Our foodie family day trip through Sekinchan continues! Right after a highly satisfying seafood lunch at Restoran Ka Lok, it was straight to our second pit stop of the day. We headed deep into the village to visit a renowned traditional seafood wholesaler: Sekinchan Mimi Fish Ball (适耕庄咪咪鱼丸).
To be honest, this stop was highly anticipated because my sister-in-law, Pattrine, is the biggest fish ball lover in our family. We simply couldn't skip a visit to Sekinchan's most popular seafood product producer!
The Local Favorite for a Reason
Mimi Fish Ball is a well-loved neighborhood staple. While we were standing around enjoying our snacks, we watched a steady stream of local residents pull up on their motorbikes and in their cars to buy bulk supplies for their daily cooking at home. That is always the ultimate sign of quality!
Unlike commercial factory-made brands, everything here is processed daily with ultra-fresh Yellow Eel fish and is completely free of artificial preservatives. Their signature offerings include homemade fish paste and an impressive variety of stuffed Yong Tau Foo crafted into all shapes and sizes.
An Addictive Snack & The Ultimate Hot Pot Souvenir
We ordered a portion of their freshly cooked, steaming hot fish balls and Yong Tau Foo to eat on the spot. They had that perfect, natural, springy texture and clean flavor without being overly floury. Needless to say, they were highly addictive!
Knowing how delicious they were, we completely loaded our shopping bags with them to take home. We stocked up on:
- Traditional Fish Balls
- Savory Fish Cakes
- Tofu Fish Cakes
- Yong Tau Foo
- Fish Noodles (a unique must-try item!)
These fresh, premium ingredients are absolutely perfect for a comforting hot pot meal at home with the family.
Foodie Travel Tip
If you are planning to follow our single-day food trail, I highly recommend bringing a reliable cooler bag or a styrofoam ice box in your car trunk. Trust me, you won’t want to leave Sekinchan without bringing a few packets of these fresh Yellow Eel treasures back to the Klang Valley!
