Sungai Janggut Seafood Restaurant @ Jalan Bagan Sungai Janggut Kapar Kuala Selangor

Sungai Janggut ~ Kuala Selangor
Food Tripping
As I continue my culinary trip from Sekinchan, the lively fishing village to another fishing village in Kuala Selangor which is also famous for fresh and cheap seafood. This time my food tripping brought my family and I to a secluded seafood restaurant located by a river, hence it is called Sungai Janggut Seafood Restaurant.

Located by the river bank at Sungai Janggut, you can be assured of the freshest of the fresh seafood while dining in this restaurant. There were abundance of live oysters, crabs and fishes kept in tanks and pond within the spacious compound of the restaurant by the river.

 Live Oysters

Big Pond to keep the Live Oysters

We had really super fresh, sumptuous and delicious seafood dinner at Sungai Janggut Seafood Restaurant. Pricing was very affordable and value for money, seriously something you cannot find back in Klang Valley. Their crabs, prawns and bamboo clams dishes is a Must-try, something you should not miss out. Oh yes, do not forget to order their 'German Pig Foot' dish, which is actually 'Pork Knuckle' priced at an unbelievable tag of RM 45.

 Steamed Crab with Egg
RM 50

Crab-lovers will simply fall in love at first sight with this luscious-looking freshly steamed mud crabs. My crab-loving family always enjoyed crabs cooked in any style, but for this time. we choose to have it steam in order to check out the degree of freshness in the crabs served here.

Crab-licious Crustacean  Dish

Serving portion was generous as 3 large crabs cost us only RM 50. Succulent and sweet-tasting crabs cooked beautifully with shredded ginger to enhance the flavour resting on a bed of smooth silken egg. The freshness was especially prominent when you bite into the meat. The steamed egg mixed with the juices from the steamed crabs makes it a splendid dish. Crustacean lovers, you do not want to miss this dish.

 Kam Hiong Bamboo Lala
RM 15

Kam Hiong Bamboo Lala is an extremely aromatic dish to try out if you love bamboo clams. Full of wok-hei when cooked with bird eye chillies, garlic, ginger, dried shrimps with curry leaves for that unique fragrant.

Large Size
Chunky & Tender Tasting Bamboo Clams

We love our clams cooked in 'Kam Hiong' style as we enjoyed the spicy, savoury and sweet at the same time, truly fierce flavours to tempt your palate. Be warned, it's a highly addictive seafood dish with springy and fresh bamboo clams cooked in such fiery flavours!

German Pig Foot aka Pork Knuckle
RM 45

Crispy Pork Knuckle

Deeply flavoured skin crackle and crunch with the slightest touch of your teeth, and the meat is moist, tender, and flavourful.

Menu for Pork Dishes

Haha... next dish has a funny name to it - They named the German Pork Knuckle dish as 'German Pig Foot'. Anyway, this is a Must-Have or Must-Order dish for any diners coming here. Size of the pork knuckle is way too much for my family of 5 to finish it that day, so we happily have it packed or 'tapau' to be enjoyed at home the next day.

Served in bite-size pieces, the cubed chunks of deep-fried pork were crunchy, fragrant and well-marinated. Delectable even without sauce, these porky delights goes so perfectly with chilled bavarian beer. Well-executed dish and paying RM 45 only for this pork knuckle is crazy cheap!

 Coconut Tomyam Prawns
RM 30

This is one of Sungai Janggut Seafood Restaurant Signature dishes to try out if you like coconut water. I was in fact quite sceptical to try it at last as I have never tried any dish cooked with coconut water before. Foodie remains foodie, we just got to try every new dish that comes our way and gives our verdict, right?

Well, this tom yam soup is different from the usual ones we tried. Less spicy and not that fragrant without much fresh herbs. A milder version as it's cooked with fresh coconut water and it had it own unique flavour when cooked with the fresh prawn. Good choice if you don't mind a less fiery tom yam soup!

 Crab Meat Tofu
RM 15

Our last dish ordered from the menu was this Crab Meat Tofu. It was intended for my young son which is not a seafood lovers and he loves tofu in any form. It was too soft, not crispy and kind of sticky too, lacking in crab flavours. None of us liked it and you can forget about ordering this dish.

 Deep Fried Crispy Anchovies
Complimentary Dish

Crunchy bites, fried to golden brown with spicy dry chillies for an extra kick. This deep fried wonder is crispy and flavourful, a good dish to go with beer. Crunch with the slightest touch of your teeth, it was an addictive dish especially for my son who loves eating it with his hot steaming bowl of white rice. I was told that if diners ordered a considerable amount of dishes, usually this dish is served as a complimentary dish to all diners.

My Dinner Selection - A Good Mix of Prawns, Clams, Pork & Tofu

Full Bill ~ RM 164

Our bill came to RM 164 which consists of 4 seafood dish together with a pork knuckle, 6 bowls of rice (RM 1 each) and chinese tea at RM 3. Cute bill, very 'canggih' as it even print the average cost per pax - RM 32.80 for our family of five.

So if you are craving for some crabs or wanna eat some pork knuckle but tight on budget, take a short culinary trip to Sungai Janggut, Kapar for a sumptuous gastronomic adventure with your family and friends!
