Auntie Lilly All-Gear up to Cook

Fun & Exciting Cooking in Action

At this recent food review, both my partner and I had a fun and exciting evening with a hands-on cooking session learning to make our very own Maccha Mousse. It was a memorable and wonderful experience for us as they were some hits and misses during the process but our Japanese mousse did turn out fine as we were assisted by Chef Koji and his dedicated, helpful assistants during the session.

When it comes to food, nothing can beat the Japanese in taste, freshness and presentation. And Kansai is where some of the finest produce comes from, be it sake, seafood, meat or vegetables.

Refreshing ~ Kyo Mizuna Salad

We started off with an appetiser of Kyo Mizuna Salad, which is Kyoto mustard greens Salad with crispy anchovies and Raw onions rings tossed with Wasabi Dressings.

I found this salad simply appetizing for its freshness and crisp.  Loves the taste of bits of crispy anchovies as I munch through the fresh salad drizzled with the savoury wasabi dressing. But remember to go slow on the dressing as it may be a bit too salty as it did for me.

Peppery Delights ~ Fushima Amanaga Togarashi
Next, was the unassuming dish ~ Fushima Amanaga Togarashi, Grilled marinated Sweet Green Pepper with Special Sauce.

Looking very similar to our local chilli padi, but without the spiciness, this tiny green peppers was considered to be one of the most spicy and hot peppers for the Japanese. An interesting dish for me, eating some Japanese chilli padi with bonitos flakes without the 'kick'.

Standing Out ~ Tennen Hamachi Sashimi

If you have a yen for sashimi, the Tennen Hamachi Sashimi is bound to win you over, with its delectable slices of Raw Wild Yellowtail, all nestled on a bed of crush ice for freshness and served together with sesame leaf, seaweed and a dollop wasabi. Spanklingly fresh with silken texture in a culinary class of its own,  was simply heaven to taste!

Grilled to Prefection ~ Kamashu Shioyaki

Our last dish made a great entrance that was Kamashu Shioyaki, healthy dish of Grilled Japanese Barracuda with Salt. The freshness of this pointed head fish was top-notch, with its white flesh falling off the bone.

The sweetness of the fish was accented by the in-house made light shoyu dressing with some wasabi, a wonderful accompaniment with my hot sake.

Tempting Treat ~ Maccha Mousse

For the final act, our creation of Maccha Mousse was served to end our memorable dinner. A chilled delight made with a simple concoction of whipping cream, fresh milk, egg white, maccha paste, gelatin powder and sugar.

Chef Koji prepared some azuki bean, glutinous rice cake and 'gold leaf' topping as final touch to our special mousse dessert.

The taste of bitterness of green teas complements well with the sweetness and texture of the red bean. Pairing sweet azuki beans with maacha mousse was truly a perfect match for each other each and every time.

Cold Sake served with Special Dispenser

Healthy Hot Sake with Cleansing Effect

For those interested in sake to go with their meals, there is also the hot and cold sake where diners can taste some of the specially chosen sake imported direct from the Japanese brewery. Choose from the famous Nagasaki Sake ~ 'Nagasaki Junmai Ginjo Sake' to Masuda Sake ~ Masuizumi Jyunmai Daiginjo sake. Try sake warmed, at room temperature, or even serve chilled on ice in a cocktail for a refreshing drink.

Unique Sake Dispenser

High quality Sake

"These are pure rice sake; made from high quality sake made using premium quality rice and it's without alcohol. You can drink this all night long and won't get a hangover the next day drinking this," says Madam Chiharu Yabe, General Manager of award-winning Japanese restaurant, Kampachi.

Kampachi Collection of Japanese Tea

Kampachi boasts of having the largest collection of Japanese Tea offered by a single Japanese restaurant in Malaysia. Diners are spoilt for choice with a wide range of authentic tea ranging from Peach Tea, Plum Tea, Rice Tea to even the Special Golden Leave Tea. Choose from an extensive variety of divine imported tea and get ready for a heightened tea drinking experience with your family and friends.

Overall, I had a truly memorable  dining experience at Kampachi, which is arguably the best Japanese restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. The award-wining Kampachi with a history of 40 years had maintained its quality and standard through the years with its philosophy that they want their food to be fresh and original.

