The owner, Encik Marzuki, another great seafood fan himself speaks to me passionately about his restaurant. He aims to serve top quality fresh seafood to its patron and minced his words when he said that he puts lots of effort into providing premium and best live seafood with several top grade fish such as Jade Perch, Red Snapper, Grouper, Sea Bass and more.

This 'hidden treasure' up in Ampang is an up and coming seafood restaurant making its name as the best HALAL Chinese seafood restaurant in town with its exceptional creative recipes used to cook up mouth-watering dishes to tempt the taste buds of its diners. I have the pleasure of meeting up with Ibrahim's Fatty Crab's Chinese Executive Head Chef Zachary Yap who helmed the kitchen churning out scrumptious halal seafood dishes since opening.

Diners are practically spoilt for choice to indulge in five to seven types of cooking style using different sauces such as Mongolia-style, Sweet & Sour, Black Pepper sauce to Butter Cream, Salted Egg Yolk, Chilli and even Kam Heong style. On top of that, feel free to choose your favourite choice of crabs from the Mud crabs, French crab and Alaskan crab too.

Do note that a pre-order is require for Alaskan King crab if you have plans to savour on this crustacean. Besides, the ala-carte seafood dishes, there are also 'Tai Chow' style cooking of fried rice, Chinese-style noodles, tofu and vegetables to savour while dining here.

Our seafood-licious dinner started off with chef's new creation of French Scallop Appetizer. I have to say that this is the biggest scallop I ever tasted in my life. It's a big, thick and meaty scallop imported from France. Taste superb with the house-made sauce aptly named 'Sexy Lady', a concoction of minced garlic, fresh basil and chilli, which paired wonderfully together. Must try dish if you enjoy the meaty type of scallops!

The Star of the Night ~ French Crab makes its appearance on our dining table cooked in a special exotic Mongolian sauce. Chef Zachary was proud to say that the Mongolian sauce is the best seller at the restaurant. He has improvised the original recipe by using butter instead of goat cheese to intensify the flavour. Black peppers were added to enhance the taste to a spicier level and this appeals to local palate who loves hot and spicy food.

Oh yes, order some fried mantao to eat alongside with the crabs and let the soft buns soaked or mopped up the creamy spicy Mongolian sauce off the plate, leaving you wanting more. Well, just like what I used to say "Don't put good food to waste, ah!" :-)

Another crab dish was the Salted Eggs Mud Crab. One can taste the rich sandy salted egg coating the fried crabs. The stir-fried salted egg crab was finger licking good too. The saltiness was not over-powering and will leave you wanting to clean and lick clean every bit of the gravy. Chef was very generous with the ingredients and you would be totally delighted with this dish if you are a fan of salted egg yolk dishes.

 Steam Assam Fish

Moving on to fish, we were served Assam Steam Red Snapper. The fish is juicy and moist, and this is evident when cutting open its flesh. The house made assam sauce complements the fish, without affecting its sweetness. The texture is soft and flaky while the spicy and sour taste of the assam sauce will please any steamed fish lovers out there.

Chillies Mussel

Next, we had Chillies Mussel. This dish didn't go on well with my taste buds as I found them too spicy. Making everything from scratch, the chef made his special hot paste from garlic, dried shrimps, dried chillies and bird eyes chilli for the extra kick. The New Zealand green lipped mussels are fresh and succulent despite being super spicy for me. If you like to try this chillies style of cooking, do note to the waiter to tone down the spiciness.

Chef Zachary had also prepared a surprise for us by serving his new and latest dish, Broccoli with Sea Asparagus and Pacific Clam. Nicely plated and presented to us with blanched broccoli with flavoursome sea asparagus, Pacific clams and shitake mushroom served in a savoury house-made sauce.

Another house speciality is all-time favourite  Scallop Sauce Fried Rice. Signature rice dish of the restaurant, not to be missed is this yummy light and spicy, full-of-wok-hei fried rice. This fried rice is not just any normal fried rice, as the rice is full of flavour with an aromatic taste of Chef's homemade scallop sauce. Fried to perfection with chicken, prawns and squid, this rice dish is a delicious fare on its own. By the way, if you cannot take spicy food, do ask them to tone down the spiciness too.
