[PRESS RELEASE]
KUALA LUMPUR, 11 MAY 2023 – Known for its exceptional camera capabilities and stylish design, Huawei Malaysia officially announced their latest photography flagship smartphone, HUAWEI P60 Pro, along with the ultra-light and thin foldable phone, Mate X3.

The P60 Pro, Huawei's hero product at the launch, perfectly integrates smart imaging and technological aesthetics, reinterpreting the classic HUAWEI P Series design language with industry-leading advancements in mobile imaging innovation. With a stunning design and exceptional performance, the P60 Pro promises to deliver a sublime sensory experience.

HUAWEI P60 Pro, a legend reborn which redefines a new level of mobile photography, aesthetic design and all-rounded user experiences

HUAWEI P60 Pro inherits the excellent genetics of photography and aesthetics and makes another breakthrough in optical systems and aesthetic design. The latest flagship has a fully upgraded optical system and is the first in the industry to come equipped with an Ultra Lighting Telephoto Camera with Multiple Lens Groups. Also known as the Ultra Lighting Telephoto Camera, the lens can boost light intake with hardware that does not affect the device’s thin and lightweight build.

Richard Yu, Huawei’s Executive Director, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG and CEO of Huawei Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit

"Every generation of the Huawei P series perfectly merges smart imaging features with aesthetic technology. This strategy adopted by P Series has resulted in one classic creation after another,” said Richard Yu, Huawei’s Executive Director, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG, and CEO of Huawei Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit, “The HUAWEI P60 Pro revolves around the art of Light, all while comprehensively evolving in terms of aesthetics, imaging, and user experience, and more especially, introduces us to a new era of mobile imaging."

(1) The Eye of Light Design Brings Industry-leading Aesthetics

The HUAWEI P60’s camera module design is themed “The Eye of Light” and places the most commonly-used main camera at the centre of the lens module. The super telephoto and wide-angle lenses are distributed on the upper and lower sides of the main camera, presenting a Classic Camera Array. A suspended transparent layer built atop the device creates an illusion of a slimmer device, allowing the Ultra Lighting Main Camera to shine as the visual highlight.

The HUAWEI P60 Pro adopts the New Quad-Curve Display with Huawei-exclusive durable Kunlun Glass panel[1]. The four sides are slightly curved, while the four edges of the screen are more rounded, making the field of vision boundless and achieving a more immersive display. With the HUAWEI P60 Pro weighing only 200g[2], Users can enjoy a more comfortable grip and touch experience. The 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive high-refresh rate also helps strike the perfect balance between smooth visuals and battery optimisation.

With the Kunlun Glass panel protection, it greatly improves the toughness of the glass. It increases the drop resistance of the glass to 10 times[3] due to the enhanced techniques to grow billions of nanocrystals that form the ultra-durable material. It even supports IP68 dust and water resistance[4], ensuring users' security during daily use.

The HUAWEI P60 Pro display also achieves accurate colours through full-colour gamut colour management and metameric matches in colour calibration. It supports wireless precise colour projection, allowing the screen displayed on the mobile phone and the display to be efficiently and precisely coordinated. With a strong array of display features, the HUAWEI P60 Pro became the first mobile phone in the world to be certified with TÜV Rheinland Color Accuracy Dual Certification (Colour Accuracy & Precise Colour Projection).

The phone also draws inspiration from nature and reinterprets modern aesthetics. The P60 Pro in Rococo Pearl features the industry's first Pearl Texture Design, incorporating natural mineral pearl powder to achieve a unique natural texture like the Mother of Pearl. The deep feather-sand Black uses innovative Anti-Fingerprint Feather-Sand Glass, which feels as soft and delicate as a feather yet shines like diamonds.

(2) Ultra-Lighting XMAGE Camera: Revolutionary Imaging Breakthroughs

The Huawei P series was born with innovative imaging at the centre of its technology. Every change comes with a full upgrade and reconstruction of the camera’s optical system. The HUAWEI P60 series has a redesigned optical system, with an Ultra Lighting Main Camera equipped with an F1.4-F4.0 Auto-Adjustable Physical Aperture, High Transmittance Lens Group, and an RYYB SuperSensing sensor. These significant improvements produce vivid photography in low-light settings, fully displaying details in the dark. It can also bring the ultra-high dynamic range in scenes with higher light-to-dark ratios, such as sunrise and sunset, dawn and dusk; The new XD Fusion Pro’s Texture Engine depicts fine details that show off even the shine on the surface of the glass.

On top of the breakthrough made by the Ultra Lighting main camera, the HUAWEI P60 Pro has further achieved a revolutionary breakthrough in Night Vision Telephoto photography, bringing Ultra Lighting Telephoto Camera with F2.1 aperture – the largest in the industry for a mobile camera periscope telephoto. The telephoto camera has also innovatively added an Ultra Lighting Lens Group to capture more light. Combined with the RYYB Supersensing sensor, the amount of light entering the telephoto camera has increased greatly. Users can now capture vibrant photographs during their night walks in the city. The camera can capture and bring out the details of the rooftop neon lights in the distance, allowing consumers to capture the exact beauty they see and experience.

