Tim Ho Wan New Promotional Dim Sum Menu @Mid Valley - Hong Kong's Most Famous Dim Sum

NEW SENSATIONAL TASTE
FROM TIM HO WAN MALAYSIA
Michelin Star Dim Sum Restaurant
New Range Of Mouth-Watering Promotional Menu

Famous for being the only Michelin-starred dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong, Tim Ho Wan Malaysia are delighting diners with new range of mouth-watering promotional menu for the month of Sept and October 2015.

Honoured and privilege to be invited again, this time around to sample some of Head Chef Tang Kam Lit and Chef Hew Wai Leong latest new dim sum menu for this season. As dim sum is my top favourite food to eat, I was both excited and curious expecting interesting and innovative things in their menu. Well, you see I set a high benchmarked to eating dim sum from this Michelin-starred restaurant. You can view my 1st review: HERE

Let's start off with "Best to Eat" in Auntie Lilly's recommendation.

Cereal Chicken Nuggets
RM 15.80

Cereal Chicken Nuggets was a charming treat. A wonderful creation of tasty chicken thigh coated with a mixed of flour, deep fried to perfection and stir-fried with a concoction of fragrant 'Nestum' cereal, eggs and milk for the added flavour. This is one dish I cannot stop eating as sinful as is it being deep-fried item but seriously the chefs did an excellent job to creating this delightfully tasty indulgence.

Salted Fried Fish Skin
RM 10.80

An appetiser from the new menu, the Salted Fried Fish Skin is exclusively available in Tim Ho Wan 1 Utama outlet. Crispy and well-flavoured, the fish skin are deep-fried before being topped with chilli flakes for the extra kick. Great snack as a starter before savouring the steamed dim sum for a change.

Quail Egg Siew Mai
RM 11.80

The Pork Dumpling with Shrimp, a traditional dim sum, better known as 'siew mai' was given a twist and served topped with quail egg, delicately decorated with black sesame seeds looking so cute and adorable. Delicate skin wrapping the firm prawn paste and tender steamed pork filling, the Quail Egg Siew Mai  was simply delicious to eat in just one bite!

Steamed Fish Maw with Prawn Paste
RM 14.80

Another new favourite, Steamed Fish Maw with Prawn Paste makes quite an impression with its fresh and bouncy texture. Chef Hew added that the prawn are specially selected premium 'pink' prawns ordered for this particular dish. The prawn paste is manually minced or chopped, not machine-blended, so lots of hand-work goes into preparing this savoury morsels. Served on a slice of fish maw, both were winners for great flavour, getting the taste and texture right.

Dumpling With Spicy Sauce
RM 15.80

Head Chef Tang keeps it traditional with serving steamed Dumpling With Spicy Sauce. The house made special spicy black vinegar sauce makes a whole lot of difference to the simple chive meat dumpling with its sourish and savoury flavour.

Freshly Baked Egg Tarts
RM 9.80 for 3 pieces

Leave some space in your tummy for their dessert with Tim Ho Wan's Freshly Baked Egg Tarts. Boasting of a buttery crust and a smooth, silky filling, each crumbly mouthful is just simply satisfying and delicious. Chef Hew explained this dessert was taken off the menu initially as the puff pastry requires lots of handworks, quite tedious to prepare so to say. But it came back due to popular demand from its diners.

With its signature crispy and flaky shell and silky, creamy filling, the egg tart is a perfect dessert after an awesome finish after a delicious dim sum brunch.

Besides the new range of appetisers and mouth-watering dim sum menu, Tim Ho Wan has introduced new taste for 'Evening Specials Menu' from 5pm to 10pm daily. Let's check out the following noodles, rice and even double boiled soup to whet your appetite.

Chicken Soup With Chinese Yam & Wolfberry
RM 14.80

Tim Ho Wan introduction of nutritious and healthy herbal chicken soup was a good choice. Good to take this as a starter to soothe your tired soul after a hard day work in the evening before dinner. The double boiled soup consists of chicken feet, chicken, pork, soothing herbs like wolfberry and red dates for an absolute natural sweetness and tummy-warming soup.

