妹記生滾粥品 Mui Kee Congee at Fa Yuen Street Food Market, Mongkok is famous and best known for their age-old traditional recipes of serving Cantonese congee for many years in Hong Kong.
Their story goes back to 4 decades ago way back in 1979 where founder, late Madam Mak Mai started her first stall many years ago. Now, it run by her grandson, third-generation owner ~ Pierre Choi Kok Tung or also known as Ah Tung who started to work in Mui Kee when he was just 22 years old.
Menu On The Wall
Be ready to be wowed by Mui Kee's ever so delicious and heart-warming bowl of congee. Take your pick from their wide variety of congee served with your choice of meat or seafood. Favourites are the fish belly, sliced beef, pork meatballs, salted pork with preserved egg (Pei Tan) and pork innards such as pig liver or pig intestines among others.
Fish Belly Congee
HKD 42
We paid HKD 42 for a bowl of Fish Belly Congee ~ It was heavenly, silky smooth and absolutely flavourful with the generous portion of the chunky fresh fish belly within. Good to the last spoonful!
Mui Kee Congee opens for business as early as 7:30am and closes at 3:30pm. Oh yes, they rest on Tuesday. So plan your time, come early if you don't want to miss some of the best authentic and soul-soothing congee to fill your hungry tummy!
