IN THE WORLD IS BACK!
‘I EAT NASI LEMAK’
Hi Guys, Attention All Nasi Lemak Lovers! I know it's crazy but this is really happening on next SATURDAY - 5th Nov 2016 where a total of TOP 40 AMAZING NASI LEMAK vendors from all over Malaysia will congregate at one venue at TM Convention Centre, Bangsar to sell their fare ~ Malaysian's National Dish 'Nasi Lemak'!
After one-year hiatus, Malaysia’s premier food event also dubbed the biggest nasi lemak event in the world, I Eat Nasi Lemak is now back! Brought to you by friedchillies.com, an award-winning food website that’s been around since 1998 under FriedChillies Media, it will be held on 5th November 2016 at TM Convention Centre, Bangsar from 9am to 5pm.
Crazy Happening This Nov 5th 2016 - TM Convention Centre
Due to the overwhelming response in previous years, there will be nasi lemak action from 40 of the best nasi lemak sellers in Malaysia under one roof – this time featuring more vendors from out of the Klang Valley such as Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Penang, and Perak.
All vendors are specially curated via a selection process that started in early 2016 by FriedChillies’ team of nasi lemak experts and enthusiasts. Among the out of town nasi lemak heroes to look forward to this year are
- Nasi Lemak Ujong Pasir from Melaka
- Nasi Lemak Habib from Batu Pahat (specializing in nasi lemak ‘sup tauhu’)
- Nasi Lemak Wak Kentut from Kulai with their killer fried chicken
- Nasi Lemak Cik Pah Corner from Batang Berjuntai
- Nasi Lemak Pendekar Mustar from Penang
Joining them are returning heroes such as the famous Nasi Lemak Village Park and Nasi Lemak Tanglin as well as other new Klang Valley heroes suggested by friedchillies.com’s readers. This includes Nasi Lemak Sinarnor, Nasi Lemak EK and Nasi Lemak Lesung Batu, all with their own unique taste and specialties. The ever popular nasi lemak eating competition will also be making a comeback with the ever popular ‘sambal terpedas, makan terpantas’ category.
"In 2013 we had 10 vendors whilst the number was increased in 2014 with 20 vendors. Also in 2014, I Eat Nasi Lemak set a record as a non-stop 8-hour food event, which attracted over 15,000 nasi lemak fans, who ate over 25,000 plates and sides of nasi lemak. With this year being the biggest one yet, it is a true testament of our love for this national dish. This is definitely an homage for these vendors that have stood the test of time and bringing so much joy to people with their nasi lemak," says Adly Rizal, the CEO of FriedChillies.
This year, the charity that the event will be supporting is The Nasi Lemak Project (TNLP). TLNP started in 2012 and part of their programme is to help urban poor families be enterprisingly self-sufficient via selling nasi lemak. “We love this idea that poor families can be lifted out of poverty in stages with the power of nasi lemak and hard work. How wonderful is that?” comments Adly further. TLNP conducts proper F&B training, micro-capital and market creation which often double the income of underprivileged families.
