Such is the case with Taman Putra Fresh Prawn Noodles in Ampang Jaya, Selangor, the well-known spot famous for its signature Sang Har Meen (freshwater prawn noodles). Patrons flock here specifically for the promise of large, fresh prawns and a rich, creamy sauce.

I was recently intrigued to try it out, and I can confirm: the hype is absolutely justified!

My Verdict: Everything Was Spot-On

The experience, from the first bite of prawn to the last slurp of noodle, was incredibly satisfying.

The Prawns: They use superior freshwater prawns that are super fresh, tender, and juicy. Crucially, they were full of delicious prawn roe, adding deep flavour to the entire dish.

The Gravy: The sauce was rich and thick, perfectly embodying that signature egg-concoction needed for great Sang Har Mee.

The Noodles: The portion was generous, and the noodles themselves were springy and well-cooked, absorbing the decadent gravy beautifully.

The Prawn Paradox: Size vs. Value

A major draw here is the staggering array of prawn size options, ranging from Small, Medium, Large, right up to an enormous 6XL! Truly, this is heaven for big prawn lovers.

However, we opted for the ultimate value-for-money choice: the Extra Small size dish for only RM 18. To my surprise, the serving was far more generous than expected, featuring three parts of prawns, thoughtfully cut in half. This is a budget-friendly way to enjoy premium quality.

Whether you're celebrating with a massive 6XL feast or just looking for a delicious, satisfying, and affordable plate of noodles like I did, Taman Putra Fresh Prawn Noodles is a must-try. I will certainly be back with my family soon to explore more of their vast menu of rice and noodle dishes!
