The Roadside Stall Is Right Opposite Of Restaurant Al Hameeds

A hidden gem located just opposite Restaurant Al Hameeds, you get to taste some of the best eats of Malaysian authentic Terengganu's cuisine right from this humble gerai tepi jalan! 

Look out for this Mamak shop when driving along the main road and you can spot the roadside stall right opposite Restaurant Al Hameeds. There are many stalls along the stretch of the road peddling a variety of food starting from Nasi Lemak, Burger, BBQ Ayam Madu, Goreng Pisang, Yong Tau Foo, Char Koay Teow among others.

When There's A Queue, There's Always Good Food 

Actually, this was an accidental find for us as we were driving around this area looking for a bite for dinner but was curious to see a long queue at this particular gerai tepi jalan. 'Go Eat Where The Local Eats' is best explained here and they stand out as the only stall with brisk business going on!

A generous portion of the Nasi Hujan Panas (Rainbow Rice) ~ To the initiated, this authentic Nasi Hujan Panas is a Nasi Minyak of Terengganu or Ghee Rice. 

Gulai Ayam

We loved the Gulai Ayam - The chicken portion was big and the meat was tender and juicy while the Gulai gravy was very flavourful, completely fragrant with herbs and spices. The lady boss also offered us several pieces of chicken feet when packing for us! So sweet of her.... 

Ayam Masak Merah

Those who enjoyed the rich sweet and savoury sauce should try their Ayam Masak Merah. It's been a while since I had such a delicious well-cooked Malay-style dish. Everything was in place, not too spicy nor too sweet with the right balance to the dish. Here again, we requested breast meat and the portion was quite big too!      

This colourful Rainbow Rice is best paired with Gulai Ayam, Ayam Masak Merah, Kurma Daging or Kurma Ayam and is never without a side of Acar Timun (Pickled Cucumber) to complete the whole Nasi Minyak ensemble.
