That’s exactly what happened when I stumbled upon Apollo Restaurant in Sungai Buloh New Village – an unassuming spot tucked away in the village, known mostly to the locals. Little did I know, this random discovery would turn into one of the most satisfying meals I’ve had in a while. a hidden gem that’s mostly known only to locals.

What We Ordered at Apollo Restaurant

For our dinner, we chose the RM60 Set Meal, and here’s what arrived at our table: it came with three dishes.

Ginger Steamed Fish Head

A generous portion of fresh fish head, perfectly steamed and topped with fragrant minced ginger. The fish was tender and juicy,  and packed with flavour, while the ginger gave it a zesty, appetising kick— definitely the highlight of the meal.

Claypot Pork Belly with Salted Fish

Served sizzling hot in a claypot, this dish was bursting with wok hei and the irresistible aroma of salted fish. The pork belly was soft, savoury, and full of flavour — a true crowd-pleaser.

Stir-Fry Sweet Potato Leaves with Garlic

A hearty portion of vegetables, stir-fried with garlic, for a simple yet satisfying side dish. A classic vegetable dish done right. The portion was large, garlicky, and perfect for sharing. The serving size was generous, easily enough for 3–4 people to share.

Why Apollo Restaurant is a Must-Try

I have to say, Apollo Restaurant really impressed me. Dining at Apollo Restaurant was a pleasant surprise. For such an unassuming spot, it served authentic, hearty Tai Chow-style dishes that hit all the right notes.  It’s the kind of restaurant you wouldn’t normally notice unless you’re from the area – but once you try it, you’ll want to come back for more.

The food was delicious, the portions were generous, the flavours were spot-on, while the prices were incredibly reasonable and unbeatable. It’s the kind of hidden gem in Sungai Buloh that only locals usually know about — until you stumble upon it by chance.