Wonton Noodles Dry
RM 15.80

Noodles eater like me was delighted to see wantan or wonton noodles in the new menu. Tim Ho Wan being a Michelin-starred restaurant in Hong Kong brought in famous noodles in Hong Kong to Malaysia shores for all to savour. Unlike our local wantan noodles, these imported noodles are springy thin, delicate yet al dente, hallmark of noodles houses in Hong Kong. Diners can opt to have the dry version or soup noodles (RM 15.80) which are served in a flavourful clear broth.

Prawn wontons on the other hand, were a class of its own - fresh chunky prawns packed into a big ping pong sized dumpling that gave a tasty crunch on every bite. Since the prawn wontons come in 4 pieces per serving, one could always order their Shrimp Wonton Soup (RM 16.80) to satisfy one's hunger or just to indulge. By proportion the prices are higher than average, but this restaurant represents good value.

Braised Pork Knuckles Noodles (Dry)
RM 19.80

Next comes the noodles dish for the pork knuckles lovers. Chunky and tender plus juicy pork knuckles braised in a mildly flavoured black sauce with spices to perfection, served with the famous wonton noodles. Diners can also choose for the dry or soup version (RM 19.80) according to their personal preference but I suggest the dry noodles would be tastier as it soak-up the porky sauce making it a savoury dish to eat.

 Braised Pork Knuckles
RM 22.80

Hard-core fans of pork knuckles can simply order a bowl to himself and enjoy its his fullest with a price of RM 22.80.

Crispy Noodles with Shredded Pork
RM 14.80

A simply yet delicious noodles dish comes with crispy noodles served with a bowl of flavoursome, thick sauce of shittake mushroom, bean sprouts, scallions, salted vegetable (char-choy) and shredded pork. Pour the tasty sauce over the noodles, let it soak in for awhile before savouring.

Yang Zhou Fried Rice
RM 16.80

Well, if all the noodles or soup dishes doesn't entice you, maybe you can check out Tim Ho Wan's only rice dish in the menu. Served with whole prawns, char siew bits, chopped scallions, lettuce and topped with pork floss. Although it looks good and decent, but this dish lacks the wok-hei I always look for in any of my simple chinese fried rice.

Home Made Longan Drink
RM 6.80

Instead of the usual Chinese tea to wash down after a dim sum meal, you can try their Longan drink. Boiled with lots of other ingredients such as the premium black longan for its natural sweetness and a special herb by the name of "Tai Hoi Lam", valued for its cooling properties. Good stuff, I drank 3 cups of this nutritious herbal drink to bring down the heatiness in my body due to the bad smog or haze.

Tim Ho Wan will be introducing new and irresistible dishes throughout the year, bringing in more variety and choices for a gastronomical dim sum experience to its fans. Chefs recommendations menu will be available at their 2 outlets, served on rotational basis and diners can try them at their preferred Tim Ho Wan outlet during the different months.

First World Hotel XYZ Deluxe Room Stay @First World Tower 2 Annexe Resorts World Genting Highlands Pahang

 First World Hotel
XYZ DELUXE ROOM STAY
Resorts World Genting

I still remember when the First World Hotel was launched, back in 2000. Back then, the hotel was known to be one of the largest with many thousands of room. Over the years, my family and I have stayed in the hotel a couple of times.

15 years later, First World Hotel built an extension to their already large hotel adding 412 rooms now and a further 874 rooms is targeted to be opened. That would bring the total number of rooms to a whooping 7,351 making it the Largest Hotel in the World Now!

The additional rooms are located at the First World Tower 2 Annexe which had undergone planning and renovations for about one and a half year of planning and at a cost of RM300 million, there’s a new and trendy chic part of the hotel. My family and I had the privilege to experience a one night sleepover at these new rooms.

Lively & Vibrant Room in Colour & Design

Simplicity with elegance greet guests upon entrance to their rooms. The new annex makes better use of space with design to be functional but yet chic, comes in lively and vibrant splashes of colour and design to please its guests. These rooms come with either two single beds or a double, and an open hanging cupboard to provide storage space.

New Design with Separate Toilet & Bath

The room does have a trendy feel to it, with its young vibrant colours scheme. Frosted lime green glass walls act as dividers between the toilet, shower and sink. On top of it, there is the ease of convenience of having separated toilet and bathroom which meant that as one person showers, another person can use the toilet. This is perfect for sharing of rooms, even for couples. :p

Good Feature of USB Port Plug Charger

The size of the new XYZ Deluxe rooms are pretty similar to the rooms of the older design, in terms of size. But in terms of functionality, the rooms are better equipped with modern day necessities. The most notable function would be the availability of the USB port plug charger.

