Nothing can be as authentic as having traditional Thai cuisine in PIM'S & THE RAMA Real Thai Restaurant & Bar At Aman Suria Damansara, Petaling Jaya as cooks from Thailand use their families' secret recipes to dish up meals here, hence is said to be like those cooked in Thai homes.

APPETISERS & SIDE DISHES
My amazing gastronomical Thai-licious dining started off with Rama’s Beloved Fried Donut Prawns (Tod Man Gong) which got me hooked.

 Rama’s Beloved Fried Donut Prawns
(Tod Man Gong)
RM 18.90 (4 pcs)
RM 25 (6 pcs)

Loved the pure minced prawn and fish paste, made into a dough and coated with breadcrumbs, deep-fried to a golden crispy, giving a nice tender on every bite. The chef was generous to include chopped whole prawns for the extra meaty kick. Recommended ~ A MUST-TRY dish!

Pim's Pandan Chicken
RM 17.90 (4 pcs)
RM 23.90 (6 pcs)

For chicken appetisers, I just have to try my all-time-favourite Pim's Pandan Chicken. Another winner for it's juicy and well-marinated chicken thigh meat.

I was told that chef steamed the marinated chicken to let the flavours set in before giving it a light quick deep-fry for the extra crispiness and charred bits on the outside. Addictive dish, best eaten with a cool Chang beer.

Thai BBQ Pork Sticks (Moo Ping)
RM 12 (3 pcs)
RM 15.90 (5 pcs)

Thai food is always big on PORK ~ we had the Thai BBQ Pork Sticks (Moo Ping). Goodness,  tasting this again reminds me of the Thailand street food we had in Bangkok with the endless yummy moo pings sold at 10 Bahts each, all freshly grilled at the roadside.

Thai BBQ Grilled Pork Neck (Kor Moo Yang)
RM 19

Next up, one crowd favourite and my hubby's one too is the Thai BBQ Grilled Pork Neck (Kor Moo Yang), where you get a platter of thinly sliced tender pork neck meat, marinated and grilled, then served with homemade dipping sauce.

Made daily fresh with 70% lean meat and 30% fat, the pork neck is given deep marination overnight before grilling.

Pim's Super Seafood Tom Yum Pot
Dining at any Thai restaurants is never complete without trying their Tom Yum. Well, at PIM'S & THE RAMA, they have it big and grand with a lavish offering of 'Pim's Super Seafood Tom Yum Pot', filled with ocean delights with an array of  13 fresh ingredients of seafood, mushroom, vegetables and noodles.

Pim's Super Seafood Tom Yum Pot
RM 88 (1-2 pax)
RM 155 (3-4 pax)
RM 288 (6-8 pax)
Tom Yum Soup Refillable

PIM'S & THE RAMA version's creamy and rich with coconut milk, where diners can select the level of spiciness they desired from the normal spicy or super spicy. This super pot of goodness had plenty of seafood such as LIVE black prawns, NZ green mussels, crayfish, squids, abalone slice, Japanese lala, scallops, fishballs, soft shell crab, Thai roast pork, mushroom, Onsen eggs, Pim's Thai QQ noodles cooked in the Pim's famous Tom Yum soup.

Assorted Fresh Ingredients For Tom Yum

Seeing how it was served in a wok above a stove, it was necessary to rush through the Tom Yum and we are able to enjoy it slowly throughout lunch. Oh yes, the best part is the Tom Yum soup is refillable so you can drink to your heart's content without worrying about the extra charge!

For those who loved to have rice or more noodles with the Tom Yum, can order add-ons of Thai Jasmine rice for RM2, noodles RM 2.80, Tung Hoon (Vermicelli) RM 5 and so forth.

Fresh Siakap Steamed With Chili & Lime Soup
( Pra Ka Peng Neng Ma Nao)
RM 65

Another fascinating dish was the Fresh Siakap Steamed With Chili & Lime Soup ( Pra Ka Peng Neng Ma Nao). PIM'S & THE RAMA fish dishes were the highlights as these fresh Siakap fishes are delivered LIVE daily from seafood supplier in Klang coming from a fish farm in Pulau Ketam.

Known also as Barramundi or Asian Seabass, these locally farmed fishes are a breed with special OMEGA RICH fish feed used for well-balanced essential nutrients, proteins and amino acid to boost the immune system, taste and quality yield.

This is Thai spicy and sour fish dish was thoroughly seamed, with soft, tender that tasted delicious when infused with the tangy lime sauce. Add some Chang beer into the soup for aroma and to tone down the spiciness.

Stuffed Steamed Sotong With Chili & Lime Soup
(Pa Meng Neng Ma Nao)
RM 33

Other dishes on the menu included the Stuffed Steamed Sotong With Chili & Lime Soup (Pa Meng Neng Ma Nao).

COCKTAILS BY MEKHONG
 Mekhong - Classic Cocktails

Drink-wise, you can have the requisite stuff such as Thai milk tea or Thai purple drink. But if you are looking for something more exciting alcoholic drinks, perhaps you can try their Mekhong, the Thai whiskey.

Mekhong, Thai's First Whiskey in 1941

Mekhong is Thailand’s first domestically produced branded golden spirit, launching in 1941. Although Mekhong is mainly regarded as a whiskey, it is actually closer to a rum. The spirit is made from 95% sugar cane and 5% rice. The distilled spirit is then blended with a secret recipe of herbs and spices.

Mekhong can further add a refreshing twist to a variety of classic cocktails, resulting in the drinks perfect for unwinding at the bar or enjoying with a meal.

Open for nearly a year now, PIM'S & THE RAMA's menu is well-suited to those who are looking for some beyond the normal Thai fare. They focus more on homey, 'village-style' dishes where diners can enjoy true good authentic Thai cuisine in a cosy environment with family and friends.

The restaurant also serves affordable and value-for-money lunch set priced RM 13.90 only with a main, Thai salad, soup and snack from 11am to 3:30pm daily.
