PUN CHUN NOODLE HOUSE
Now, you need not travel far to Bidor town to savour the original Pun Chun famous roast duck noodles. Pun Chun Restaurant established in Bidor, Perak since 7 decades ago in the 1940s, is well-known for its Duck Drumstick Noodle, Wan Ton Noodle and not forgetting the all-time famous Chicken Biscuit and Shat Kek Ma.
In May 2008, Pun Chun Noodle House was set up in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam. Just like the original, Pun Chun Noodle House offers the same mouth watering cuisines. KLites can now easily satisfy their cravings for a sumptuous meal within the Klang Valley vicinity itself.
In addition, Pun Chun Noodle House has branched out in Klang Valley. Our outlets can also be found in Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya & Setia Alam, Shah Alam. Both venues are accessible through major highway in Klang Valley.
I chanced upon this outlet during my trip to Bandar Rimbayu at Teluk Panglima Garang to attend one of IJM Land's Family Day media event. The last time I tried the iconic duck drumstick noodles was way back 20 odd years ago. OMG, I really do miss eating their tasty wonton noodles!
Once you stepped inside, your senses will detect the lingering aromatic herbs smell all around the restaurant. The corner shop lot looks clean and airy with spacious seating. Service was good; once seated, your order will be taken and food will be served in less than 3 mins. I was there during the late afternoon just before closing time and I guessed you might have to wait a bit longer during the peak lunch hour if you choose to eat there during the lunch time.
Succulent & Tender Roast Duck Drumstick
RM 7.50 (Duck Soup Only)
The highlight of the day was, of course, the long-awaited BIDOR Duck Drumstick Noodles Duck Mee. Simply irresistible serving of a big juicy piece of duck drumstick in a double-boiled herbal soup. Pun Chun 7 decades of family's secret recipe is all in this special flavourful herbal broth.
I found generous portions of herbs such as dried wolfberries (kei chee), dried longans, ginger, mushrooms among other ingredients to brew this savoury-sweet and fragrant delicious broth. I'm sure you will love the broth to the last drop, just like how I had it - good to the last spoonful! Awesome dish indeed .....
100% Handmade Wanton Noodles
RM 3.30 (Big) RM 2.30 (Small)
As good as the herbal duck broth could be, the tastiness of the dish was further enhanced by their hand made wanton noodles, again from their age old 7 decades recipe. Springy and fine, not soft at all, Pun Chun 100% handmade noodles has the right texture that goes well with the dry version or even the soup version.
Slurpy and tasty, you might want to have another bowl of just plain wanton noodles to go with the herbal broth together with the fork-tender, melt-in-mouth duck drumstick. Big bowl priced at RM 9.80 while a small bowl priced at RM 8.80. Add-Ons of Noodles only (Dry/Soup) is RM 3.30 (Big) and RM 2.30 (Small).
Dry Curry Pork Rib Noodles
RM 7.50 (Big) RM 6.50 (Small)
Another good choice is the Dry Curry Pork Rib Noodles, especially if you're craving for spicy porky treats. Delectable cuts of pork spare ribs cooked in creamy and thick curry gravy. I can taste that they used fresh herbs and spices to cook the dry curry, making it an excellent choice to eat with their 100% springy wanton noodles. I lost count of how many chunks of ribs served in my plate of goodness, but I still can remember that it was one of the best I tasted so far!
Check this out the big and chunky piece of dry curry pork ribs!
The Curry Pork Ribs topping the noodles tasted awesomely delicious in every bite. I tell you that the ribs tasted better than it looked, the spicy gravy adds flavour and taste to the spring wanton noodles. The soft texture of spare ribs meat must have gone through a tedious cooking process to ensure all the herbs and curry spices penetrated deeply so that the taste stay in.
Bill For The Day
Pun Chun Restaurant in Bidor is also famous for their confectionery products. Therefore, you will find some local produce such as white coffee powder, traditional Chinese cookies such as Shat Kek Ma, classic Heong Paeng, Chicken biscuits (Kai Chai Paeng), sesame puffs and others.

Being the legend that brought up this famous dish of duck drumstick cooked in an herbal soup, served with egg noodles since 1940’s, you must at least try this dish once if you have not tasted herbal duck soup before. Some many love the strong herbal broth and some may not get used to the strong taste of duck soup served with noodles at all.
But for me, trying out the Pun Chun Duck Drumstick noodles in Shah Alam recently does bring back lots of warm and nice memories during my younger carefree days when I was a young lady in my twenties. Well, it's so true when people used to say that food does tell a story!