Refreshment On-The-House

For refreshments, the usual kettle with tea and coffee-making facilities awaits on a spacious bench top. Other features that ensure convenience and comfort include a flat-screen television with in-house and local channels, telephone, mini fridge and a large laptop-sized in-room safe.

All in all, I enjoyed my night stay in the new Annexe Tower of First World Hotel. They have once again succeeded in providing their guests with comfortable, chic and affordable rooms!

Welfies At The Worlds Club Room

Besides that, we also had the opportunity to visit the Worlds Club room. The World Club room is spacious and luxurious, equipped with two beds which meant for groups of four paxs. Here are some pictures of the World Club room.

CESAR'S RESTAURANT
The Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur

If food serves as a sneak peek of a country's culture and cuisine, then The Flavours of Mexico in Malaysia offers a tantalising insight into what the Latin American country has to offer.

Savour The Best Of Mexico
The Flavours of Mexico in Malaysia

With support of The Embassy of Mexico. Chef Jorge Carlos González joined hands with Executive Chef Mohan Delingannu from The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur, La Mexicana restaurant and Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar created some of the most innovative and creative renditions of the traditional Mexican flavours that took centre stage at Cesar's Restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton from September 16 to 20, 2015.

Elegant & Contemporary Settings

Nice Ambiance

Mexican Chef Jorge Carlos González was back to delight diners at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur with a unique selection of dishes that represents the diversity of Mexico's various ingredients and traditional recipes. Posing with  Chef Jorge Carlos González

With many years of culinary experience with high-profile restaurants in Mexico and having his own restaurant in Oaxaca, Chef Jorge is famed for his creative use of ancient ingredients, which has become his culinary trademark and tradition for him to create sophisticated dishes using the most humble ingredients in Mexico.

During the media preview, we were treated to gastronomical journey of Mexican dishes such as Chiles en Nogada, Tacos Al-Pastor, Pollo Pibil, Tortilla Soup, Chicken Tinga and many more.

I started off my exciting dining experience with some very unique and interesting salad and appetiser as follows:
Guacamole with Pomegranate

Jicama Salad

Baby Corn With Chilli Mayo

Coconut Slices With Lime & Chilli Sauce

Oysters With Ancho Chilli Vinaigrette

Seared Tuna With Coffee & Sesame Seeds

Shrimps With Orange Peel & Chilli Aioli

Fried Squid Skewer With Jalapeno Pesto

Tortilla Soup

I also sampled Chef Jorge's creations of chicken, fish and beef dishes in his mains selection. My favourite among the rest was the Chicken Tinga, best eaten with corn tortilla and some chopped lettuce. Fabulous Mexican flavour with tinga as it has a spicy, smokey-sweet which I enjoyed eating very much.

Chicken Tinga

Red Snapper Veracruz Style

Pollo Pibil

Chile En Nogada

Chef Jorges recommends the Chile En Nogada, a dish Mexicans eat to celebrate their Independence Day. Featuring the colours of Mexican flag, it consists of  poblano chilis filled with mince beef, aromatics, fruits and spices topped with a walnut-based cream sauce (white), pomegranate seeds and parsley (red and green); thus giving three colours of the Mexican flag: green for the chili, white for the nut sauce and red for the pomegranate seeds.

Meatballs In Chipotle Sauce

Pineapple Tamal

Pumpkin

Moving on to the desserts include Rice Pudding, Churros and Cocadas, a traditional coconut confectionery.

Cocadas

Rice Pudding

Churros

Cheese Cake

Red Velvet Cakes

Fruits Platter

Completing my Mexican dining experience was the world renowned Mexican spirit - the Tequila, most recognized and respected luxury spirits in the world, courtesy of the country's Tequila Regulatory Council.

Served as a buffet with live action stations, these enticing selections are priced at MYR 138.00 nett per adult and MYR 69.00 nett per child.

Inspired by the enthusiasm and love for Mexican cuisine and “Flavours of Mexico”. The Mexican Embassy will distribute complimentary recipe books, created for avid cooks and curious foodie wanting to explore the traditional Mexican flavours. The perfect pocket guide for your basic introduction to the wonderful flavours of Mexican food.
