Moo Kata Steamboat & BBQ House puts on lots of effort and attention to maintain the food items freshness and cleanliness by storing all the food items in special clean and hygienic display freezers away from flies and dust. I was quite impressed with this concept as most of the steamboat or BBQ places I been to usually display the food items in the open, thus exposing it to germs, dust and contamination.

An Assortment of Vegetables, Mushrooms & Noodles

Long Buffet Line of Fresh Seafood & Meat

Hot Grill, Sizzling Hot Plate &  Cast iron Hot Pot
(From Top clockwise)

Moo Kata Steamboat & BBQ House brings in the goodness of various cooking and barbecue styles under one roof, offering 3 choices of cooking methods to suit your whims and fancy. Having gas or electrical stove is too common and Mr Chua, owner of Moo Kata thinks out of box of using charcoal as a different twist to stand out of the saturated steamboat and BBQ market.

Traditional method of glowing embers from the charcoal heating the hot pot sets the mood for an exciting dining experience for Moo Kata's diners. Mr Chua adds that he wanted to give diners a taste of the old days when charcoal was used to cook food. Using only ECO Charcoal, an good quality charcoal that gives a great smoky flavour to barbecue food and heats up the pot slowly so the flavours in the ingredients are retained.

Moo Kata offers hot bowl of pork bone soup as the base for the steamboat. They cooked the entire pork bone soup with 15 kg of pork bones in 170 litres of water for long hours to make for a flavourful base for the steamboat.

You can have it spicier by making your own Tomyam soup by adding Moo Kata very special in-house made Tomyam Paste. A lot of research, trials & errors goes into making the fragrant and oil-less Tomyam paste which I found it to be a super good paste for my cooking at home. So sad it's not packaged for sale yet. I even have this nasty bad thoughts of 'smuggling' back a bottle back home that night!

A Must-Try: Dreamy Dessert ~ Durian Float

Frankly speaking, I do not know why the Filipinos named this dessert ~ Durian Float. A home recipe made by Mr Chua's lovely Filipino wife which she recommends us to eat it chilled. Looking like a durian mille crepe cake, it was so delicious with the melt-in-the-mouth sensation of the pure D24 durian flesh upon first bite. Simply irresistible as each of us had to have 4 to 5 pieces that night.

Foodlogy Restaurant @Jalan Ipoh Sentul ~ Casual French Dining

Fine Food Without The Frills
*** Foodlogy ***
Casual French Dining

Bringing the taste of France to our plates is the newly opened Foodlogy Restaurant, a fine place for French fare. Serving lavish French fare from appetising and pastas to main courses and desserts, Foodlogy is just the place for a fantastic meal.

Contemporary Design

Foodlogy's Cosy Interior with Simple No-Frills Settings

Tucked in a corner lot of Viva Residency at Jalan Suppiah Pillay, off Jalan Ipoh, the restaurant's cosy interior, friendly service and quality food has made it the neighbourhood's latest favourite dining spot.

Foodlogy is run by two siblings entrepreneurs Sandy Low together with her sister, Lily Low. Both helmed the kitchen while Sandy sometimes manages the front counter. Sandy believes in simplicity in cooking, to allow the natural flavours of ingredients to come through. She brought in and carefully selected most of the ingredients from Europe, mainly from Spain and France to ensure only the finest food is served.

Premium Tea ~ Cafe Richard
Green Tea Sencha

McGuigan White Wines

McGuigan Red Wines

It is more than just a fine place to dine, as the restaurant also serves a range of speciality coffee, tea, wines and beverages for its patrons to choose from while dining there.

Mushroom & Truffle Cream Soup
RM 18.90

We kick start our French dining with a bowl of Mushroom & Truffle Cream Soup for the appetiser. The soup was worthy of mention, and not just because it has such an interesting name. The mushroom and truffle soup makes for a cheerful and delightful start to our dinner. The truffle paste lends a unique taste and aroma to the mushroom soup.
Potato Artichoke Salad
RM 18.90

A warm sauce salad, unique and different from the cold salad, Potato Artichoke Salad is a potato tossed with lettuce, baby green peas, artichoke, eggs, red onion, beef bacon, served with a topping of warm hollandaise mustard and organic Dijon mustard sauce.

Mandarin Orange Salad
RM 16.90

Foodlogy came up with a special CNY Mandarin Orange Salad to usher the Year of Wooden Goat this Chinese New Year. Fresh mini mandarin oranges, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, carrots and onions served together walnut and herb croutons for the crunchy bite and served with zesty Italian citrus dressing to get you into a festive mood.

