Soup. For RM 31.90, diners can enjoy a Buffet & Grill selection for lunch which includes a grilled selection of lamb and beef slices, whereas for diners opting for Shabu Buffet need only pay RM 26.90. Packages includes hot or cold tea and for buffet drinks/dessert, there will be additional RM 5.00 per pax.
As for dinner, RM 38.00 is charged for Buffet & Grill and RM 34.00 for Shabu Buffet alone. Diners are given 120 minutes dining time and for each additional 10 minutes of dining is charged at RM5.00 per table.
This restaurant has a very attractive feel with a pretty nice decoration of pictures or photographs from Japan. I really loved the pretty photographs in this restaurant, it gave me a nice feel, pleasant and calming ambiance to the overall atmosphere of the restaurant.

The most remarkable feature of conveyor belt sushi is the stream of plates winding through the restaurant typically in a clockwise rotation to make it easier to grab the plate as it passes by. I enjoyed eating at Sazori because it gives the pleasure and time for a leisurely dining where it's easier to grab the plate as it passes by. No skills are needed to read a menu or to order, and there is no danger of leftover food for small eaters or remaining appetite for big eaters due to the endless supply of small portions.

Diners will be spoilt for choice with the 6 types home made dipping sauce starting with Roasted Sesame sauce, Chilli sauce, Peanut sauce, Sweet sauce, BBQ sauce and last but not least their very own Sazori Specialty sauce.
My personal recommendation for starting with my top choice is the Roasted Sesame sauce, Sazori Specialty sauce, Chilli sauce and to be followed by Peanut sauce. I love the Roasted Sesame sauce for its aroma and taste of the roasted sesame. These sauces really goes well with the grilled or shabu items, enhances the taste and flavours of the food.

I particularly fond of the chicken fillet as it was of a premium grade, superbly tender, well-marinated and texture is firm. Not forgetting the chicken fillet, it was tasty and flavourful. Both are good items for the grilling pan and best eaten in a lettuce wrap and dip into the Roasted Sesame sauce or BBQ sauce for the extra flavour.

There is a wide array of fresh vegetables and seafood to sample as well. Apart from the raw seafood, frozen processed food is also available. Ben is stringent about the quality of food served and he makes sure the seafood and vegetables are fresh. He added that customers' satisfaction was his top priority.

Sazori allows its diners a choice of 2 different grill pans to choose from. This a special stove top BBQ grill with aluminium foil laid on the grill pan. I would prefer this grilling pan as the meat doesn't stick and cook more evenly. It's easier to control the cooking and doesn't brown or burn the food too.
On the other hand, the Dome griddle plate cooks much faster but doesn't works well with sliced meats as the meat does tend to stick onto the grill plate if not enough oil is not used. My prawns got slippery too as it was sliding off and kept dropping onto to the sides of the pan.

Hitting high points was the freshly grilled Tiger Prawn, good eaten on its own to savour the natural sweetness of the prawns. Firm and succulent, freshness was top-notch ~ sure to please seafood lovers.
Sazori puts much emphasis on health choices for its diners by offering 2 types of oils for grilling. Canola oil though less fragrant is a better choice for those health conscious diners, whereby the palm oil is much suited and tastier option especially for grills.

The grilled meats are best eaten wrapped with fresh and crunchy lettuce and topped with some Roasted Sesame sauce, BBQ sauce or Chilli sauce for the extra zing and flavour. Watch out, this can be very addictive, you just can't stop eating them at all!

Ending my appetising meal on a sweet note, I had some ice cream starting with Cappuccino Ice Cream. It was tasty and creamy, rich with coffee taste. Best bet, nothing can go wrong with this flavour in fact.
Cendol lovers can go for this special offering of cendol ice cream. It's a creamy concoction of milky and sweet with coconut milk flavour. Milky Chocolate ice cream was equally delicious, rich in chocolate flavour too.
Pudding For Dessert
Other refreshing delights for the sweet tooth includes mixed fruit pudding and different choices of sweet cold drinks such as cincau, grape, lychee, orange, rose syrup, honey wheat grass and fruits too.

Thoughtful and memorable gift from Sazori before we left was this parting crisp Premium Fortune Cookie that comes with a 'fortune' wrapped inside. A 'fortune' is a piece of paper with message or words of wisdom or an aphorism. Mine was this "Great thoughts come from the heart" .... So true :-)

Overall, Sazori ~ Shabu Zone & Grill is a great place to dine if you're looking for nice, clean and hygienic, air conditioned plus hassle-free buffet style shabu & grill meal. You can be assure of fresh and good premium quality food served at any time of the day. Sazori positions itself as a place for friends and family to spend quality time together, hence great effort was put into the menu served, such as desserts, fruits and drinks, to complement the food.
