Diners can dine and soaked in a setting reminiscent of the grandeur of an imperial court at Mandarin Palace. I was in awe with the imperial setting of rich ambience and historical significance of the award-winning restaurant.

Step into this grand restaurant, you'll be met with tasteful red and gold furnishings and exotic ornaments surrounded by fine intricate Chinese wood craving on ceilings, wall panels and pillars entwined by glided auspicious Dragons, Phoenix, Lotus flower, legends as well as Goddesses and Chinese characters.

Adding to the grand imperial court feel is the ceiling, which features beautiful wood craved ceiling of 1188 auspicious dragons. The dining area is spacious, boasting of a grandeur exquisite design of golden dragon crafted on the red coloured pillars, adorns by fine oriental paintings on the wall, paired with dazzling chandeliers.

Officially opened on 28 August 1957, the Mandarin Palace was one of the oldest Cantonese restaurants in the Klang Valley.

Apart from that, Mandarin Palace was the location for filming the blockbuster movie, The 7th Dawn directed by Lewis Gilbert, starring famous American actor William Holden, Capucine, Susannah York, Michael Goodlife and Tetsura Tamba, released in 1964.

It was my second time stepping foot into Federal Kuala Lumpur after more than 4 decades.  I was feeling nostalgic when stepping foot back to this memorable place after so many decades. Below is an old photo was taken at The Federal Kuala Lumpur at the Revolving Bintang Restaurant more than 45 years ago. I went looking for this old pic when I was about to write a blog post for the recent food tasting session
