Operating from a spacious corner shoplot off Jalan Loke Yew, this neighborhood gem has been serving up deliciousness for over 50 years! It is now passionately run by a father-and-son duo. Bonus points for the comfortable, air-conditioned seating—making it the perfect comfy spot for family gatherings or a satisfying feast with friends.
With over 100 dishes on the menu, here is what we feasted on:
The Signature Highlights:
Creamy Butter Lou Shu Fan
RM 38 - Big
Creamy Butter Lou Shu Fan ~A must-order! Unlike heavy, gloopy versions, this is light, smooth, and slightly spicy with a beautiful hint of curry powder. Packed with shrimp, squid, and crispy dried shrimp (har mai), it's addictive without being overwhelming. Officially on my favorites list—Ho-Ho Shek Wor!
King Spare Ribs (Pai Kuat Wong)
RM 34
King Spare Ribs (Pai Kuat Wong) ~ These fall-off-the-bone ribs were succulent, sweet, and tangy, elevated by a deep, rich Worcestershire sauce flavor. A classic done exceptionally well; I was hooked from the first bite!
Other Dishes We Tried:
Four Heavenly Kings
RM 26
Four Heavenly Kings ~ Stir-fried long beans, petai, brinjal, and ladies' fingers tossed with shrimp paste (belacan). It was packed with excellent wok hei, flavorful, and absolutely perfect to go with a hot bowl of rice.
Lala Soup
RM 30
Lala Soup ~ The clams were incredibly fresh, and the broth was deeply flavorful, though the portion felt a little small for 2–3 pax.
Fried Chicken Wings
RM 20 For 4 pcs
Fried Chicken Wings ~ Super crispy, but unfortunately leaned towards the average side, as they lacked a bit of depth of flavor.
The Verdict: From the incredibly warm service to the comforting dishes, Song Lim Restaurant is a hidden treasure worth revisiting. Trust me on this—don’t forget to try their signature Lou Shu Fun. You’ll thank me later!
