Yugami Steamboat Restaurant With Flaming Fish Broth At Sri Petaling

There's much excitement taking place at Yugami Steamboat Restaurant with the introduction of their brand new Flaming Fish Broth. In any steamboat, the soup and fresh ingredients are the most important things that make up a wholesome meal. Chefs at Yugami brought their broth to greater heights by adding in liquor prior to flaming up the freshwater prawns before adding in the flavourful fish broth.

 Fabulous Flaming Fish Broth

I'm a great fan of steamboat or hotpot, cooked with any type of soups - be it the fish broth, chicken broth, herbal broth or spicy tom yam broth - I just love them in any way. It's simple, comforting and delicious with nutritious and healthy choices of meat, seafood, vegetables and much more.

Wide Selection Of Steamboat Items

Yugami Steamboat Restaurant in Sri Petaling completely nailed it this time with its own special fish broth especially with the latest Flaming Fish Broth coupled with several housemade recipes. Diners will be spoilt for a choice of  Signature fish pot, curry fish pot, asam laksa broth, spicy broth, seafood tom yam broth, tomato with potato broth, curry vegetable pot and last but not least, the fresh fish broth.

My top pick is their Signature Fish Pot as Elsa, their owner shares that they only use fresh and quality main ingredients of dried flounder fish (Chon How Yi in Cantonese) and fresh fish bones among other ingredients for 10 hours to bring out the flavour in the broth. The time taken makes for a flavourful base, and the broth only gets tastier as the ingredients for the steamboat are boiled in it. Only fresh Gouper fish weighing more than 10 kg are being used for the broth.

We were served with Flaming Fish Broth, the highlight of the night. Fresh and succulent freshwater prawns topped the fish broth which was already loaded with chunks of deep fried grouper (Garoupa) fish head, Chinese cabbage, ginger, and scallions.

Liquor pours in just before the dish is lighted up in flame. I believe the hard liquor enhanced the flavours on the broth together with the freshwater prawns. The fish broth goes hand-in-hand with spirits complementing the overall dish.

Eventually, flavourful fish broth is added in and the broth needs to be simmered for 3-4 minutes or so. A reminder, though, doesn't over cooked the freshwater prawn but let the chunky Grouper fish flesh cooked for a long time to soften the meat and brings out the flavour into the soup.

Moving on, we opt for two choices of spicy broth and curry fish broth in our next tasting. Both broths come with various ingredients and were absolutely tasty on its own even before the food items are added in.

If you're into hot-tasting spices curry broth, then their Curry Fish Pot would be an excellent choice for you. Yugami Steamboat is quite different from many steamboat operator, as their broth comes with meat and vegetables including chunky deep-fried Grouper, tau foo pok, long bean, brinjal,  and tomatoes too. I was told that both evaporated milk and coconut milk is added for the extra creaminess!

On the other hand, you like a light classic peppery and savoury broth, then Yugami's Spicy Broth could be your best pick. I especially like drinking a good and hearty white pepper broth as it's really good for cold weather and soothing for the stomach too.

Spicy Broth RM 19.90
Yugami Spicy Broth comes with slices of pig stomach (Hog Maw), thin strips of pork belly and scallions. Theirs is a milder version and tastewise is just average for me as I prefer a more fragrant and peppery soup as compare to this.
