Chef Akram Ali, Executive Pastry Chef of Hilton Kuala Lumpur introduces ‘Enchanting Tête-à-tête’ to give guests an unique afternoon tea session by bringing his culinary expertise into pastries at The Lounge.

Originally from Bhubaneswar, Chef Akram has spent decades perfecting the art of pastry creations in Riyadh and Mumbai. He has previously worked for some of the world’s most iconic hotels such as Marriot, Four Seasons, The Westin, Kempinski Hotel and The Leela Place. 

Getting his passion from his uncle who enjoyed baking, and was among the best pastry chefs in the country, Akram, from a tender age, started envisioning a career like him. This resulted in him pursuing a craftsmanship course in food production years later. 

Specializes in modern & traditional pastry, chocolate showpieces and sugar art, Chef Akram’s precision and eye for detail are second to none. With a love for interaction and discovery, the global chef and his international team will serve a new versatile afternoon tea menu for Hilton Kuala Lumpur. 

The menu will showcase both classic and contemporary pastries with Chef Akram’s personal touch to it. For the savoury bites, guests can look forward to Poached Tiger Prawn Cocktail Open Sandwich on Toasted Brioche, Roast beef, Caramelised onion, Wholegrain Mustard Cream Fraiche with Rocket Salad in Multigrain Roll, Mini Chicken and Root Vegetables Cornish Pie and more. 

The must-try desserts include Plain & Raisin Scones with Devonshire Clotted Cream and Hilton Kuala Lumpur’s Signature Hibiscus Jam, Coffee & Chocolate Éclair, Deconstructed English Trifle and Strawberry Hibiscus Macaroon. Guests can also sip on a selection of tea blends such as The Earls, the Oolongs, Green & Whites Blends and more to further wind down. 

“Each menu item is an edible work of art,” said Chef Akram. “My goal of making pastry is to help provide a uniquely delectable dining experience, and even more wonderful memories for Hilton’s guests, with my imaginative creations.” 

Available from November 2020 onwards, the high tea will be served from 2:30pm – 5:30pm on weekdays and 12:30pm – 5:30pm on weekends. It is priced at RM98 Nett per person.