They serve the finest air-flown sashimi from the famed Tsukiji market in Tokyo. Their Ginza-trained master chefs are also very passionate about each plate they serve to ensure guests get a taste of an absolutely authentic dining experience.

This lovely restaurant exudes a luxurious, private and sophisticated dining ambience for anyone to enjoy and be prepared to feast upon an endless parade of textures and flavours in an unforgettable dining experience.

Premier Clinic TTDI - My Aesthetic Experience With Botox & Fillers with Dr Chen Tai Ho (Part 2)

When I was first introduced to aesthetic treatments and procedures many months ago, I was quite skeptical as to what results I can achieve with it. Well, looking back after my Medlite laser treatments (click: Part 1, Part 2 & Final Part - Medlite laser ) , it had certainly given me many positive results. Now my skin is less pigmented, even-toned with significant improvements on my skin texture thus making me look more radiant and younger too.

Although I feel good and confident now with my younger skin, but I am still pretty concerned with the fine lines on my forehead and laugh lines around my mouth that appears spontaneously each and every time I smile or laugh. I'm at the age where I'm starting to feel the effects of ageing.

 Entrance of Premier Clinic TTDI

When I was introduced to Botox and Fillers at Premier Clinic a month ago, I was thrilled to learn about the rejuvenation techniques to help my face reflect the way I feel inside. I am always young at heart, eager to try out anything new and to me age it's only a number.

Click here -  Part 1 of Botox & Fillers Treatments

My filler procedure was quick and easy, less painful as it comes with lidocaine (a type of anaesthetic) during the injection process. I loved it as the result was instant just like magic, my ugly laugh lines around my mouth were removed immediately. Now I can smile wider or laugh confidently without worrying about my lines appearing all over my Auntie face. My forehead lines and crows feet was not visible any more.

My Botox took effect around 8 to 10 days after the treatment and my facial wrinkles gradually smooth as you can see from my picture I posted. I saw the full results now as I'm writing this, they sort of disappeared all together after a month.

On my 2nd follow up visit, Dr Chen Tai Ho did a review of my Botox & Fillers procedures on my areas of treatment.

As for my frown lines, Dr Chen Tai Ho did a touch up for me again as there was slightly visible on my left side on my forehead. This time around it was quick as he performed 2 minor Botox injections to tackle the stubborn frown lines.

I'm truly glad and satisfied with Dr Chen Tai Ho, my aesthetic doctor and the treatments I received from Premier Clinic. I have to say that the staff especially Miss Kan, my beautician for the day was warm and friendly; they had made my visits to Premier Clinic pleasant and nice.

My wrinkles or lines all around my face are gone for now especially the forehead lines. Out with my night wrinkle cream, serum, essence and those mask treatments I used to do hoping that the lines on my face can be removed with these products.

I am pleased with the results, now I can confidently show off my forehead instead of hiding it with my fringes. In fact, I thought of sporting a new hairdo now to show off my wrinkle-free forehead !

I feel good cause I look good now. Below are photos taken of me during my food blogging sessions shows a naturally radiant and refreshed appearance of Auntie Lilly now :-)

Botox and Fillers are now one of the most exciting skin rejuvenation cosmetic procedures designed to reduce the signs  of ageing, offered by aesthetics doctors at Premier Clinic in TTDI.

Fillers are the mainstay of non-surgical cosmetic facial rejuvenation treatments. An extremely effective way of adding volume to deeper layers and hydration to superficial layers of your skin. At the same time, Botox a remarkable safe therapeutic option for wrinkles, used to relax the specific facial muscles and make lines less obvious.

Absolutely perfect for those looking for an instant results to rejuvenate themselves. It's safe and quick, the aesthetic results are almost immediate. Offers no downtime, you'll see a noticeable difference as soon as your appointment is over. The best part of all is that the results are so natural that no one else will know.

I would recommend Premier Clinic to my friends and family and everyone without hesitation. Call them today to schedule for an appointment and let Premier Clinic make a change in your life!

