A Grand Menu Every Day
At Fortuna Palace Seafood Restaurant
FORTUNA PALACE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
My 'Jalan Jalan Cari Makan' gastronomic adventure has brought my foodie family and me to this part of town to a Chinese Seafood Restaurant located in Taman Kajang Prima, Kajang. Fortuna Palace Seafood Restaurant makes it presence known to the locals for its fine authentic and premium cuisine more than 16 years ago way back in 2001.

My Family of Foodie
Fortuna Palace Seafood Restaurant has an impressive selection of live seafood, including Boston lobster, Mud Crabs, Geoduck and a variety of fishes that are on display in the aquarium for diners to choose from. Our sumptuous feast consists of a 9-course dinner from their new menu with a large selection of seafood dishes including their signature Padi Field Crab Rice.
Two Varieties Sea Garoupa (Pre Order)
First on the table was the Two Varieties Sea Garoupa Fish dish, that makes a grand presentation when served on the dining table. The first dish consists of tender and succulent fillet that are marinated before being deep fried and topped with fried potato shreds and salad dressing.
Next, the rest of Garoupa meat are finely sliced with its delicious thick gelatinous skin, to be deep fried and served with a drizzling of wasabi & mayo sauce to enhance the flavour. The freshness of the Garoupa was evident in each bite!
The impressive, well-plated and crafted dish is a "Pre-Order" cuisine that needs at least a day for preparation and sourcing of ingredients. Chef added that each fish weighs at 1.5kg and above to achieve its maximum serving for at least 12 diners.
Delightful Crunchy Small Bites
Potatoes lovers will enjoy the crispy deep-fried finely potato shreds toppings on the fish dish. In my photo, it might look like shredded ginger but it's not. Both the tender fish meat and the shredded potatoes paired up wonderfully together in this awesome dish!
Fried Prawns With Potato Shreds & Salad Sauce
Next on the table was the Fried Prawns With Potato Shreds & Salad Sauce. The freshwater prawns tasted amazing; juicy and bouncy despite only being seasoned with salt and pepper before it was cooked. It's being tossed in salad sauce and served topped with the crispy potato shreds.
Beneath the prawn's dish, Chef prepared a mango infused jelly or agar-agar as the base on the plate. If you like, you can scoop it with your spoon and digs in as you please. Everything is edible, said the chef!
Accompanying is a plate of mixed fruits salad of watermelon, lychees and honeydews to go with the prawn dish. The standard serving comes in 8 portions and an extra portion comes with a price tag of RM 10 per serving.
Drunken Prawns In Claypot
The Drunken Prawns In Claypot, the latest addition, should not be missed. House speciality in cooking these succulent Giant Freshwater Prawns, the chef uses a combination of 3 types of wines namely the yellow wine (HaungJiu), Shao Hsing wine and rice wine to drizzle over the freshly cooked giant prawns prior to serving for the extra fragrant and flavour.
Mouth-Watering Prawn Roe
Star Of The Night
The Drunken Prawns In Claypot were nicely done, and the flesh of the meaty giant prawns was sweet. This can only be achieved when seafood is fresh and the preparation method allows its natural taste to shine, instead of marinating it and adding complicated flavours. Highly recommended dish to try if you're a great prawn lovers!
Padi Field Crab Rice
RM 48 (S)
RM 68 (L)
Another dish that stood out was the Padi Field Crab Rice. A rice dish originated from Hainan Island (similar to the Hainan chicken rice) and made famous by the Soong Sisters, in which the chef has improvised the dish to suit the local taste. Meaty freshwater Padi Field Crabs are used for the dish. They are known for the name as it's mainly found breeding in moist habitats like lakes and bunds of padi field.
Ingredients such as butter, lemongrass, pandan leaf, garlic and shallots are used to cooked the rice prior to steaming it in the lotus leaf to absorb the oil and enhances the flavour of the rice too.The crab rice is light and addictive with an aromatic taste and goes well with the chunky pieces of the crab meat that goes on top of the dish.
Braised Giant Garoupa With Dried Scallop & Seafood Broth
The signature Braised Giant Garoupa With Dried Scallop & Seafood is also a must to order if you wish to indulge in seafood satisfaction. The flavourful seafood broth is filled with ocean treasures such as crab meat, Garoupa slice, prawn meat, scallop and mushrooms. Generous in portion, every single spoonful is a delight to taste!
Braised Kampung Chicken With Pig Tendon
RM 45 (S) RM 70 (B)
Apart from the seafood cuisines, Fortuna Palace Seafood Restaurant also offers many other delectable poultry and pork dishes which includes the Braised Kampung Chicken With Pig Tendon, a home-style dish. Tender village chicken , gelatinous pig tendon, and sweet peas are cooked harmoniously with plenty of garlic buds with oyster sauce.
The chicken meat texture is firm, really tender and well-marinated with the generous amount of sweet peas and pig tendon that made this another comfort food candidate indeed. My hubby loves the soft, tender braised pig tendon with just enough cartilage and wobbly bits to make you go oooo..... and served up in thick, dark starchy oyster sauce that's rich with chicken flavour. Good to eat with a warm bowl of rice.
Fried Pork Ribs With Black Pepper Sauce
RM 5 For Each Rib
Minimum Order 4 pcs & Above
Four Varieties Vegetables With Salt & Pepper
RM 18 (S), RM 25 (M), RM 35 (L)
An excellent vegetarian dish cooking 4 varieties of vegetables with different colour and texture such as pumpkin (orange/soft), bitter gourd (green/bitter), lotus root (brown/crunchy), and last but not least the brinjal (purple/soft).
Hand battered and fried to a crunchy golden brown making the vegetables crunchy on the outside and different textures for each of the vegetables on the inside. Simple yet tasty, they are tossed with chopped chillies, salt and pepper for the extra kick just before serving - a combination that almost never fails!
To complete our sumptuous dining experience at Fortuna Palace, we were treated to a refreshing and sourish Lemongrass Jelly to cleanse our palate after a full-filling meal. Lemongrass is boiled for 2 hours to extract its natural flavour and fragrance, followed by some lemon juice and jelly to set the dessert. Served with mint leaves, sweetened lychees and cherries for the final act.
Double Boiled Apple With Dates
Next dessert on the table is the Double Boiled Apple With Dates. Well, if the sour Lemongrass Jelly does not appeal to you, you can pick this healthy and soothing double boiled desserts for a change. Packed with nutrition, a fragrant and nutritious traditional Chinese sweet soup, it is a very good and sweet tonic drink to soothe the lungs. It's more suited for the older folks who are not used to cold desserts too.
Wine Pairing Service
For those who enjoy wine with their meal, Fortuna Palace also provides wine service from their vast collection of wines in their premise. With an in-house sommelier, wine pairing is made possible where the wine steward will assist to pair wines that will best complement each dish in the food menu.
