Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the newly opened Hock Kee Kopitiam (福气安康) at Central i-City, Shah Alam. Having opened its doors in early 2026, this Halal-certified gem is already becoming a popular destination for families looking for authentic Malaysian soul food in a beautiful, nostalgic setting.

The Vibe: Modern Nostalgia

Located at LG-12, Hock Kee Kopitiam perfectly captures the "Food of Olden Days." The ambiance strikes a lovely balance between traditional kopitiam charm and modern comfort. With clean lines, cozy seating, and a warm atmosphere, it’s an ideal spot to "Unwind and Be Happy" (as their name suggests!) after a day of shopping.

We dove straight into their extensive menu, which features everything from signature laksas to fusion chicken chops. Here’s a breakdown of our meal:

Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken

We washed everything down with their signature Iced Nanyang Kopi (RM 6.20)—thick, bold, and exactly how a traditional coffee should be. For a more modern palate, the Iced Matcha Latte (RM 13.90) was surprisingly refined and refreshing.
