Recently, I was invited to the 90th Anniversary Celebration Of La Marzocco, the artisan manufacturer of the finest handmade espresso machine and in conjunction with the official launch of their La Marzocco showroom in Malaysia.
La Marzocco, artisan manufacturer leading the industry in espresso machine innovation and design, celebrated its 90 years of heritage and technology with friends, partners and the specialty coffee community at the newly open showroom in Malaysia at Taman Perindustrian Bandar Kinrara Puchong, via its Malaysia distributor Classic Coffee & Beverage Sdn Bhd (CCB).

A total of 180 participants attended the event including café owners, barista, coffee lovers & dealers. Among them are the two distinguished guests from La Marzocco itself ~ Andrea Curtarelli, La Marzocco Export Area Manager and Tommaso Natale, Marketing Manager of La Marzocco Home. From CCB side, Managing Director Jacques Cosset and Assistant General Manager Ms Chuah also joined in the opening ceremony and celebration for the brand’s 90th Years birthday.
To add on to the excitement, a latte art throwdown themed “The Hero We Need” was organized whereby 24 heroes joined the battle. Each hero was to compete with his/her opponent to create the most beautiful latte art in 90 seconds.

The champion of the night Wong Lei Yoong from C&C (Cookies & Coffee Malaysia, cookiesandcoffee.com.my ) walked away with RM1,000 cash & a La Marzocco prize certificate.

The star showcase in the showroom is the newly launched Modbar. It is a new and revolutionary coffee brewing experience. Completely modular with all the major hardware under-counter, all the customer experiences are beautiful ‘taps’ that are designed for espresso, steam, and drip coffee. To truly celebrate the idea of encompassing people, CCB has invited 2 guest coffee roasters, namely The Roast Things theroastthings.com; Sprezza Coffee sprezzaturacoffee.com to have their very first hands-on experience with the Modbar and also on Strada AV model.

The showroom also has a La Marzocco Home section (about la marzocco home espresso lab), whereby people who are dedicated to the quality coffee making can now be a home barista.
Upon its official opening, the La Marzocco Malaysia showroom will serve as a “neutral coffee box platform” whereby micro specialty coffee roasters or small specialty coffee bean businesses are welcome to promote their coffee –the concept of the True Artisan Cafè™.
About La Marzocco Home Espresso Lab
The Home Espresso Lab is a physical space dedicated to teaching people the art of espresso.The Home Espresso Lab features 2 machine stations –one with a GS3s model & one with a Linea Mini that is always on and ready for you to try your hand at being the barista.
It is their hope that the Home Espresso Lab will give anyone access to espresso education that is interested. Those interested can book a demo or hands-on experience session to further understand the machine usage, coffee tamping at home & also milk frothing at home.
