BEST PORK NOODLES IN HAPPY GARDEN OLD KLANG ROAD ~ RESTORAN CHOY KEI

BEST PORK NOODLES
IN HAPPY GARDEN OLD KLANG ROAD
RESTORAN CHOY KEI
RESTORAN CHOY KEI, a coffeeshop in Happy Garden Old Klang Road, is one makan place that you shouldn't miss if you are around this part of the town. I have one of my BEST PORK NOODLES - my personal favourite, Auntie Lilly's best-recommended pork noodles I have been eating this 'Chee Yuk Fun' for more than a decade ever since staying around this area.

73, Jalan Lazat 1

Old Klang Road
58200 Kuala Lumpur

I called this the Pork Noodles With An Oomph for its generous portion of toppings served in each bowl made by this cheerful Uncle. His stall has been around for decades and is one makan stall that needs no introduction around this area.

Many stalls come and go operating in this coffeeshop but this particular stall withstands the test of time and survive it all with his good-tasting pork noodles. Specialising in pork noodles only, this stall opens as early as 7:30am for the breakfast crowd and finishing or closing by 2pm for the lunch crowd.

He's fast and swift - cooking each bowl of pork noodles behind the stove with much precision - adding in the pork bone soup, followed by minced pork and pork slice - seasoning it well with soya sauce and Shaoxing Chinese wine to enhance the already flavourful soup.

Soup Pork Noodles
RM 7.50 (With Egg)
RM 6.50 (Without Egg)

The 'Chee Yar Char' pork lard, cabbage, scallions and fried garlic oil further add to the flavours of the porky broth that's rich in collagen and fat. It's both interesting and fun to watch him all the time - he's like dancing around the stall moving to & fro and from left to right! I nicknamed him the 'Dancing Uncle' 😁😁😁

At RM 7.50 for a bowl of soup noodles with egg, this is one of the best in town for me! Toppings were overflowing with minced pork, pork slices, crispy pork lard (Chee Yar Char), poached egg and lot of vegetables of the day.  Really 'Ho-ho Sek'!

Here's another version of the pork noodles with the egg boiled together with the soup. Just let Uncle knows how you want your egg to be cooked - poached with runny yolk or cooked egg in the soup.

I always asked for extra vegetables and Chee Yar Char when ordering my noodles. The portions were generous for sharing and that's exactly why we 'Tapau' or takeaway a big one to be shared between two pax to eat at home.

You can opt for a variety of noodles such as Mee Hoon, yellow mee, Kuey Teow or even Yee Meen but I like it best with Mee Hoon as this kind of noodles soak up the flavour well and make this dish even tastier!

'Kwon-Lou' Pork Noodles
(Dry Noodles)
RM 7.50 (Big Without Egg)

Apart from the soup noodles, you can also opt for the 'Kwon-Lou' (Dry Noodles) variant of the pork noodles and it just tastes as good as the soup ones.

RM 7.50
Dry Pork Noodles - Mee Hoon

If you noticed, the portion again is really a lot and I pour the noodles into a big tray for serving at home. Hubby says that every time we 'Tapau' back to eat - the noodles portion are more or maybe Uncle is being nice to us as we have been his regular customers for more than 10 years, eating regularly there at this coffeeshop.

Thumbs up for pork noodles at Restoran Choy Kei. The corner coffee shop is easy to locate at the main road of Jalan Lazat 1 and across the road just next to an open car wash area. Come early to avoid the lunch crowd at 11am and be ready to be vowed if you are a big fan of 'Chee Yuk Fun' Pork Noodles!
