Prosperity With A Muhibbah Twist:
Chinese New Year 2026 At
De.Wan 1958 By Chef Wan
When it comes to celebrating the lunar festivities with a uniquely Malaysian soul, few places do it better than De.Wan 1958 By Chef Wan. Auntie Lilly was recently invited to a preview of their Chinese New Year 2026 menu, and it was a "Maiden Visit" that left me thoroughly impressed.

If you are looking for a reunion dinner that steps away from the traditional Chinese restaurant setting while maintaining the essence of "Lousang" and togetherness, this is the place to be.

An Instagrammable British Colonial Setting
Before we talk about the food, we have to talk about the space! The restaurant is a visual treat, boasting a British Colonial interior design. With its high ceilings, lush floral motifs, and sophisticated colonial-era charm, every corner is incredibly photogenic and "Instagrammable." It’s the perfect backdrop for those annual family reunion photos!
A Feast for the Senses: CNY Set 1
For our session, we indulged in Set 1, designed for 9-10 pax and priced at RM 1288++. If you have a larger group or want even more premium ingredients, they also offer Set 2 (RM 1588++) and Set 3 (RM 1988++).
The Highlight: Golden Jade Prosperity Toss (Yee Sang)
The meal started with a bang! The Golden Jade Prosperity Toss was easily the highlight of the entire course for me. It wasn’t just a salad; it was a masterpiece.
The Taste: It perfectly captures Chef Wan’s signature style—a "Muhibbah" feel that blends Chinese tradition with refreshing Malay flavors and inspirations. It was tangy, sweet, and incredibly refreshing.
The Main Courses: A Curated Symphony
The mains were a well-balanced spread of fish, seafood, chicken, and vegetables, all served in generous portions:
Five Blessings Steamed Fish
Fresh and perfectly steamed with a delicate balance of flavors.
Signature Green Lamb Opor
A standout dish! The lamb was slow-cooked until tender in a rich, aromatic green coconut gravy.
Auspicious Jumbo Sotong
Large, succulent squid rings cooked in a flavorful spiced gravy.
Golden Orange Treasure Chicken
A festive classic with a zesty twist.
Four Treasures Belacan King Vegetables
A crunchy, umami-rich vegetable medley that tied the meal together.
Nasi Bunga Telang
Nasi Pandan Delima
Double the Rice, Double the Happiness
Instead of plain white rice, we were served two beautiful varieties: Nasi Bunga Telang (a striking blue) and Nasi Pandan Delima (a vibrant pinkish-red). Not only were they fragrant and fluffy, but they are also refillable upon request at no extra charge!
Tropical Fruits Platter
Gula Melaka Sago Pearls
Sweet Endings
We wrapped up our satisfying meal with a refreshing Tropical Fruits Platter and a crowd-favorite: Gula Melaka Sago Pearls. It was the perfect light and sweet conclusion to a very heavy and satisfying feast.
The Verdict
De.Wan 1958 has successfully curated a Chinese New Year menu that feels premium yet homey. The fusion of flavors is masterfully done, and the ambiance makes the dining experience feel like a true celebration.
