PHO VIETZ Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine Restaurant @Bandar Baru Sri Petaling Kuala Lumpur

PHO VIETZ
True Vietnamese Flavours
Brand New Restaurant Boasts Of Authentic Dishes From Vietnam
Mention Vietnamese food to any local and all they know is the Pho (Beef soup noodle), but there are more delicious dishes this exotic country has to offer. With this in mind, co-owner Eric decided to open a Vietnamses restaurant called Pho Vietz, just to offer the amazing local delights from his homeland for Malaysian to savour, all under one roof.

Helming the kitchen is their lead chef, Kenny Ton Ngoc Hiep, is a true blood Vietnamese with over 20 vast years of experience in authentic and local Vietnamese cuisine. A pioneer in International exposure of Vietnamese fare, to places in Europe, Africa, and Asia, Chef Kenny Ton stays passionate in keeping Pho Vietz true to his roots.

Located in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, Pho Vietz serves an extensive range of mouth-watering cuisine, over 50 choices ranging fron appetisers to rice and noodles to smacking desserts. Business is brisk on the weekends when I visited the restaurant last week. Hungry and curious patrons are seen to be queueing to get a seat in the week old restaurant. Pretty good for a week old restaurant to have such a long queue to get a taste of the Vietnamese cuisine.

Full House Restaurant On The Weekends

Diners can also stock up imported Vietnamese groceries while dining at Pho Vietz. They imported in some popular brands of Vietnam instant noodles, premium grade fish sauce, cooking sauces, condiments, crackers and many others to choose from.

Vietnamese Atiso Tea
RM 6.20 (Pot Per Pax)

To start off my culinary journey dining at Pho Vietz, I chill and unwind while sipping some authentic  Vietnamese Atiso Tea. A pot is good for two although it's stated one pot for a pax. It's really good warm tea to drink as it's helps to clear your palette while waiting for the dishes to be served.

Vietnamese Prawn Salad
RM 15.80

Vietnamese Prawn Salad is a super healthy salad, incredibly delicious serves with crunchy prawn cracker together with julienne carrots, coriander, mint, red chilli, thin rice noodles and sesame seed for the added flavour. An enjoyable salad to try, it will awake your tastebuds with the sweet and sourish dressing made from fish sauce and lime juice.

A Raw Piece of Prawn Cracker

The cracker used in this dish is specially imported from Vietnam, lending an authentic touch to the dish. Here's a shot of the tasty and crispy prawn cracker prior to frying. You can see that it's a special product made from lots of dry shrimp.

Fresh Prawn Roll
RM 8.30

Fresh-tasting and healthy rice paper rolls packed with poached prawn, light vermicelli noodles, carrots, cucumber, chives and herbs, with a savoury sweet dipping sauce. I like the sauce for the extra peanuts for flavour and crunch. Eaten with the special sauce, these rolls are a great starter, light lunch or healthy snack.

Vietnamese Spring Roll
RM 8.30

Moving on, we are treated to some Vietnamese Spring Roll. Clever combination of pork mince wrap in rice roll and deep-fry to crisp perfection. Again, it's topped with crunchy and fragrant peanuts that compliments the overall taste of the dish.

Steamed Rice Crepe Rolls With Minced Pork
RM 10.50

Besides the deep fried Spring Rolls and Fresh Prawn Rice Roll, you can also try out the Steamed Rice Crepe Rolls With Minced Pork. Quite similar to our chee cheong fun, these steamed rice crepe rolls are very light crepe, soft and thin in texture with flavoursome minced pork within. I enjoy it most with the fragrant crisp shallots toppings and eaten with Vietnamese ham (cha lua) dipping sauce.

Also known as Banh Cuon, these tasty morsels look simple but takes lots of practice and hardwork to master making it. See how extremely thin and translucent the steamed rice roll are! They are is different from the rice rolls found at Chinese dim sum, cheong fun, because the banh cuon crepe/roll is extremely thin and delicate and not topped with sweet soy sauce.

Braised Pork Belly In Coconut Juice With Rice
RM 26.90

Braised Pork Belly In Coconut Juice With Rice or also known as Thit Heo Kho Trung is an everyday dish the Southern Vietnamese people enjoy year around, but also a festive dish during Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. A classic family dish, one of the many comfort foods in Vietnamese cuisine that brings back warm, delicious memories to their people.

These beautiful pork belly and eggs is braise it in sweet coconut juice – the natural sugars and eventually reduce and like magic, steeps a golden brown and delicious color to the pork and eggs. Long hours of braising and reduction of the liquid for a soft, melting in your mouth braised thit kho and a sweet and savory sauce. Sinful, succulent and rich, it’s the comfort of pork slowly cooked in sweet caramel, till the soft meat becomes rich and flavourful that makes all of us salivate.

To complete the dish, have some boiled eggs with this amazing pot of pork comfort, and some warm jasmine rice with some cool and crunchy Vietnamese salad for contrast and texture. I loved the light-tasting sauce made from coconut juice provide plenty of sweetness on its own, add depth to the juicy pork. Highly recommended, must-try dish at Pho Vietz!

The flesh is light, firm texture with a mild fish flavour cooked in a savoury caramel sauce, and it's intensely fragrant and flavourful; the fish sauce adds a nicely salty punch too. Perfect fish dish with caramel base that balances out the hot and salty ingredients, goes very well with a warm bowl of rice too!