Frontera Sol Mexico ~ Capturing the Soul of Tex-Mex Cuisine @Jaya One Petaling Jaya

If food serves as a sneak peak of a country's culture and cuisine, then the Frontera Sol Mexico offers a tantalising insight into what a Latin American country has to offer. Located in Jaya One, a trendy lifestyle hub, this place is fast becoming the popular place to go for authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine while serving one of the fresh lime Margaritas in Malaysia.

Indoor Dining Area

Dim illuminations exude a sense of calm with dusky-coloured floor tiles and glossy wooden features set to welcome patrons. The soft dim lighting paints everything in a warm, orange glow, and I liked that they didn't overdo the décor with too many traditional antiques, instead opting for something more modern and minimal.

The Bar Lounge

Frontera Sol Mexico exudes a relaxed and welcoming ambience that has made it a popular dining and drinking destination for both city office workers and the residents of the Petaling Jaya. They offers a multifaceted concept, combining a gourmet all-day dining restaurant, together with a vibrant bar.

The Frontera Sol Mexico is surely one of a kind and will be a good place to chill out with a few friends to savour their range of margaritas, cocktails, Mexican beers and 100% Agave tequilas. Bottles of alcohol line a part of the wall while smooth wooden fittings along with warm lights illuminate the bar lounge.

Settle yourselves down amid the soothing ambiance with both air-conditioned indoor and al fresco dining ambience and get served with delectable delicacies comprising of Golden Chicken Tenders, Chili Con Queso, Crispy Taco Salad, Tex-Mex Burrito to Sizzling Fajita Platters, Chicken Ranch Sandwich and even a Homemade Mexican Flan!

Outdoor Al Fresco Seating

There is also a terrace outside for people who prefer to dine and drink al fresco -  Breezy and stylish with natural lighting by day, serving a wide range of Tex-Mex delights. This place offers a comfortable and contemporary dining space for you and your friends to dine in.

Frontera's Menu recommended for Sharing

Frontera's famous for interesting dishes and drinks such as Huevos Ranchero, Habanero Wings, Fish Tacos, Tex-Mex Burritos, Chilli Cheese Burger, Keylime Pie to The Don, Pina Colada and not forgetting their ultimate Horny Margaritas, as voted by TimeOutKL  as the Best in Kuala Lumpur.

Frontera Fiesta Platter ~ RM 39.95++

The Frontera Fiesta Platter is a wonderful mouth watering platter bite-sized treats for everyone. Good for sharing, its consists of Savoury Jalapeno Crab Cakes, Crispy Taquitos de Pollo, Stuffed Jalapenos and BBQ Buffalo Wings. A great appetiser which goes well with your Margaritas and Mexican beers too!

One for the Album with the Appetising Platter

As I have mention that the portion can be shared as a appetiser or alternatively, if one is hungry or perhaps greedy, it is ideal as a main course too. On the other hand, you can have the option of ordering the individual item from the menu if you like.

Jalapeno Crab Cakes

This ranked Top in my list of the platter spread. Being a pegedil or croquette lovers, it's love of first sight as I goes crazy with anything that is served as cutlet. Crab cakes are smooth and soft, bursting with crabby flavour upon each bite. Crunchy on outside and moist on the inside, fried to perfection and served with jalapeño remoulade. And for that, it’s get a thumbs up from me.

Taquitos de Pollo

Another winner for my taste buds. They are chicken wrapped in corn tortilla bites and fried to a golden delightful crisp on the outside. Addictive food, goes well with dipping sauce of  salsa verde and sour cream that comes with it. All I can say is that I really enjoy munching on the crispy yet succulent Mexican chicken rolls.

Stuffed Jalapenos

This particular bites didn't goes well with my taste buds, probably I never had a liking to sourish food. The crunchy hand breaded jalapenos stuffed with cheese, comes served with ranch dressing.

BBQ Buffalo Wings

These grilled chicken wings are served glazed with Frontera's signature BBQ sauce, together with ranch dressing. Well, all I can say is that I miss out on this dish and didn't get to try it. So I can't say much about this.

Sizzling Fajitas Con Pollo Asudo (Chicken) ~ RM 35.95++

Next up is the Fajitas Con Pollo Asudo. Served on a sizzling hot plate, this aromatic dish looks so good and smell good. The succulent and tender grilled breast chicken meat cooked together with red and green pepper, yellow onion and Jack Cheese makes oh-so-tasty especially eaten with the toasted flour tortillas as accompaniments. Plentiful portions, delicious and filling, wonderfully delicious rolls......

