Recently, Uncle Hong and I were treated to an authentic taste of Sicilian cuisine and wines at The Library @ The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur.
From 14th March to 18th March 2017, The Ritz-Carlton welcomes award-winning Executive Guest Chef Lino Sauro from the acclaimed Gattopardo Ristorante di Mare in Singapore.

Chef Lino, who hails from Sicily and one of Singapore’s top chefs, leads a five-day culinary showcase curating an array of signature creations through a specially designed four-course dinner menu.
Gourmands and guests alike will be able to enjoy Chef Lino’s take on authentic Southern Italian cuisine, in which seasonal and sustainable ingredients are used and presented in innovative and refined ways. His expertise lies in marrying contemporary culinary techniques and typical Sicilian flavours from his heritage that are distinctively displayed in the dishes he creates.
We were truly honoured having the chance to savour award-winning Executive Guest Chef Lino Sauro's delectable culinary showcase over lunch featuring a specially designed five-course meal. It was indeed an impressive and satisfying creation served over Sicilian dishes featuring mainly fresh and delicious seafood.

For mains, diners can have the option of either having Chef Lino’s Signature Gattopardo Seafood Stew or Australian Wagyu with Morel Mushrooms and Horseradish Sauce. Both are excellent choices; with the Seafood Stew being hearty and comforting while Australian Wagyu was an irresistible juicy and melt-in-mouth premium beef offering which ones just simply can't reject.

Guests will also have the opportunity to relish in Sicilian wines specially selected to be paired with the menu to further enhance the dining experience.
The specially curated four-course Sicilian dinner at The Library is priced at MYR 250 with an option of wine pairing priced at MYR375 per person. Dinner is available from 7pm.
More About Chef Lino Sauro
Born and raised in a family of farmers in Sicily, Southern Italy, Chef Lino is the chef-owner of Gattopardo Ristorante di Mare in Singapore and a recipient of the Chef’s Choice Award at the World Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence 2016. Inducted into the WSQ Mentor Chef Hall of Fame, Chef Lino’s commitment to the preservation of authentic Italian traditions, the use of sustainable ingredients and contemporary culinary techniques is what makes him much sought-after in the culinary world.
His global experience working alongside some of the most renowned chefs is beautifully reflected in his creations. His immense passion for his craft, travel and people have brought him to the Amazon River, Peru, Chile, China, Laos, Cambodia and more.
He immerses himself in their culture and true culinary heritage of each country he explores. His adventures include volunteering in a local culinary school in Hue, Vietnam, and conducting Italian cooking classes in exchange for lessons on Vietnamese cuisine to trekking to the middle of the Amazon River to a village in Peru to learn local cooking.
