What’s a better way to celebrate the month of Malaysia’s 65th birthday than celebrating it through food? In view of Merdeka month, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur is delighted to present to you three (3) options, available for patriotic indulgence until Malaysia Day on 16 September 2021. 

a) ‘Next Level Nasi Lemak’ by Executive Sous Chef Budiman 

Let us deliver a touch of extravagance to your next home delivery meal. Introducing our luxe take on a perennial local favourite – the nasi lemak. The ‘Next Level Nasi Lemak by Executive Sous Chef Budiman’ is a true testament to the Malaysian spirit of ingenuity and packs a tasty punch for those who are up for something a little different. An elevated #StayHome dining experience to delight the most discerning of palates indeed!

It includes: 

• Succulent whole Sabah lobster coated in Chef Budiman’s special rendition of tangy, sambal sauce  Plump tiger prawns deep-fried to a crisp exterior 
• Black Angus beef rending 
• Truffled eggs 
• Aromatic coconut-infused Jasmine rice

b) ‘Taste of Home’ Set Menus

This Merdeka, #stayhome and unlock the best traditional recipes in town. Choose from a total of four (4) curated set menus featuring classic Malay favourites. Specially curated by the hotel’s Executive Sous Chef Budiman and his team of culinary experts, signature highlights comprise of all-time favourite dishes including the Le Méridien Nasi Minyak Haruman Air Mawar, Ikan Pelangi Panggang Sos Masam Manis, Daging Pesamah Kerisik, and Ayam Rose Kasturi Haruman Saderi Kacang Badam, to name a few. Beautifully presented in our takeaway box, it is priced at RM64 nett per set each. 

c) Jalur Gemilang ‘DIY’ Cup Cake Party 

To celebrate Malaysia’s 65th birthday, make the most of it with fun activities to do with the kids! Complete with an edible ‘Jalur Gemilang’ flag topper, our specially created Merdeka-themed DIY cupcake decorating kits are a perfect way to bond, and not to mention.. strike some patriotic feelings in them too! Selamat Merdeka Malaysia! 

Complete with a kit of icing, topping and printed sugar sheet, these are beautifully presented in our takeaway box, and priced at RM136 nett per set.

2) KRISTIN FREDERICK-INSPIRED TRUFFLE BURGER 

Remember when we hosted Guest Chef Kristin Frederick back in October 2019? Malaysians got the chance to discover the American who changed how Paris ate – the one who revolutionized France’s first food truck concept. Also known as the Californian Burger Maestro, Kristin came to fame as she revolutionized France’s first food truck concept via Le Camion Qui Fume (or “The Smoking Truck”), which opened and became the chic new way to eat in Paris back in November 2011. Her commendably delicious burgers sparked long-hour queues. Parisians fell in love with Le Camion’s burgers filled with succulent caramelized meat patties with just a hint of gristle for the body in a chargrilled bun complete with iceberg lettuce, mayo, extra pickles and signature ‘secret sauces’ dripping from the side, all wrapped with paper. It quickly spurred the introduction of other burger chains with similar values, like Blend and Big Fernand and upscale trucks like Cantine California and Le Camion Gourmand, in Paris. 

Here’s your opportunity to savour it again with our very own rendition of Kristin Frederick-inspired Truffle Burger. Think Brioche Bun, Angus Patties, Caramelised Onions, Cheddar Cheese, and of course not forgetting, freshly shaved Truffles! Beautifully presented in our takeaway box, it is accompanied by Roasted Young Potatoes with Rosemary Mayo Truffle and Locally-Grown Romaine Salad, and priced at RM115 nett per set. 3) CAFÉ GOURMAND 

Each delight within the Café Gourmand Box has been carefully selected to allow you to create your own authentic Café Gourmand experience à la Française. Enjoy sweet and savoury treats within the comfort of your home! 

A modern and sophisticated culinary concept, Café Gourmand is the practice of enjoying a coffee and three (3) to four (4) miniature sweets, in lieu of a traditional dessert. Although typically experienced with an espresso, the Café Gourmand can also be enjoyed with a gourmet tea instead. Because the Café Gourmand is comprised of a lighter fare, it offers a guilt-free, yet a satisfying alternative to a high-calorie traditional dessert. 

Among some of the highlights included in the Café Gourmand Box are sweets such as Caramel Chocolate Mousse, Kulfi Saffron Pistachio Cheesecake, Lemongrass Panna Cotta, Eton Mess, and Le Méridien Macaroons, to savoury eclairs such as Smoked Salmon with Sour Cream and Lemon Zest, and Chicken Tandoor with Raita and Mint Sauce. Served with freshly brewed illy Coffee or Latte.

4) GO ‘LOKAL’ POUND CAKES

Rich, tangy, moist! Our delicious pound cakes are handmade to order. Be it a delicious slice of heaven you’d like to treat yourself to, or a gift everyone would love to receive and enjoy, our pound cakes are always a crowd-pleaser and will jolt one’s taste buds to a new level of sweet goodness that will have them coming back for seconds… thirds! You can order by the loaf and in an assortment of flavours such as Marble Chocolate Pound Cake with Musang King Durian, Carrots Halwa Pound Cake with Cashew Nuts and Raisins, Caramelised Banana ‘Emas’ and Grated Coconut Pound Cake, and lastly, Orange Poppy Seed and Lemon Curd Pound Cake.