Shredded Cheese, Sour Cream, Pico de Gallo & Toasted Floured Tortillas

Hot Pick: Fajitas Con Pollo Asudo

Condiments of Fajitas Con Pollo Asudo

Interesting Creation: Guacamole Bacon Burger ~ RM 26.95++

Frontera's DIY burger with freshly made guacamole, beef bacon, melted Jack Cheese and roasted garlic aioli, tucked between a warm, sesame soft bun.

The Guacamole Bacon Burger is a delightful treat to beef lovers. A whooper pure beef patty comes with numerous ingredients (toppings) in this burger that is wider than the human jaw, everything blends together very well and taste fantastic. Come served with coleslaw and generous portion of paprika coated French fries.

Guacamole Bacon Burger with sides of paprika fries & coleslaw
Chunky & Thick Home made Beef Patty

Next, we are invited to sample some of Frontera's new offerings such as Tacone (Lamb & Fish), Beef Stuffed Jalapeno and lastly some Deep Fried Squid. These are just new items soon to be included in their menu and still under 'testing & tasting' stage.

Tacone ~ Fish
The Fish Tacos makes a good and tasty starter.  The fish is fresh and chunky coated with batter to be deep fried to perfection. Crispy and flavourful when eaten together with fried taco stuffed with shredded cabbage, Very appetising, the fish fillet and crunchy tacos with cabbage give up lovely flavours and contrasting texture with every bite.

Tacone ~ Lamb

Next comes the Tacone ~ Lamb which is a lovely tacos fixings rolled up in a tortilla cone. How clever! Minced lamb with other fillings, hand-wrapped in corn tortillas into a cone then flash fried till golden brown. Deliciously accompanied with a variety of garnishes/fillings such salsa, onions, guacamole and top up with melted cheese.

Frontera just got a new twist with these fun, customizable taco cones, playing around the idea of serving crunchy starter in a taco shell shaped like a cone. How interesting, the end product is akin to a hot, savoury 'ice-cream'...

Beef Stuffed Jalapenos
This is quite similar to their current appetizers' menu ~ Stuffed Jalapenos with Cheese. Fillings of minced beef is used instead of cheese, hand-breaded and deep fried to perfect crisp; served with home made Ranch dressing.

These beef stuffed jalapeno are better than the earlier ones. Loved the beefy goodness, definitely enjoyable for those who love a good robust flavour of the beefy goodness.

Deep Fried Squid

Well, as for the Deep Fried Squid; it didn't turn up as good as I expected. Although the serving is generous with big, thick and chunky rings of fresh chewy squid, but it's not up to the mark in term crispiness. Batter is probably too thick or wrong choice of coating used and still moist within, so the management got to re-tweak ... the recipe altogether again before introducing to the diners.

All Time Best Seller: Horny Margarita ~ RM 24.95++

Being a non-drinker during my food review sessions, I'm quite reluctant to order any alcoholic drinks and thought of just having some lemonade, ice lemon tea or even plain water will do just fine for me most of the time.

But I make an exception for this, upon watching the rest of the fellow bloggers merrily enjoying themselves with a  few sessions of margaritas throughout the tasting session. Ramesh, the restaurant manager recommend us to try out Frontera's most famous margaritas ~ the Horny Margarita, the restaurant's all-time best seller.

Sauza Hornitos Reposado

Horny Margarita takes on a smooth, mature character with pure 100% Agave flavour. I have my first Hornitos on the rocks on a classic 'salted rim' glass with a squeeze of lime. Initial taste gives a fruity agave sweetness with a touch of alcohol and it leaves a balanced warm, mellow finish.

I actually developed a liking towards this drink! Definitely a little on fruity side, I recommend this tequila 'hands-down' to people new to tequila just like me. If I'm coming back, I'm definitely going to order this for myself again the next time .....

Happy Hours Promo

If you want to just chill and drink, make sure to visit during its happy hour, every Sundays & Mondays; All Day, All Night and on Tuesdays to Saturdays from 5pm to 8pm only. Certainly a great place for parties and celebrations ....
