Buffet Rekindles Fond Memories
The Holy month of Ramadan is one of the most important periods in the Islamic Calendar that Muslim around the world looks forward to. It is a time of prayers, reflections, fasting and the centuries-old tradition of sharing Buka-Puasa meals among families and friends. 

To celebrate the 2016 Ramadan Buffet, Sunway Putra Hotel located next to PWTC along Jalan Putra Kuala Lumpur continued its' popular and well-accepted offering of "Dari Dapur Ummi" which translates "From Our Mom's Kitchen".

Aptly, at Sunway Putra this year, led by Chef Rossham bin Rosli, Executive Chef who is the Deputy President of Chef Association of Malaysia (CAM), our brigade of skilled team will be preparing a spectacular array of over 100 nostalgic must have buka puasa dishes from main buffet display to ten specially prepared food stalls. 

Mother's cooking is something everyone looks forward to. It is why Sunway Putra Hotel chose "Dari Dapur Ummi" as the theme for its buffet spread this Ramadan. It simply means "From Mom's Kitchen", and the chef seeks to rekindle memories of his mother's cooking to shares with diners.

Consisting of over 100 dishes of recipes that have been passed down for centuries in the families of the Chef which includes dishes that are not only loved by many in Malaysia but each dish features special ingredients and recipes that are taught by their own mothers.

Among the highlights of the main dishes are from 5 Chefs including Executive Chef Rossham bin Rosli himself that will be exhibiting their mother's recipes as well. Here's goes the menu mains ...

If you're a meat-lover, then you not missed Chef Shaari's special recipe of Daging Rendang Dendeng, where the beef is boiled with 10 types of spices and thinly sliced to be fried and served with chili paste.

Moving on, this year's buffet highlight at Sunway Putra will be their 10 'kampung-style' stalls where guest will be able to savour different types of local favourites such Gear Box Soup, Rebu-rebus stall, Oriental Lamb and Chicken & Beef Satay at the Bakar-Bakar stall.


This year highlights will be the ten kampung style stalls where guests will be able to enjoy different types of local favourites such as the Gear Box Soup with its selection range of beef parts like oxtail, tongue, beef balls, offal and etc. The soup based is boiled for more than 6 hours with the special herbs and recipe. It was a real treat for us.

Curry Fish Head 

Curry Fish Head is cooked in 3 special type of curry sauce which is the Original, Nyonya and Assam Pedas. My favourite is the original which is more spicy and flavoursome with extra kick as compared the the 2 others sauces.

Fusion Sushi 
Sambal Prawn Sushi

I'm pretty amazed at the Gulung-Gulung station that offers a unique fusion sushi such as Satay Sushi , Otak-Otak Sushi, and even Sambal Prawn Sushi. Do check it out if you love fusion food like me!

Chef Rossham Bin Rosli
Nasi Ayam Kampung

The signature dish from Chef Rossham is mother's tasty recipe of Nasi Ayam Kampung. He learnt how to cook the dish from his mother 24 years ago. Her special and authentic technique combines the influences of Negeri Sembilan and Sumatra cooking styles. The chicken rice is best served and eaten with a variety of chilli paste and curry too!

Spoilt For Choice With Ther Dipping Sauce 

Do check out the Celup-Celup Stall for the taste of steamboat concept, with 10 varieties of soup and dipping to choose from.

Best eaten when chilled, their cold kitchen will be highlighting 40 different types of traditional and mouth-watering kerabu or Malaysian Salad. Great on its own or as a side dish to othjer main course, savour the assorted kerabu such as Kerabu Isi Kelapa Daun Selasih, Kerabu Tembikai and Kerabu Isi Ikan Pedas.

The Sunway Putra Hotel's "Dari Dapur Ummi" Buffet will be available from 6pm to 10.30 pm. from 22nd June 2016 to 4th July 2016 as the buffet have been completely sold out from 6th June to 21st June 2016.

The buffet is priced at RM138.00 nett per person for adults and RM69 Nett per person for children (5-12 years old).
