When you order this dish, its presentation draws curious looks from diners, with its sight and sound to tempt everyone at the dinner table!
We enjoyed the dish very much; tasted heavenly - juicy and tender with the untampered flavour of the meat that came through well with just salt and pepper to taste.
Diners can choose between any level of doneness for the steak, but I would recommend medium!
Pork Hamburg Curry Stew
Moving on, my personal favourite for the night has to be Pork Hamburg Curry Stew, priced at RM 32 only. It arrived swimming in a puddle of sweet-savoury and slightly spicy Japanese Curry Sauce with a poached egg.
My Personal Favourite
Japanese Hamburg Steak
The Japanese Hamburg Steak, also known as Hambāgu in Japan, is basically meatloaf with a tender, juicy patty that's loaded with flavour and glazed with a sweet and savoury curry sauce.
The generous portion of the big porky round of seasoned hamburger was well-seasoned and had a slight spiciness and tanginess to it. The meat is succulent and juicy, but the smokiness from the charred bits of the meat seals the deal!
Eating this I wished to have some baguette or warm bread rolls to soak up the umami-rich sauce to the last drop. Yum-mei!
Teppan Garlic Fried Rice
Their Teppan Garlic Fried Rice (RM 11) is another winner in its own right. Packed with 'Wok-Hei' that even Uncle Roger would approve.
A flavourful and fragrant fried rice served on a cast iron hot plate on a bed of 'grilled' omelette. For this, my Fried Rice fans like my son can vouch for it... so simple but yet so delicious.
Teppan Western Pork Belly
You can also try out other signatures Teppan mains dishes such as Teppan Western Pork Belly (RM 38).
For those who are not into beefy steak, you should try out this meltingly tender and juicy pork belly pan-fried with charred bits served with Miso sauce alongside broccoli and corn kernels on the sides.
Teppan Tianjing Rice
Well, rice lovers can delight their palates with Teppan Tianjing Rice (RM 23). The Teppan Tianjing Rice seems to be a crowd favourite too, as one observed some patrons ordering another plate after polishing off one plate.
I believe this is a Japanese-Chinese speciality, consisting of crabmeat and omelette on rice and named after the city of Tianjin in Northern China.
To satiate the starving, small bites or starters are plentiful to choose from the Teppan Sakaba menu, a great accompaniment with their Sake, Whisky and Japanese Beer.
RM 4++ Onwards Per Skewer
Of course, must have has to be their Kushiyaki, priced reasonably from RM4++ onwards per skewer.
Grilled upon order, you ought to try a little bit of everything starting with the chicken wings, chicken gizzards, pork belly, pork shoulder, enoki roll, Shittake roll and more.
Teppan Curry Eggplant
If you love brinjal, you would not go wrong in ordering their Teppan Curry Eggplant (RM18) which just melt-in-your-mouth. Enhanced with the smokiness of mild curry sauce, this would definitely hit the right spot.
My son and hubby go for seconds with the brinjals to be eaten with several bowls of rice, its gravy and all. This dish has great comfort food quality too! Will be back for more of it on my next visit.
Teppan Gyoza Dumplings
Oh yes, there's also the Teppan Gyoza Dumplings (RM 17) if you don't fancy rice. Instead, you can order the unique sizzling hot Teppan Gyoza Dumplings.
These juicy plump-looking bites are unique as such they're served on a cast iron plate resting on an extra layer of thin crispy batter to enhance the tasting experience. Best eaten while it's warm.
Pork lovers will take delight with this porky Osaka Bacon Okonomiyaki, priced at RM 15 only, diners get a generous portion of the popular street food from Osaka, Japan - Japanese Cabbage Pancake or also known as Japanese Pizza.
At Teppan Sakaba, you get to savour the iconic Japanese street food savoury pancake made from heaps of shredded cabbage, topped with bacon, Bonito flakes, seaweed strips and sizzling delicious Okonomiyaki sauce.
Pork Mince Dashimaki
Pork Mince Dashimaki (RM 13) is a treat for egg lovers. Sweet yet savoury, the traditional Japanese rolled omelette is made with egg, Dashi and minced pork for the filling.
We enjoyed the sweetened Japanese rolled omelette, topped with chopped scallions and served with a generous drizzle of their slightly sweet taste the housemade sauce and Japanese mayo.
