Auntie Lilly and her family got the chance to sample some of the key courses and naturally, the festive meal began with the customary Yee Sang Prosperity Toss - the must-have auspicious salad, and Wan Chun Ting's Yee Sang menu include the Crispy Fish Skin Yee Sang.

Posing With Crispy Fish Skin Yee Sang

A variety of Yee Sang's options include the 2-Headed Abalone. Scallop with Snow Pear, Jelly Fish, Norwegian Salmon, Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab, Vegetarian Yee Sang as well as takeaway options are also available. Take your pick from the three celebratory banquet menus.

Crispy Fish Skin Yee Sang
RM 108 (Half Portion)
RM 216 (Whole Portion)

We had the opportunity to taste dishes from various menus from the festive selections comprising of Crispy Fish Skin Yee Sang, Double Boiled Chicken Soup With Red Mushroom & Shrimp Wonton, Boneless Chicken With Chinese Herbs, Braised Sea Cucumber, Beancurd & Bean puff With Dried Scallop, Pacific Clam & Garden Green, Wok-Fried Fresh Tiger Prawns With Curry Leaf Topped With Shredded Egg, Stewed Rice & Waxed Meat served in Casserole and last but not least, Deep-Fried Chinese NewYear Cake Cake With Yam.

Crispy Fish Skin Yee Sang

The waiter, Yong shows off his linguistic prowess through the good wishes expressed during the customary serving of the Yee Sang prior to the tossing ceremony!

The Crispy Fish Skin Yee Sang was zesty, fresh and a great start to the festive meal with the introduction of their chef's signature strawberry sauce.

We 'loh hei' with the crispy Salmon skin which was well complemented by the strawberry sauce. The Yee Sang's selections are available in half-portions or whole portions with the add-on and are priced from RM 88 to RM 216.

Double Boiled Chicken Soup With Red Mushroom & Shrimp Wonton
RM 68 Per Person

Next for soup, we were served the Double Boiled Chicken Soup With Red Mushroom & Shrimp Wonton for good health.

The well-seasoned soup was a bowlful of goodness, double-boiled to perfection in refreshing aromatic red mushroom adding texture and bite - absolutely nourishing with the succulent shrimp wonton.

Boneless Chicken With Chinese Herbs
RM 38 Per Person

Up next was the Boneless Chicken With Chinese Herbs featuring a very traditional chicken dish braised for hours of cooking with Chinese herbs for the flavours in infusing together. The end result from this is a juicy and fork-tender chicken while the herbal sauce was sweet thanks to the herbs that good to the last drop.

Braised Sea Cucumber, Beancurd & Bean Puff With Dried Scallop, Pacific Clam & Garden Green
RM 118 (S) RM 168 (M) RM 236 (L)

Sea Cucumber is a must on the Chinese New Year and the kitchen presented Braised Sea Cucumber, Beancurd & Bean Puff With Dried Scallop, Pacific Clam & Garden Green.

Pacific Clam is a welcome ingredient in every festive menu and chef has kept this timeless favourite simple with broccoli and Beancurd & Bean Puff to soak up the flavour from the sauce.

Wok-Fried Fresh Tiger Prawns With Curry Leaf Topped With Shredded Egg
RM 98 (S) RM 148 (M) RM 196 (L)

Prawns are considered a lucky feature and always a favourite dish during the festive season with its auspicious name in Cantonese 'Har' which practically means 'Laughter - Hahaha'.

Arguably the highlight of the menu, this delicious prawn dish was my top pick of the day. When it arrived, fragrant curry leaves aroma wafted in the air catching our sense of smell to pay attention to this treat. The meat of the tiger prawns was succulent while its skin was crispy.

Stewed Rice & Waxed Meat Served In Casserole
RM 88 (S) RM 132 (M) RM 176 (L)

For a dose of carbohydrate, the kitchen served the Stewed Rice & Waxed Meat Served In Casserole.

This dish is first steamed together with the waxed meat for the flavours to infuse into the bland rice. Prior to serving the steaming hot rice in a clay pot, chef's specially concocted black sauce was drizzle over and mix well before eating.

Although the rice itself is common fare, the fragrant waxed meat makes the dish a memorable one.

Loved this dish - simple yet delicious, everything was done to perfection and tasty with the right amount of umami flavour.

Deep-Fried Chinese New Year Cake With Yam

The desserts help to wrap our meal on a satisfactory note with Deep-Fried Chinese NewYear Cake With Yam. We enjoyed the house-made 'Nian Gao' - soft and not too sweet, coated with sweet potato starch and deep-fried with yam.

2020 Prosperity Set Menu RM 2388Nett Per Table

2020 Fortune Set Menu RM 2688Nett Per Table

2020 Wealth Set Menu RM 2888Nett Per Table