Sardine Sandwiches
RM 21.90

Another appetizer served was the Sardine Sandwiches, good to be shared by two. A simple yet delicious starter of hors d'oeuvre with Sardine in tin, imported from Spain served with toasted baguette with salad and cheese cracker.

Chicken A-la Cream
RM 25.90

For its main course, we were served with a chicken dish called  Chicken A-la Cream. A pan fried chicken fillet with salad on the side, creamy mushroom and organic Dijon mustard sauce, parmesan cheese crackers and sauteed carrot. Nothing fancy as I was not a great fan of breast meat served in this way. But to our surprise, the pan fried chicken fillet was tender and juicy, full of creamy mushroom flavour although it was just breast meat that was being served. Good choice for those looking for healthier dish with white meat.

Seafood Pasta in White Wine Reduction Sauce
RM 45.90

From the pasta range, the Seafood Pasta in White Wine Reduction Sauce, heightened with cherry tomatoes, shrimps, scallops, fish and squid in ink sauce. The seafood was tangy and nice too, but the pasta fails to come through with the seafood flavours dominating in this presentation. The portion can be shared as an appetiser or alternatively, if one is hungry, it is ideal as a main course.

Imported Ingredient of Squid in Ink Sauce

Steak A-la Bleu
RM 59.90

The third mains was a 200 grams Rib eye steak served with superb house made Blue cheese sauce made from Blue cheese with rosemary and cooking cream. Glorious grilled, luscious rare-red meat, it comes in a (not too close) second. Meanwhile, sides like the vinaigrette French salad, sauteed carrots and cheese crackers sparkle on their own. A crowd favourite for the carnivores, but require an acquire taste to enjoy the strong Blue cheese flavour.

Luscious Rare-Red Meat

Duck Breast with Smoked Tea & Soya Sauce
RM 29.90

The Duck Breast with Smoked Tea & Soya Sauce is said to be a favourite of many at Foodlogy and I could understand why the minute I tasted the dish. The tender, juicy duck breast meat were perfectly paired with fresh salad, sauteed carrots and in house made crunchy parmesan cheese cracker. The smoky flavoured sauce was a combination of 'Lapsang Souchong' Smoked Tea and soya sauce which was quite delectable with the juicy duck meat.

The colourful presentation was pleasing to the eye and definitely appealing to the taste buds. A Must-try if you love duck!

'Lapsang Souchong' Smoked Tea ~ Cafe Richard Paris

Poached Salmon With Herbs Court Bouillon
RM 39.90

Weight watchers should try the Poached Salmon With Herbs Court Bouillon. This dish was paired dill sauce and served with salad, sauteed carrot and parmesan cheese crackers adding colour and freshness to the presentation. Thumbs up for the generous serving of the chunky portion of the 180 grams of poached salmon.

Foodlogy Nasi
RM 18.90

Another popular dish here is the Foodlogy Nasi. As the name suggests, the dish consists of a sumptuous mixture: Herb rice, rempah fried chicken thigh, hard boiled egg, sambal, acar pickles and condiments of roasted peanuts and fried ikan bilis (anchovies). Highlight of this dish was of course the delicious well-marinated and fried to perfection 'Rempah Fried Chicken Thigh'. Succulent golden brown juicy thigh was fragrant with the aromatic spices, truly a well executed dish indeed!

A switch from the traditional nasi lemak to the healthy nasi kunyit which was cooked with fresh herb and spices such as star anise, cinnamon and tumeric for the added flavour and colour. I really enjoyed eating Foodlogy Nasi without the guilt feeling, an excellence choice of good old herb rice to go with the sambal and acar pickles too.

Special In house made Acar Pickles

Crepes Suzettes
RM 15.90

I was right to be wary of the dessert, and it turned out even better than I feared. Crepes Suzettes ~ Sweet crepes served with orange sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The sweetness was just right and the orange sauce was not overpowering goes hand in hand with the rich vanilla ice cream.

Choux A-la Creme
RM 12.90

The other dessert was Choux A-la Creme ~ French pastry ball dessert served with some whipped cream, vanilla ice cream and garnished with chocolate syrup. Although not a great fan of pastry, I did enjoyed tasting this cute French pastry ball. From the first bite, it was a burst of whipped cream, crispy on the crust but soft on the inside. The chocolate syrup lends a sweet note to the otherwise tasteless puff pastry. Could do better with a dusting of powdered sugar too.

Cafe Affogato
RM 12.90

Last but not least, we complete our dinner with in house Cafe Affogato. Foodlogy serves a variety of premuim coffee using best quality coffee beans imported from France ~ Cafe Richard.
