Yasai Itame (Mixed Stir-fried Vegetable), Yaki Udon, Chahan (Fried Rice), Meat Egg Rolls

Interestingly, diners can enjoy their yakiniku (barbecue) with fried rice, noodles or stir-fried vegetables.

Of course, there are also delicious housemade sauces as a barbecue dinner will not be complete without them. Pick from ponzu, spicy miso and chilli as dipping sauces for your grilled food items. As for me, the meat was thoroughly well-marinated, and good enough to eat right off the grill, without any of the three sauces on offer. But if you areally like sauce to go with your grilled meat, I would recommend you to try Rocku's Spicy Miso!

Rocku's Lunch Buffet starts from RM 39.90 (Weekdays) and RM 49.90 (Weekends) from 11am to 5pm, whilst Dinner Buffet priced at RM 49.90 (Weekdays/Weekends) from 5pm to 11pm. Yee Sang With Jelly Fish & Crispy Fish Skin

Customary Tossing To Prosperity, Good Fortune & Good Health

As our first course - a beautifully presented Jelly Fish & Crispy Fish Skin Yee Sang in a large white ceramic plate - is put before us. A colourful myriad of shredded ingredients comprising of carrot, radish, ginger, pickled vegetables among others. On top of that, jelly fish and deep-fried fish skin are also added to give the dish a more distinct flavour and texture.

 Assorted Seafood Soup With Tofu

Assorted Seafood Soup With Tofu ~ filled with a treasure trove of assorted premium seafood, which includes crabmeat, prawn and dried scallops, this bowlful of goodness is boiled to perfection and absolutely nourishing.

 Buttered Prawn

Next, we were served  prawn dish - Buttered Prawn - deep fried prawns coated in a sweet and salty in butter sauce, paired with fragrant curry leaves with crispy and tasty toppings of egg yolk!

Loving these sinful pleasures of crispy egg yolks, best eaten with rice!

Steamed Mandarin Fish With Minced Ginger

Featured in the Active & Vigorously Set Menu, was the  Steamed Mandarin Fish With Minced Ginger. Everyone's favourite for the night as it was exceptionally fresh with its white flesh falling off the bone. The sweetness of the fish was accented by the light soy sauce dressing topped with a generous amount of minced ginger and chopped spring onions.

Cantonese-Style Roasted Crispy Duck

Some of Chef Terrence's creation include Cantonese-Style Roasted Crispy Duck. Well marinated with a crisp skin and moist tender meat while richly seasoned with selected spices, roasted to mouth watering juicy and tender smoky flavour.
Deep Fried Enoki Mushroom With HongKong Kailan

A pleasing-to-the-eye vegetable dish of Deep Fried Enoki Mushroom With HongKong Kailan, this dish tasted as good as it looked. Although the ingredients are simple and unpretentious, Chef Terrence had arranged artfully the deep fried enoki and kailan looking all elaborate and pretty with thought and attention given to the little heap of crispy enoki mushroom.

Fried Rice With Assorted Chinese Waxed Meat Wrapped In Lotus Leaf

Other dishes that  are new to Lai Ching Yuen's festive menu are the Fried Rice With Assorted Chinese Waxed Meat Wrapped In Lotus Leaf  and New Year "Nian Gao" Dual Variation.

If you loves rice and waxed meat, this is the perfect dish to try out for a satisfying end to the festive menu. The rice was delicious and aromatic with every morsel evenly coated with the savoury sauce, cooked with good portion of assorted chinese sausages, waxed meat and mushroom.

New Year "Nian Gao" Dual Variation

Next was  New Year "Nian Gao" Dual Variation, a traditional and must-eat sweet dish to complete our dinner. Sweet potatoes and yam were sandwiched the sweet and sticky "Nian Gao", dipped in batter and fried.

The other variation of servings was the "Nian Gao" was fried in an egg batter, making it a sweet and savoury plus fragrant with the egg flavour. Thumbs up for that, something different from the norm and it was so good that we cleared up the whole platter of sweet treats!

Double Boiled Chrysanthenum with Longan & Black Sesame Rice Dumpling

Last but not least is the Double Boiled Chrysanthenum with Longan & Black Sesame Rice Dumpling for a sweet ending. The chrysanthenum drink with longan and black sesame dumpling (tong yuan) was enjoyable.

The sweetness from the longan and black sesame-filled tong yuan balanced the chrysanthenum drink which would have been rather plain without these additions. It left me wanting more tong yuan as there was only one in the dessert.

"At Lai Ching Yuen, we delicately prepare our dishes to ensure that our guests are promised a great taste as authentic Chinese cuisine, With the great ambiance of our restaurant, guest will surely be overwhelmed with the Chinese New Year spirit", says Chef Terrence Foong, Executive Chinese Chef at grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur.