Huawei's Super Moon mode is also another frontrunner in the industry. Thanks to the Ultra Lighting and focusing capabilities of the telephoto module, HUAWEI P60 Pro introduces an upgraded Super Moon Scene. This feature perfectly presents the distant moon while preserving the details of objects in the middle ground. This allows users to experiment with astrophotography; to create visual illusions of the moon in palm trees and clouds. Now, night-time scenes can be captured not only clearly, but also marvellously.

In addition, the HUAWEI P60 Pro introduces the Long Travel Slide Zoom Lens Group, which can flexibly control the focusing distance and achieve clear imaging from long-distance photography to macro close-ups. It can capture willow branches silhouetting the moon or the bright moon by the bedside window at a distance. It also achieves accurate macro photography without disturbing the subject at close range. This feature can capture photos of pets daily, acting as a pet diary device.

(3) Seamless and Lasting Experience

The HUAWEI P60 Pro consists of a 4815 mAh[5] high-capacity battery placed in a compact body of only 8.3 mm thick, respectively, supporting 88W[6] wired HUAWEI SuperCharge. It also supports 50W wireless fast charging[7] and 7.5W reverse wireless charging – bringing safe and convenient charging anytime and anywhere. Using Turbo mode, HUAWEI P60 Pro can be charged to half in just 10 minutes[8], perfectly balancing standby battery life and fast charging speed while maintaining a lightweight build.

(4) EMUI 13.1 system experience: More Exquisite, Convenient and Secure

Huawei integrates the best of both worlds by combining the imaging technology and aesthetics of the P series with the simplicity and smoothness of EMUI – which results in a more refined and user-friendly experience. EMUI 13.1 introduces 3D Weather AOD (Always on Display), which illustrates the rain, snow, cloudy or sunny weather with 3D effects and dynamically sends notifications of weather changes – an intuitive, creative and vivid display experience.

The camera interface introduces a Camera Zoom Ring, which makes photo taking a more intuitive experience and makes the zoom more precise and functional. The Camera Quick Menu also displays icons of the commonly used shooting modes, making it easy to operate the camera with just one hand and giving users a more enjoyable and convenient photography experience.

HUAWEI, Mate X3, the world's first ultra-light, ultra-thin, quad-curve and large-screen foldable smartphone[9]
HUAWEI Mate X3 features an industry-leading foldable smartphone that sets a new standard for how light, thin and reliable a foldable smartphone can be. It is the culmination of Huawei’s research and development efforts on users’ experience of large-screen foldable smartphones in recent years and the integration of Huawei’s latest self-developed premium materials and patented technologies. Users will enjoy the immersive experience of a large foldable screen and an exquisitely comfortable grip comparable to a straight-screen phone.

Some of the key features of Mate X3 include:

(1) Ultra-light and thin appearance with a large screen
HUAWEI Mate X3 stretches the limits of imagination, with an ultra-lightweight of 239g and an astounding thickness of 11.08mm while folded and 5.3mm while unfolded – making it the world's slimmest and lightest large-screen foldable smartphone. HUAWEI Mate X3 also features the industry’s slimmest-ever Type-C component with integrated structural design and is IPX8[10] rated for water resistance, offering unparalleled thinness and durability.

HUAWEI Mate X3 is equipped with a 6.4-inch[11] 3D OLED exterior screen and a 7.85-inch[12] foldable OLED internal screen, with both interior and exterior screens supporting ultra-high resolution and 426 PPI pixel density, making it the first foldable smartphone to garner two TÜV Rheinland Certifications (Colour Accuracy & Precise Colour Projection)[13]. Not only is the picture quality smooth and detailed, but it also reproduces the world in true colour. For the first time, it is equipped with the Intelligent Light-Sensitive Display; the screens deliver a consistent viewing experience across environments, maintaining a clear display even in dim lighting.

(2) Peak performance: long-lasting battery life
HUAWEI Mate X3 is embedded with a 4800mAh large battery, 66W wired HUAWEI SuperCharge, 50W wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge, and 7.5 W Wireless Reverse Charging, which easily meets the needs of daily use. HUAWEI Mate X3 also has a cross-hinge graphene cooling system for greater heat dissipation. The 1800 W/m·K highly thermally-conductive graphene layer helps the phone keep cool, even when handling a lot – useful during scenarios such as charging and gaming.

(3) All-round imaging capabilities: periscope telephoto camera, faster shooting

HUAWEI MATE X3 sets a new standard in imaging with Ultra Vision XMAGE technology to meet the needs of all-scenario photography for a superb shooting experience. Equipped with a 50 MP Ultra Vision Main Camera, a 13 MP Ultra-Wide-Angle Camera, and a 12 MP Periscope Telephoto Camera, the phone supports 5x optical zoom[14]. The periscope telephoto lens supports a maximum of 5x optical and 50x digital zoom and can capture details that the naked eye would miss in scenes from far away. Moreover, HUAWEI Mate X3’s main camera and telephoto lens come with an RYYB sensor, which takes in 40% more light[15] to generate vivid images, even in dimly lit environments.

HUAWEI Mate X3 brings strengthened XMAGE styles, which reproduce colours to deliver outstanding images. Users can explore three XMAGE styles: Original, Vivid, and Bright. The Vivid and Bright styles enhance your shots and imbue them with a more distinctive flavour. The Vivid style is suitable for capturing natural scenery with an array of colours, such as sunsets or autumn foliage, to record the beauty of nature. The Bright style can lighten up your images and capture more attractive shots of people or food.
