Steaming is one of the most versatile ways of cooking that brings out the natural moisture of food and helps to retain essential nutrients and vitamins in the food, which includes steam bakes and steam roast where braising is possible while keeping the juiciness of the food.
Three Steam Settings To Cook Delicious Food Easily
With Cubie, food can be steamed using one of the three selections of heat intensities, ranging from low (80 degrees) to normal (100 degrees) to high (120 degrees). Within 20 seconds, the Cubie Oven can produce sufficient steam to start cooking the food. Apart from cooking meals, the steam function as a steriliser for baby bottles and tableware.
BAKE OR ROASTThe Cubie Oven makes cooking easier because it is able to roast meats as well as bake cakes, pastries and bread.
HEALTHY FRY
What makes this function special is that it allows frying without or with less oil and instead, uses hot air, limiting any oily mess. It is definitely a great alternative to enjoying fried food without the feeling of guilt.
FERMENTATION
The consistent warm and humid setting created using this oven function allows fermentation to take place in a more controlled environment and helps in raising bread and culturing yoghurts at home.
More On The Cubie Oven Bloggers Cooking Workshop
The Panasonic Cubie Oven Cooking Workshop was hosted by Chef Chin Pei Ling from The Cooking House where we were given the hands-on and step-by-step instructions to preparing the 2 recipes, with the first, Mango & Passion Fruit Crumble and followed by the Roasted Stuffed Chicken With Sundried Tomato Pesto.
Auntie Lilly First Time Using A Hand Mixer
Step 1 - We started off with the making of the base using a hand-held mixer to cream butter and sugar until light and pale. It was my first time learning how to use the hand-held mixer and it really got me into 'big trouble' as the butter cream flew all over the kitchen, right into my friends' faces too!
Captured In Camera My Fun & Hilarious Moments With Chef Pei Ling
Step 2 - Add in egg and vanilla extract, mix well until well-combined. Fold in plain flour and baking powder, and lastly, adjust with some milk to smoothen the vanilla cake base. Spoon the base into the three Le Creuset Cocottes until 1/3 Full.
Step 3 - Mix all the filling ingredients of mangoes, cardamom powder, corn flour, sugar and lemon juice together except for the passion fruits.
Step 4 - To make the crumble, mix plain flour, caster sugar, rolled oats and almond flakes together. Then add in the cooled melted butter. Using a fork, lightly mix until it resembles clump like crumbles.
Step 5 - Spoon mango filling onto the base then top with passion fruits. Scatter the crumbles over and bake in a preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Fresh From The Cubie Oven ~ Mango & Passion Fruit Crumble
Step 1 - Started off with Chef making the Sun dried Tomato Pesto from scratch using fresh ingredients of sundried tomatoes, garlic, walnuts, extra virgin olive oil, Parmesan cheese with salt/black pepper and sugar to taste. Blended together in a Panasonic food processor and set aside.
Step 2 - To prepare the vegetables, clean and cut seasonal vegetables such as yellow onion, cloves garlic, celery, pumpkin, capsicum and cherry tomatoes to bite-sized. Toss together all the ingredients paprika, honey, olive oil and salt/pepper to taste.
Paprika, Honey, Olive Oil, Salt & Black Pepper
Well-Seasoned Root Vegetables For The Base
Arrange the vegetables in the Le Creuset Casserole dish.
Remember to season the skin with salt, pepper and oil. If you like a spicier dish, then sprinkle more paprika for the extra kick.
Step 4 - Place the stuffed chicken onto the vegetables and bake in the preheated Cubie Oven for 15 minutes. Glaze the chicken with the excess oil from the vegetables and continue to bake for another 5-8 minutes or until golden brown. I like mine with the charred bits, so I leave it on for an extra 2 to 3 minutes for the burnt effect!
Roasted To Perfection ~ Roasted Stuffed Chicken With Sundried Tomato Pesto
Well, here you are my chicken dish fresh from the Cubie Oven, roasted to perfection - smelling aromatic in the pesto sauce and freshly baked root vegetable. Looking so delicious and presentable in this bright orange-red Le Creuset Casserole Pan!
