NOODLES WITH AN OOMPH
RESTORAN 126 Bittergourd Noodle
苦瓜面汤
There are many restaurants in Klang Valley that serve a great variety of noodles dishes, but it's rare to find a restaurant that focuses on recreating the familiar, comforting tastes of home-cooked meals. One such place is at Restoran 126 Bittergourd Noodle in Taman Bukit Mayang Emas, Petaling Jaya.
At Restoran 126 Bittergourd Noodle, the menu is based on recipes that owner Ah Him perfected from his culinary experience from the cooking of great-tasting soup noodles for the past 6 years in the food business.
Humble beginnings from a hawker stall selling only the famous bitter gourd noodles, he went on by leaps and bounds to operating from his own restaurant for almost 6 years now. He has expanded his menu selection to 5 varieties of soup noodles that include the famous Bitter gourd noodle to Seaweed tofu noodle, Herbal soup noodle, Pepper soup noodle and Curry noodle too.
Apart from the noodles dishes, you can choose to have rice or even porridge from their menu which offers mouth-watering rice dishes such as Curry Pork Ribs rice, Curry Chicken rice, Mah Poh Tau Fu Rice, Minced Pork Mushroom Rice, and Pork Chop rice that comes with 4 choices of topping sauce.
Signature Drink ~ Premium Coffee
Oh yes, before I forget... you must try their coffee while dining here. According to Ah Him, an avid coffee drinker himself, he stressed a lot on serving a good cup of quality coffee made from premium beans priced nothing less than RM50/kg.
Hot Premium Coffee RM 2.70
Iced Premium Coffee RM 3.20

The final result is nothing less than an aromatic, full-bodied, bold and rich taste of a perfect cup of coffee. Choose from the hot or iced version up to your liking. Highly recommended, a must try if you are a serious coffee drinker.

Deluxe Curry Laksa

RM 10
The Deluxe Curry Laksa is their newest addition to the menu. The aromatic curry laksa noodles are created using authentic Baba Nyonya recipe, with its curry paste all made from scratch. The curry laksa tasted rich and creamy with the use of coconut milk and is served loaded with fair portion of cockles, roast pork, Char Siew (BBQ meat), pork skin (Chee pei), meat balls, fish ball, curry chicken, long beans and fried Fu Chuk (Beancurd skin) pieces.
The taste of the curry is not overwhelming and goes well with the yellow noodles. Ah Him also makes sure that he picks the right type of yellow noodles without the strong hint of Kan shui (alkaline) to make sure it goes well with his curry broth. and does not hinder the taste or flavour of the dish.
Close Shot Of The Juicy Fresh Cockles
The curry broth's consistency is smooth and rich in taste. The big plump and juicy cockles are bought fresh daily from the wet market as Ah Him shops for it personally and ensure that he gets the freshest cockles and will not settle for anything less.
They are available daily from 10:30am onwards with a limited portion, while stock last. Therefore, come early for a taste of the Super Bowl of Curry Laksa to satisfy your craving.

Star Of The Day ~ Seafood-licious Noodles
Love seafood? Then you must try the Seafood Noodles here. Restoran 126 has taken his menu to a whole new level by launching this seafood-licious noodles with the generous portion of ocean fresh seafood items such as prawns, fish paste, clams (lala-lala) with tofu and tomatoes to enhance the flavours.
With the Seafood Noodles, you just have to choose your favourite soup base which includes the bitter gourd, seaweed, pepper or curry together with your choices of noodles - yellow mee, vermicelli (mee hoon), Hor Fun (Kuey Teow), Wantan mee, Hakka mee or even some Lou Shu Fun ( Silver needle noodles).
Since they are famous for their bitter gourd soup, I have my Seafood Noodles with this mild soup base to bring out the natural sweetness of the seafood when cooked beautifully in the delicious stock. I loved the fact that the soup is very light and the freshness of the prawns are top-notch and the clams are splendid.
Coupled with my choice of noodles - mee hoon which practically soaked up the flavours and you could taste the seafood goodness in this awesome dish!
Bitter Gourd Special Meat Paste
RM 7.80
If you're bitter gourd freak, then you're in for one of the best-tasting bitter gourd soup noodle right here at Restoran 126. The soup base is a nutritious liquid made from long hours of boiling the old hen and anchovies, which is the ultimate in soothing soup.
You can taste the intense protein laden milky soup simmered for hours. Using this similar soup base for the other types of noodles, you can go no wrong with this rich, full-flavoured broth working its magic for the rest of the dishes.
Served with your choice of noodles and toppings of bitter gourd slices, tofu, tomatoes and flavourful house made meat paste for the extra bites. Taking things a notch higher, all its meat paste and fish paste are house made. Meat paste is made from minced pork mixed with fragrant deep fried dry sotong (Tiew pin) which are grind to powder form before being added to the paste for the extra flavour.
What I liked is the smooth-tasting chicken soup and the crispy fragrant bits of the deep fried garlic and little sinful pork lard (Chee yau char) in between that brings out the flavour of the dish.

RM 7.30
Well, moving on... we tried the Seaweed Fish Paste Noodles. Using the same soup base, the noodles is served with premium seaweed, house made fish paste, tomatoes and tofu with Hor fun. The fish paste is made in-house and is bouncy and tender. It's perfectly paired with the seaweed soup, and the dish goes very well with the silky smooth Hor fun which is delivered daily all the way from Ipoh.

DeleteActually the regular customers have been boycotting this place because the ingredients are not fresh, that's why the place can be quite empty at times! They used to be just a stall in the corner coffee kopitiam nearby pre-2012 and their bittergourd pork/ fish-paste noodles back then were excellent!
ReplyDeleteI personally ate there a few times with my family last week. The soup was good and the ingredients were fresh. I ordered the Herbal soup as usual - my favourite & my family of 3 ordered their bitter gourd noodles too. Yes, it was a stall back then & he has expanded to bigger shop now. Sorry to hear about your bad experience & appreciate your feed back. Will pass the msg to him.
