With a catchy tagline of 'PAKAI TANGAN JER' which literally means 'USE YOUR HANDS ONLY', Ombak Kitchen encourages its diners to enjoy and have a flavourful hands-on experience eating out with their hands instead of cutlery.
I bet eating shellfish with your hands is somewhat a satisfying process. Maybe it's the feeling of peeling the shell off the whole big juicy prawns in one pull, cracking a crab claw to reveal the juicy flesh or tasting the flavourful sauce dripping off the fingers while the crustaceans flavour lingers on the palate.
Our dining experience at Ombak Kitchen was fun as each of us wore a bib to keep clean while we get messy with our hands digging into the variety of shellfish. Our platter of seafood was laid out on special paper with cutlery nor plates insight.
Ombak Kitchen serves up an impressive selection of five distinct sauces to complement a variety of shellfish. These five speciality sauces are the must-try Ombak Crazy Cajun, Creamy Tom Yam, Cheezy Zesty Lemon, Buttermilk and last but not least, Spicy Chocolate.
What I like about Ombak Kitchen is that diners get to choose from three level of spiciness to suit their palate. You can have level one of 'Pedas Biasa Jer', level two of 'Pedas Pedas' to the level three of super hot plus spicy of 'Boom Super Pedas'.
Their menu offers up to four exciting combos catering to the number of diners from a minimum of 2 pax and up to a larger group of five pax. Dining here is easy as you just need to pick your favourite combo or opt for a la carte style, pick your favourite sauces and level of spiciness.
Complete your seafood-licious meal with add-on items such as potato, corn, broccoli, chicken sausages, button mushroom and perhaps some rice or garlic bread to mop up all the delicious sauces.
Ombak Kitchen is also big on seafood for diners to indulge in their imported premium selection of Alaskan King Crab, Canadian Red Lobster, XL Prawns, Live XL Crab, Snow Crab Leg and New Zealand Green Mussels, just to mention a few.
We were feeling kind of adventurous that night and decided have Combo 2 cooked in three kind of sauces - Ombak Crazy Cajun, Creamy Tom Yam and Cheezy Zesty Lemon. Service was prompt here and within minutes, our order was laid out on the table.
Combo 2 serves up a plethora of ocean-fresh delights of Crawfish Baby Lobsters, XL Prawns, NZ Mussels, Hamaguri Clams, Squid, Broccoli, Potato, Corn and two bowls of white rice.
Combo 2 serves up a plethora of ocean-fresh delights of Crawfish Baby Lobsters, XL Prawns, NZ Mussels, Hamaguri Clams, Squid, Broccoli, Potato, Corn and two bowls of white rice. "CRAZY" - the most flavoursome and crazily mouth-watering sauce in the menu.
Creamy Tom Yam Sauce
Next, we have the Creamy Tom Yam which fares pretty well in taste and flavour and goes well with the seafood too. The rich-tasting and fragrant sauce get its creaminess from the added coconut milk (santan) and some milk too.
This was followed by Cheezy Zesty Lemon as our third choice of sauce to try, just to simmer down the spiciness. This sauce has a mild flavour of cheese with a hint of lemon.
If you are not into richer flavours that might overwhelm the freshness of the prawns or scallops, then the Cheezy Zesty Lemon sauce might appeal to you.

I appreciate the fact that Ombak Kitchen only boils or steam their seafood. This method of preparation is far much healthier than having seafood wok-fried or deep-fried.
According to them, this is to preserve the freshness and juiciness of the seafood and of course, a wholesome way of preparing the seafood.
In addition to the Cajun-style cuisine, diners may order some appetisers from the 'First Bite' menu to snack on while waiting for the main course to be served. Oysters fans must try the premium Irish air-flown live oysters from Traighenna Bay, Ireland. Have them all either in spicy sambal or soy-ginger sauce up to your preferences.

A good meal has to end with dessert. Here, the Ombak Kitchen signature Rainbow Dessert, a new concept in the art of dessert. The colourful Rainbow Dessert features seasonal local fruits served with fried Nutella Donuts.
Diners will be treated to a live demonstration where the wait staff places a water-proof white paper, then artistically draws and decorates the entire table with donuts, cut fruits and a combination of four different kinds of jams including strawberry and chocolate.
I had mine personalised with my blog name 'FollowMeToEatLa' alongside with Ombak Kitchen logo written right at the top of the dessert before indulging in. Truly an instagramable shot, right?
As for beverages, on top of the fresh fruit juices, mocktails and fresh coconuts to pair with the seafood, they also have thirst-quenchers like the special Bubble Teas with housemade honey pearls.
