It was indeed a super spicy hotpot experience, challenging our taste buds with one of the spiciest hundred-year-old recipes in Xiao Long Kan 小龙坎老火锅. My hubby is spicy food lovers was totally hooked on the Traditional Spicy Soup that comes with 3 levels of spiciness to challenge one's endurance.

The stunning ambience at Xiao Long Kan 小龙坎老火锅. Upon stepping in, you would be transported to China in Chengdu for the authentic Sichuan style mala hot pot experience, right here in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

Reliving a significant era through its food and decor, the settings at Xiao Long Kan 小龙坎老火锅takes us back to the old-time traditional Chinese restaurant where diners have their meals seated on wooden stools in the pavilion.

Come & Meet Master Chef Lai ~ The Master Of  Hotpot

Dining at Xiao Long Kan 小龙坎老火锅 requires some leg power to climb up a few flights of stairs as they don't have lifts for diners. Luckily Auntie Lilly still able to climb up all the way to the 4th floor on stairs!

Spanning over 4 storeys, the newly opened hotpot restaurant offers lots of seating arrangements in their private rooms, pavilion sections for groups and open-dining spaces.

No hotpot meal is complete without the right sauce, and Xiao Long Kan 小龙坎老火锅 offers diner their dipping sauce with a mix of minced garlic, minced chillies, chopped scallions and cilantro. Pour in their special fragrant oil - Xiang You 香油

Fragrant Oil - Xiang You 香油

Chef Lai explained that the fragrant oil helps to tone down the spiciness whereas the minced garlic does its job to kill the bacteria of uncooked meat.  If you are looking for a more robust flavour dipping sauce, you may add-in oyster sauce and black vinegar to enhance it.

If you look close enough at the menu, there's a guide to the cooking time of each food items from seconds to minutes. I find it quite interesting and believe that this is a general guide to make sure that enthusiastic or adventurous hotpot diners going overboard to undercook or overcook the fresh ingredients.

Crispy Meat 现炸酥肉
RM 16

Apart from all the hotpot food items, we relished some of their signature snack side dishes while waiting for the soups to arrive.

Everyone loved the Crispy Meat 现炸酥肉 - best eaten when hot and do watch out for the tiny round little Szechuan hot peppers.

Brown Sugar 红糖糍粑
RM 13

Brown Sugar 红糖糍粑, on the other hand, is a much-loved dessert of the Sichuan cuisine.

Crispy on the outside with a soft-sticky gooey inside and served topped with minced peanut and drizzling of brown sugar sauce, these sticky glutinous rice cakes are a good sweet treat, especially after a spicy hotpot meal.

Scent Machine

After a satisfying hotpot meal, do remember to check out the Scent Machine at the ground floor before leaving.

Capping off my hotpot dining experience at Xiao Long Kan 小龙坎老火锅 Malaysia with a refreshing spray mist

With a press of the button, this interesting one-of-its-kind machine gives out spraying like mist effect to rid diners' of any strong hotpot odour and to make them smelling fresh and nice!
