The event opened with the soothing sounds of the Angklung, a symbol of Malaysia’s cultural richness, before transitioning into high-energy beats by DJ Syabil, setting the stage for a playful cultural fusion.
Guests enjoyed the best of both worlds — sipping on Kopi Dulu, Palm Garden’s nostalgic kampung-style brew paired with local kuih, while sampling live-cooked favourites like cucur udang and keropok lekor.

Hanson Leong, Hotel Manager of Palm Garden Hotel, Gives A Welcoming Speech
“Kopi has always been more than just a drink — it’s about ritual, connection, and storytelling. With Kopi Dulu Meets Hetam, we wanted to celebrate Malaysia’s heritage while introducing new expressions of coffee culture to our guests,” said Hanson Leong, Hotel Manager of Palm Garden Hotel.
The programme featured a mix of storytelling, live demonstrations, and musical performances — from a kampung coffee ritual led by Palm Garden’s team to Hetam’s cocktail demo. Traditional Angklung rhythms, now set to be a Saturday highlight at Palm Garden’s Kopi Dulu sessions, blended seamlessly with DJ Syabil’s contemporary beats to embody the “old meets new” spirit of the day.
The activation, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Brew with Benefits campaign, which continues until the end of the year, reflects Palm Garden Hotel’s commitment to creating meaningful experiences that bridge tradition with contemporary culture. New Marriott Bonvoy signups will enjoy points and an additional giant cookie with every coffee order at all outlets in the hotel.
